Overview & Reviews
New hatchback and wagon body styles were added to the lineup at the end of 2004 and carry over unchanged for 2005. The optional automatic transmission on all V6 models has been upgraded from a five-speed to a six-speed unit.
- More fun to drive than most family cars, slick-shifting manual transmission, smooth power delivery, nicely appointed interior, multiple body styles.

Love it! - 2005 Mazda Mazda6
By vcourmier - November 28 - 8:10 amLove everything about this car, except the fabric seats. They used poor quality fabric that is frayed already, around the edges, and is extremely hard to get clean. Everything else is great about the car. We love it! Definitely worth a look if you want a sporty, fun, easy to handle car. We get compliments on it everywhere we go.

My First Car - 2005 Mazda Mazda6
By bullrunlover - November 20 - 11:35 pmAs this being my first vehicle, it was a good choice, especially with TCS (Traction Control System), Ive had it for almost a whole year and mine has 68,500 miles. The only problem Ive had with it was the A/C, which doesnt blow very well, and a terrible creaking noise coming from the engine area when I rev it or turn on the A/C. The brakes are amazing, they have to go through pretty bad situations in my area due to bad drivers. The build quality of the interior is pretty bad, the fuse door and some of the unnecessary bits and pieces have came off and Ive had to put them back on while driving, which can be dangerous. But overall, this car has been one that Id keep until its inherited.

Fantastic Performance, but... - 2005 Mazda Mazda6
By Stuart - November 16 - 8:50 am...only fun for short hops. Im 65", and I found out within a few days that the hard plastic of the center console really irritates my lower right leg on trips longer than an hour. The test drive didnt reveal that because I was having to much fun zoom-zooming, which the car does very nicely. Acceleration, handling, braking are all top-notch, and the 6-speed AT is like butter, except when you kick it down around 30 MPH -- downshifts too abruptly. Interior build quality is kind of low-brow, with cheap plastic in abundance, and the cloth seating is already showing wear after only five months. Would not buy again, now that Ive lived with it, mainly because of driving position.

I love the Mazda 6 - 2005 Mazda Mazda6
By Susy - October 18 - 4:53 pmI love the Mazda 6; before this one i had a 1994 Mazda 626 and I also had a great experience. I would recommend everyone to get a Mazda. What I love the most about them is that they are economical when it comes to gas money. I also love the exterior of the cars. I hope that as the years go by they continue to improve the cars.

Great Car For The Money - 2005 Mazda Mazda6
By yesterdayscruz - October 13 - 5:33 amI traded in my 02 Altima for the sport wagon. They gave me a great price on the trade. My sport wagon has all the toys. What a great car to drive for the money. The build quality is excellent, handling is above a 10. The car is quiet and road noise is minimal. The Bose sound system is great. 200 power amp is more than enough for this old hot rodder of 58. I will not spend more that 30 grand for a car. Im not into status, so I dont need a BMW or a Benz. This wagon has it all. He is a bad boy and will be with me for many years to come go buy the car. You wont be sorry.

Best Value in its class! - 2005 Mazda Mazda6
By R Bailey - October 5 - 4:33 amAfter looking at competitive and more upscale midsize sedans for my daily commuter car (Audi A4, Acura TL, BMW 3, Toyota Camry, Honda Accord), I decided on the Mazda6 Sport with the V6 as the best value of the bunch. Fully loaded, with rebates of $2,000, it was $3,000 less than its nearest competitor (the YAWN Camry), and everything else was up to $15,000 more. The Mazda6 has a smooth drivetrain, deep content when optioned out, and is flat out fun to drive that leaves a smile on my face, and $400/month in my pocket compared to the similar BMW. (Yes, it feels exactly like a BMW3 to me, maybe not as fast, but we drive on city streets here 95% of the time, so look at the value equation).

Fun car to drive - 2005 Mazda Mazda6
By flennie - September 25 - 3:30 amThis car makes my 20 miles commute a joy -- really enjoy the handling. Steering is precise and the car stays flat around curves (my previous car, Corolla, and my husbands Prius made me less confident about going around bends and curves).

M6 wagon got it all - 2005 Mazda Mazda6
By fjnand - September 4 - 2:46 pmWhen I first got the car I wanted to write a review to tell everyone how great this car was but it would not have been very accurate as I had not had much time to drive it. Well its been a year now and have put on 15K miles. What I would have said a year ago still applies today. This car has exceeded all of my expectations. It has served me well for commuting, hauling objects, and taking long trips with my family of 4. The best attributes this car has is its handling and power delivery. The transmission and engine work very well together. This car excels in the twisties which I enjoy very much; reminds of my old modified Toyota truck. If only I could afford another one. Satisfied customer.
