So far, this car, minus one particular issue Ill get to later, has been just about perfect. I feel proud driving one of these down the streets of San Francisco. This is especially so when i drive by the two other cars I was within moments of purchasing instead of the 5 - the Subaru WRX or Forester. Im 33, I have a 3 1/2 year old son and Im recently separated. I agonized over the decision. Do i get the WRX, i.e. single-guy, race-car on a budget. Or the Forester, i.e. time to grow up, go conservative and be "responsible". My answer, why not some "responsible" zoom-zoom, i.e., Mazda5. Ive read lots of complaints about the power, but the stick I got makes for some pretty exciting driving!

We absolutely love this car. It offers everything we wanted, capacity to haul items, lots of seat configurations, ability to carry 6 passengers with just enough leg room for everyone to be comfortable. We really like how this car is more responsible, with less weight and bulk it uses less gas. We also enjoy the looks we get and the inquires as to what the Mazda 5 is. It looks much more exciting than the traditional minivan and is a blast to drive! Zoom, Zoom.

Essentially a great looking minivan at a great price. Fun to drive, very responsive steering. Cupholders EVERYWHERE. Navigation is very cool. Sliding doors on both sides, very convenient. The 4 cylinder provides plenty of horsepower. Domestic automakers take note. Mazda has their act together. VROOM VROOM.

Great fun to drive, love the fact that it can accommodate 4 carseats. Good fuel economy. Never get lost anymore now that I have the GPS. Perfect for a family with young kids.

This is car is just the right size for all my needs. The seats fold down to create more room than I ever expected and when they are up they give me extra space for my girls and their friends. The great thing is that it drives and parks like a car while giving me the space of a larger size minivan or SUV.

Have had a very positive experience with the 5. I routinely travel in the area with 6 adults. We especially like space available with the two back seats flat - great for grocery shopping! Mileage has been about 23 in city and as much as 39 on the highway. Good ride quality and crisp handling. Experience with dealer has been outstanding.

This car is so much fun. I didnt know what I was going to think of it when it came out. Mazda really did a great job. There is plenty of room for adults in every row, and the stow away storage is cool. I am so glad there is a NON minivan out there that I can fit all my friends into!

We have had a manual GT model for a year. I still love driving this vehicle; its a sporty looking and feeling ride. I love the lines, the wheels, the colour (platinum silver), most everything about its look. We bought the vehicle for its practical yet small design. However, fuel economy could be improved on. We are averaging 9.6 L/100km in country/city driving. We have had squeaking suspension issues in cold weather. The dealer fixed it once, but it was back within 2 months. We have been told that Mazda is working on a fix. The only other problem is a buzzing in the dashboard when you let off the gas at around 28-2900 RPM. The 5 would benefit from a 6th gear as it revs high at 100km/h.

Ive come back from a long trip. I drove over 800 miles in just two days on the highway. MPG is 29.8 (impressive), very reliable, strong, solid, quiet, powerful, fun to drive, nimble handling, fuel economy is amazing!!! (29.8 MPG, but, gas tank is a little bit small). Pretty big interior cargo space. I confidently recommend this Mazda 5 to everyone. Thanks Mazda.

  • True Cost to Own - 2006 Mazda Mazda5
    By -

By adding the price and the projected cost of ownership the Mazda5 came out #5 for the lowest cost of ownership behind Kia Spectra, Nissan Versa, Hyundai Accent and Pontiac G3. The Mazda5 is a much better vehicle and has many more standard features than any of the above similarly priced vehicles. Its also one of the cheapest cars to insure. According to Consumer Reports the Mazda5 is the most overlooked vehicle in the industry. Theres nothing else like it. Not even Kia Rondo can compare to it.
