This Year's Model Updates:

The Mazda 5 is a new, affordably priced compact minivan that seats six.

Pros:
  • Low price, generous features list, precise steering, stellar fuel economy for a minivan.
Cons:
  • Can seem underpowered when fully loaded with people and gear, extremely cramped third row.

  • Great Mom Car - 2006 Mazda Mazda5

This is the car I had been looking for but did not know exhisted. When I saw it, I knew it would be perfect for my families needs. I did not want a clunky mini-van, nor could I afford a gas guzzling, pricy SUV either. The Mazda 5 seats 6 comfortably. I wish the interior were grey rather than black though, because the hot Hawaii sun really heats up the car. Other than that, The Mazda 5 handles curves, and bumps well, and it has a great sound system. Very fun to drive.

I just love this car! It is a super sweet ride to have with two small kids. I have to agree with the editorial review on all points, there are tiny drawbacks, but this car still rocks.

  • Very Happy With This Vehicle - 2006 Mazda Mazda5

The Mazda5 is the modern family vehicle for todays small families. Very stylish on the outside yet you get the feeling this vehicle was designed from the inside out with the driver in mind. I own a platinum silver Touring (GT in Canada) automatic. Ive had the vehicle for a month. Would of never considered purchasing a Mazda till I saw the 5. Researched the vehicle & was very impressed, test drove it & fell in love with it. The only thing that held us back from buying was the longterm reliability of Mazda. Although improving dramatically the past few years it doesnt have the track record of Toyota; then again nobody does. In the end the quality and value of the package was too good to pass up.

  • A complete package - 2006 Mazda Mazda5

I was hesitant to buy this vehicle, but a child on the way so needed to make the mature decision. This vehicle is practical with sliding doors. The tires (Toyos) are weak, so I changed them out and the handling has dramatically improved. overall this is a very sensible vehicle.

  • An excellent compromise - 2006 Mazda Mazda5

My wife picked this out from all of the suv/minivan choices. It took us 5 months to make our minds up, and were satisfied. Sure it might not have everything we want, but for the price, it has enough zip, space, and sportiness to last us. And its a family vehicle! Remote start, 17 inch wheels, economical and safe. Even the sliding door windows roll down! Anyone with a family will love this one unless you have your heart set on something else. I suppose the only things we wished it had would be a leather option and extra A/C for the back seats, but those are minor compared to what we got.

I bought my 5 and was one of the first in Canada (and North America) to buy it. Ive been waiting for this car for a long time - finally someone has the guts to bring a European-style Space Wagon to North America and do it right! This is a great little car. Dont call it a minivan, because its not. Its a station wagon, or a hatchback. The one thing you need to realise about this car is that you can either carry 6 people OR you can carry 4 and lots of cargo. Engine-wise, it has lots of pep, more than enough for the car. It gets better gas mileage than any other 6- seat vehicle out there. Its also damn fun to drive, especially the 5-speed.

  • too many problems within a three years - 2006 Mazda Mazda5

We have had too many alignment problems with this car. Very loud noise coming from rear-checked but never taken care of. Tires go flat, alignment never done correctly and caused tires to go out over any bump and every bump in the street can be felt and heard. We have approximately 100,000 miles on the car. Each time we have had a flat tire we were told it was because of the alignment. One day our right passenger door wouldnt open at all. Once we opened it, it would not close so we had to tie it down so that we could drive home and we were 4 hours away from home and the temperature was 20-25 degrees. This car has not been what I thought it would be. Very dissatisfied with it.

  • Nice gas-sipper that sits 6 - 2006 Mazda Mazda5

Traded in my old Ford Windstar for this car. Given that the gas prices have been soaring for the past few months (and they will continue to soar), I chose this car because it has the space I need and the fuel economy I want. I bought the Touring edition with automatic transmission. Lots of people are saying that a 4 cylinder engine is too small for this type of car. Ive been lugging around my family of 4 for a week now and I found the power to be more than adequate. The transmission is very smooth and responsive. Both exterior and interior qualities are excellent. Overall, its a great car for the price.

  • Just what I was looking for - 2006 Mazda Mazda5

Picked up last week. Was looking for a vehicle with some storage/cargo capability yet with ability to carry 4 or more passengers, all for about $20K. Had looked at (photo) HHR and PT...but this was it at first sight. First one sold from my dealership.

The Touring Model comes with a huge standard equipment list, I just needed to add the automatic, with leather wrapped AutoStick. The one touch open moonroof, 17" alloys, low-profile Toyo tires, body painted side sills, mirrors and rear spoiler, projector head lights, clear rear tail lights, stunning styling, perfect paint. Interior is high quality fabric, 6 seats, lots of storage and drink holders, Auto climate control A/C, 225 watt 6 disk CD stereo with 6 speakers and controls on leather tilt/telescope steering wheel, cruise control on wheel too. Sliding side door opens wide for passenger entry. A joy to drive with ABS 4 wheel disk, 4 wheel coil independent suspension. Buy one quick, waiting list soon!
