Overview & Reviews
The Mazda 5 is a new, affordably priced compact minivan that seats six.
- Low price, generous features list, precise steering, stellar fuel economy for a minivan.
- Can seem underpowered when fully loaded with people and gear, extremely cramped third row.

Wow, what a car, what a price! - 2006 Mazda Mazda5
By mumsiev - May 10 - 5:53 amI just bought my Mazda 5 this weekend after looking at it for over a month. I am the first one to own it in my county and boy do I get some strange looks. I dont think people know what to think of it. I got it in the Stellar Silver Green color which is quite spacey, but I love it. The moms I have shown it to want to go buy one today. There is no other car out there with the size, looks, comfort, options and style for the money. No one can believe how little I paid for it. I think the Mazda 5 will be a big hit - sell your big SUV and ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM!

Great car, but needs MUCH better A/C. - 2006 Mazda Mazda5
By wsalopek - April 21 - 5:26 amThis size vehicle is a truly smart design... just a great idea. I wish the seats were more comfortable, the interior came in a color other than black, and road noise was far less. The A/C system is very weak. In temps above 75-80, the second row is too warm and gets very little cool air, and the third row gets none, defeating COMPLETELY the reason to buy this 3-row vehicle in the first place. I have dark-tinted windows, which helps, but not nearly enough. This vehicle is unusable with the third row occupied in the summer, or even the spring or fall... what a tragic design flaw. Nav system is not great, my GPS PocketPC is more usable. Silver radio trim is blinding at certain sun angles.

terrific combination - 2006 Mazda Mazda5
By nat - April 13 - 12:36 amMy only gripe is that the engine averages 26-27mpg on my mixed loop. The same engine gives 32 hwy on the Mazda3, but Mazda chose a different ECM chip on the 5. Bummer, would have been nice to get the better mileage at least on the stick shift, where the engine has ample power even under load.

Just right - 2006 Mazda Mazda5
By md - February 21 - 8:33 amThis car meets the needs of the American market, people just have to know about it. Im surprised that Mazda has not advertised this vehicle. It has a hit on its hands. I love all the features for the money. It drives great and serves the needs of most families with. I traded in a Nissan Armada, used the equity & now have no car payment. It uses half the gas and costs half as much for an SUV with as much as this offers. Smart buy. If you can find one in area, you should buy it. There would be no reason to purchase cars like the xB, PT, HHR, Matrix or regular family sedans like Accord or Camry with this on the market. With Camry/Accord, you can buy this for less and get a get a lot more.

Great vehicle for the money! - 2006 Mazda Mazda5
By luvchampagne - February 8 - 12:20 amThis car has so much to offer for so little money compared to the others in its class. There is so much room for the size. It is a great car to drive. Easy to see from all angles. Handles very well in heavy rain and on the highway.

EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED - 2006 Mazda Mazda5
By drspongklong - February 1 - 12:40 pmThis is the car Ive been waiting for. Un-minivanlike minivan. Perfect size for my family. Beautifully built, luxurious features yet affordable. Mazda got it right. So much fun to drive. Made in Japan so it should be reliable. Am so proud to be one of the first to have it.

1 Month Test Pt. 1 - 2006 Mazda Mazda5
By the_hero87 - January 11 - 4:20 pmHad the car for about a month. Im taking a trip next week from WI to Washington D.C. Ill write another review when I get back. I bought my 06 Mazda5 with just over 82K miles. Ive driven about 1,000mi and I havent had anything happen with the car that I feel makes this vehicle any less than a 5/5. The couple of things I noticed where: I had to pop in one of the plastic fillers where the fog lights are, as mine doesnt have that option and it popped out. I also did notice that, no, it isnt the best in the snow. But its a 4 cylinder wagon, WHAT DO YOU EXPECT!? But I know with a good set of snow tires, shell do just fine. Ample fuel mileage, about 23cty, 28hwy.

So far so good - 2006 Mazda Mazda5
By mike - December 28 - 8:56 pmHad the vehicle for about 1000 miles now and I really like the thought that went into it. Finally found a vehicle that had what I was looking for without paying the premium price. Fuel mileage is nearly 30 on the highway but I dont drive it hard. Handling is great. Even considering the recall I still love it. My only complaints are things that should be easy to resolve.

A great MINI - 2006 Mazda Mazda5
By martman - December 8 - 9:10 amHaving a family of four (two kids and my wife) this is a perfectly sized vehicle. Easy to get around town in, decent on gas, and has very efficient use of interior space. We get looks at stop lights and when we park our MAV at the mall from people whove never seen such a unique car/van. We do not miss the huge Sienna we replaced the M5 with.
