This Year's Model Updates:

The 2007 Mazda 3 sees a number of changes. Although these include a minor exterior refresh involving mainly the taillights, most are more functional. Now standard on all Mazda 3s are a tire-pressure monitor, an auxiliary input jack for the stereo, a rear-seat center armrest and an additional power point in the console. A stability control system becomes available on the Touring and Grand Touring trims.

Pros:
  • Athletic handling, refined engines, strong brakes, sharp styling, top-notch build and materials quality, hatchback utility.
Cons:
  • Top safety equipment either optional or on higher trims, tight rear legroom, so-so fuel economy with 2.3-liter engine.

  • Great car - 2007 Mazda Mazda3

I was looking a sporty but practical car, and one that I could fit 4-5 adults along with a large dog (88 lb golden retriever) in the back. I have been very happy with my decision as it has overall been a great car. Fun to drive (manual), great handling/corning with 17" wheels, great in snow with winter tires & traction control and at 9K miles I have had no problems at all. Gas mileage is ok (26 mpg average) but would like to have smaller engine offered or other option on wagon to improve fuel economy for such a small car.

Test drove a used model and decided to give a new Mazda a try (never owned one before). Nice lines, tight chassis, looks like a BMW knockoff. 3.9% financing was a nice bonus.

  • a better compact car - 2007 Mazda Mazda3

Well my wife decided on the mazda 3. I believe it suits a female pretty good, although Ive been driving the heck out of it lately(62 220lbs). It surely beats my jeeps(11-13MPG) getting on average 29-31 MPG. Its peppy with plenty of commuting power, not a race car though. Very comfortable and very stylish inside. Overall its a very good car to own and drive. Although Ive been leaning towards the hybrids-45-50MPG. Im commuting on average 200 miles a day with the mazda 3...OUCH!!! I strongly believe this car gets above average MPG for a car this size and non-hybrid.

I have owned 3 off-the-lot new cars: 2000 Sentra GXE, 02 Lancer ES, and now my 07 MZ3! The 3 is by far my favorite car. Economical, very fun to drive and dependable. What more can you ask for in a car?

  • I love mine! - 2007 Mazda Mazda3

Ive had mine for less than a month but I love it so far. I decided to go for the s Sport version rather than the i version because of the exterior color choices. I really wanted the aurora (bright) blue, which is only available in the s packages. The interior features are amazing, especially the steering wheel controls for the audio system. Air conditioning works great driving around in hot Florida weather. Before my friends were embarrassed to ride in my 1996 Mercury Cougar, but now they all ask me for rides in the 3. On the night the Florida Gators won the national championship, I actually drove 6 people in it (2 in the front, 4 in the back) and nobody complained about being cramped. Wow!

This car looks very classy and sporty. It is fun to drive and holds the road well. However, every door panel has had to come off at the dealer because of all but one window being off track. Also my outside door handle was rattling very loud when my music was turned up. Nothing mechanically wrong with car, but I question the build quality of these other flaws.

  • Tons of features, short of the leaders - 2007 Mazda Mazda3

Slow, very unresponsive engine below 4K. The 2.0 liter in my RSX Type S feels much stronger than the 2.3 in this. Handling is good when driven at 7 tenths, but gets sloppy when pushed to the limits. Very long list of features, but quality is extremely disappointing:drivers seat squeaks badly (driver is 100 lbs), dash rattles horribly, drivers side window slams into frame when rolling up and rear left door vibrates badly when opened and is extremely hard to shut. I now know why Mazda offers so many things on this car; its b/c they cannot match Honda and/or Toyota in terms of quality and refinement.

After driving a 2001 Toyota Corolla for 6 years, all I can say is wow!! What a difference. The car came with everything I wanted and more. The acceleration and braking are fantasic for any car, let alone a compact. The engine is refined and never loses its punch, and the sport shift automatic tranny is a blast. The ride is much stiffer than my old Corolla, but its not harsh. It has all the airbags standard. The handling is top notch and all the safety nanny stuff can be shut off so you can explore the cars potential. Left with the car 3 hours after the test drive. The styling inside and out is unexpectedly refined and sporty for a car in this class.

  • Satisfaction - 2007 Mazda Mazda3

I have had my M3 for two weeks and I must say that it is the "smartest" vehicle purchase I have made to date. To be sure, Ive owned vehicles from all of the major manufacturers, starting with a Ford Fiesta, all the way to the gas gobbling Dodge Durango. The Mazda M3 is good looking, sporty, responsive, engineered like a Swiss watch and great on gas. Given the concerns we have today concerning foreign oil and the associated fluctuations in price, the M3 is a real "no brainer".

  • Not in Snow ! - 2007 Mazda Mazda3

It is incredible in dry weather. Nice quick ride and rather cheap to own. Oil changes are awful as they have a plastic shield you have to remove first and Jiffy lube just cuts through it to get to the filter. I greased the 8 bolts so they do not rust up so quickly. Park this car when it snows - it is very dangerous. I cannot even get up a slight incline. completly useless. As much as I love driving it in good weather I will be forced to get rid of it as it is 100% useless on any little bit of snow.
