Overview & Reviews
Not much changes on Mazda's minivan. Keyless entry is standard on MPV LX, and the AM/FM/CD/cassette audio system is standard on LX and ES models. Child safety-seat anchors have been added to all MPV models, as have new exterior color choices. The 2.5-liter V6 engine now complies with NLEV emissions standards.
- Roomy interior, versatile seating configurations, sharp exterior styling, agile handling, good visibility.
- Weedy engine, unimpressive interior materials, no traction control available, limited maximum cargo capacity.

A Keeper - 2001 Mazda MPV
By Mikki - January 1 - 2:56 pmThis is my 3rd Mazda. First was B2200, then 99 MPV an now 2001 MPV. Our only complaint is that it hummed in the winter. I drive it approx. 40+miles 5 days a week and everywhere on the weekends. Its roomy and fun to be in. As you can see by the miles, were always on the road. I thought about Cash for Clunkers, but why get rid of a gold mine.

All Around MPV - 2001 Mazda MPV
By LionJR - December 13 - 10:00 amVery reliable and practical people and cargo mover. It is versatile for carrying passengers and/or all kinds of cargo. Easy to navigate. Its appearance and smaller looking size belies its ability to easily haul it all. Parking is a zip. Does very well in all kinds of weather.

Still Going Strong - 2001 Mazda MPV
By Shooter20 - October 4 - 10:00 pmWeve owned this van since it was new 8 years ago and its still going strong. Its at 110K miles and while its now been demoted to my "work" vehicle and replaced by an 07 Honda Odyssey, its still earning its keep. Its more nimble than the Honda, just not big enough any more for the two much larger teenagers. Great van for a young family or couples that need a multi-purpose vehicle.

mazda es mpv 2001 - 2001 Mazda MPV
By Heidi - August 16 - 10:00 amI am not very happy with my mazda mpv es. The "leather" is mostly vinal. The seats are SO uncomfortable. I wish Id have taken a longer test drive. After only 2 mths of owning it, I am ready to sell. I think its a good quality, but not all the "bells and whistles" compared to the competition. The 2002 has much improved features. But I am very disapointed with the "trade in value" if I sell it, I will have lost 3k in 2 mths! And I paid 5k UNDER sticker and 3k UNDER cost!! That tells me that it is NOT holding its value well at ALL! My mazda only has 1k miles!!

Good Van - 2001 Mazda MPV
By andyengineer - June 30 - 2:00 amUsed for 160 mi/day commute for five months, took extended family (4 adults, 2 kids, & luggage)to mountains, then took out seats and used it as a moving van. I am impressed. The acceleration is adequate under load (1000+ lbs.) and downright zippy when empty. It has excellent safety features, good comfort, and does not suffer the wallow of other vans when I ride in the 2nd row.

1 year review - 2001 Mazda MPV
By Etienne - April 4 - 10:00 amThis vehicle has surpassed our expectations. It is only 1 year old, so it is too early to give a full evaluation, but it has performed well both in city and on the highway. Its seating options and fold under rear seat allows us much flexibllity as we use it for business.

One of the best family cars - 2001 Mazda MPV
By Costa - March 25 - 12:26 pmWe bought our MPV brand new in 2001 and have never had a single problem We have 90K+ and it still runs like a new vehicle. We are planning to keep this car for another 5-7 years. There is no reason to replace it. We have been to 25-30 states with our Mazda, sometime driving 15 hours straight. You would never want any other minivan. We love it!

Mazda MPV = Mans Perfect Van - 2001 Mazda MPV
By Howard - March 11 - 10:06 amWhat can I say...Mazda did it again for me. A fantastic space saving/utilizing concept on wheels. On the LX the seats could have had a lumbar support to make the comfort better. The radio controls were obscured by the automatic gear changer. Other than those comments, no other criticisms/suggestions. :)

Zoom Zoom (Not!) - 2001 Mazda MPV
By rdw - September 26 - 11:33 amI knew when we bought the MPV that it was not going to be a high performance vehicle. It does just fine on the coastal plains of NC but the mountains of VA and WV are a challenge for its little Ford-build 2.5 litre engine. Otherwise the MPV is a quality car and is reliable. It is very comfortable - you can drive 500 miles without tiring. It is a nice car but it doesnt compare to the Honda or Toyota in value (its a lot smaller). I think the MPVs MSRP is about $2,500 too high. Mazdas end-of-year rebates on the MPV make it competitive and Im thinking about buying a 2004 model.
