This Year's Model Updates:

Not much changes on Mazda's minivan. Keyless entry is standard on MPV LX, and the AM/FM/CD/cassette audio system is standard on LX and ES models. Child safety-seat anchors have been added to all MPV models, as have new exterior color choices. The 2.5-liter V6 engine now complies with NLEV emissions standards.

Pros:
  • Roomy interior, versatile seating configurations, sharp exterior styling, agile handling, good visibility.
Cons:
  • Weedy engine, unimpressive interior materials, no traction control available, limited maximum cargo capacity.

  • Better then a Windstar - 2001 Mazda MPV

It has all kind of neat features-the roll down passenger windows-the bench seats for the second roll turn into captain chairs and the 3rd seat folds down. It is quite and angile to drive and easy to park. The quality workmanship is perfect. The interior is smooth and great colors.

My wife and I love this van. I was surprised on how much it drive like a car. Just like the commercials..."Zoom Zoom". It does feel very sporty yet practical. I would recommend this van to anyone.

I have owned a Volvo, 2 Audis, a Buick, and 2 Chevy Suburbans. My 2001 Mazda MPV has truly been the best of them all. It currently has 86,000 miles on it and has only needed minor repairs thus far. A big thing for me is that no little pieces have fallen off like in my other cars, and the whole car seems to be very well made.

  • Van did us well - 2001 Mazda MPV

I replaced this van at this time first of all because of the CARS program. Secondly 3 of the 4 kids are now on their own so its bigger than I need and its Mommas turn. : ) Otherwise this van served my family well for 7 years. We put over 130,000 miles on the van with minimal problems towards the end. And this last winter was the first real midwest winter since Ive owned it -- the smaller tires on the larger vehicle had me in the ditch twice. Despite that I still recommend it to families with children.

  • Love my MPV - 2001 Mazda MPV

We love our MPV! To me, the MPV is the sports car of mini vans. It looks great and is fun to drive and just gives you that feeling of zoom zoom. Sometimes when your driving and rocking out on the great sounding stereo, youve got to look back and remind yourself that your driving a mini van and have your kids in the back. Love this vehicle. So far, reliability has been great(knock on wood). Im just trying to find out now if there is a way that my MPV can accomodate 3 kids across the 2nd row seats when pushed together. If our family grows out of this van, that will be the saddest part. The MPV Rocks!

This is an excellent family van, especially for those with smaller families. It is super on the highways and the view from the drivers seat is nearly perfect.

Great Car. Plenty of Power. Easiest MiniVan to parallel park. Milage around town could be better but not horrible.

Our second MPV used from dealer; wanted to fit two teenage boys, string bass, stroller and baby-seat. With spit seats in second row and roll away third seat, its very versitile! Feels more like a sedan than a van. Runs great in town, but sluggish when loaded for a mountain vacation. Weve had absolutey no mecahnical problems, now with 40k miles and always 21 mpg.Thought wed miss the older car door style rear door at first, but find the sliding nice for parking lots. We do wish there were side door pockets and storage spots for all those children things. Cant even hear the engine at idle! Love the new design and plan on another one next time around.

Bought this van new. Its been very dependable. We have only done basic repairs of things that wore out, brakes, tires. I love the handling, and the fact that it is a little smaller than other minivans. Hate the look of most boxy vans. Hope it keeps going for another 4 years!

Bought my MPV new and it has lived up to its billing. Nice ride, comfortable seating. Just change oil, brakes, and other routine maintenance and the van does the rest. Drives more like a car than a van. Easy to configure seats and take out and out back seats for hauling stuff. Wife and daughter can drive it as its not "boaty". The only thing that has broken is the cable for the spare tire. If you buy one make sure to learn how to get it at the spare.
