Lincoln's luxury liner gets added safety in 1999 with the addition of standard side airbags for the driver and front passenger. There's also five new exterior colors, upgraded interior trim options, two new wheel designs and an improved audio system. Otherwise the Lincoln remains unchanged after its major rework in 1998.

  Decent Car - 1999 Lincoln Continental

  Tranny fluid must be changed at 50k mile intervals with new filter, not just flushed. Front seat backs have lousy lateral support. Nice inside & outside style. Suspension air bags way better than my 1990 Continental. Rear doors definitely are harder to open from outside than front doors. Compass and "Day-night" fluid in rear view mirror just failed. Top 1/2 of mirror is always bright & bottom 1/2 is dark. With 140k miles, no big repairs yet, although the air bag light is on since when I reclined the drivers seat all the way down - must have pinched a wire. Important: Wet sand the plastic headlight lenses with 1600 grit or finer to restore that new look.

  I love my Lincoln Continental. It is fun to drive, has all the options that I could ever want and gets decent gas mileage for a larger car.

  It is a great vehicle. The ride, performance, as well as the look of the vehicle is great. I really like the message center and power driver/passenger seat, and the double arm rest. Overall, I made a very wise choice.

  Like the car, has been fun to drive and is in very good shape! Everyone thinks its new. Took on a few trips and car did great. Look forward to keeping it.

  bought 1999 lincoln carter towncar used from friend whose wife died. 12,000 miles. better to drive than i thought, good mileage, surprising small turn radius. easy to maintain

  This is my third Continental and it has been the best. It is a great traveling car for 4 people and gets great Gas Mileage. I have only owned American cars and I buy American. I did buy it used but it only had 12,000 miles. I am sorry they quit making the Continentals. It was a good size I think the Town Car is just too big.

  Very pleased. No problems other than to replace a power window motor.
