Overview & Reviews
The optional sport package now includes blacked-out headlamps and, on LX models, a premium audio system. A five-speed automatic transmission replaces last year's four-speed unit.
- Great value, long list of standard features, high-quality interior materials, solid construction, true off-road capability, lengthy warranty coverage.
- Mediocre fuel economy, harsh ride over sharp bumps.

crankcase and mnemonic balancer - 2005 Kia Sorento
By Ontario - June 8 - 3:10 pmI purchased new in 2005. Overall, Im satisfied with this vehicle. Two things of disappointment: Fuel milage and the Crankcase Mnemonic Balancer bolt broke at 104000 Km. Imagine! It was fabricated out of a cheap aluminum by-product. It cost us $1200.00 to replace! Not happy, at all, about that. Would I buy another one? Yes, because of the dealerships unmatched customer service and the price point.

So far, not quite happy - 2005 Kia Sorento
By mr. moo kow - April 21 - 2:46 pmI bought this vehicle about a month ago.The clock doesnt work, the air bag light sometimes works and sometimes not. I took it back to the dealer only to hear them say "Your name is on the waitng list. We are still waiting for Kia to come up with a new part". Very disappointed.

luv my kia - 2005 Kia Sorento
By Robin - April 12 - 5:20 amI enjoy driving my Kia but I will go back to a pickup with my next vehicle. This car makes a little wind noise when on the highway but other than that it is a great bang for the buck.

Poor Sevice Department - 2005 Kia Sorento
By tgh1357 - April 5 - 8:10 amBought new. 1 week later found out sunroof leaked due to poor manufacturing. Fought with dealership to fix (said we probably walked on the roof!) Finally fixed, but had paint overspray all over vehicle. Passenger air bag didnt work. Kia service told me to sit with legs tightly squeezed and it would work! Finally agreed to fix it. Sent seat out for repair. Scratched door jams really bad and gave me touch up paint to fix a new vehicle myself! Too many headlight changes to mention. Dome light motor replaced, electric seat motor replaced. Paint very, very thin and dents easily. Dealing with below surface rust on the tailgate now. Rims have corroded beyond belief and look terrible.

Reliable Gas Guzzler - 2005 Kia Sorento
By Mar - March 29 - 1:23 pmI had a 2-door Honda Accord before this so I was not prepared for the cost of gas to fill this tank. It is a drain on my wallet and Im looking to sell and go back to a car. Its a good looking car, pretty fun to drive (except for eying the fuel tank gauge). Very good in the snow, Ill miss the reliability of driving up a hill in snow and not worrying about getting stuck. Bought it w/ 32k miles, Ive put 12k on it, still under warranty, had a couple check engine lights that turned out to be the gas tank O2 sensors. rear light bulb went out, fixed it myself for $2. If I was an SUV driver and didnt care about gas mileage, Id keep the Sorento, but Im not so it has to go.

new Kia owner - 2005 Kia Sorento
By kia - March 8 - 1:10 amI have a 2005 Kia SUV. After the first service I had a flat tire after leaving the garage and had to pay almost $200 for a new tire. Then immediately the electronic key kept turning on the emergency horn and required more than 24 hours in the garage. Im not too happy with this car to date. I had a Honda for more then 10 years and never experienced this.

Awesome - 2005 Kia Sorento
By Jason C - March 8 - 12:16 amFor the price you cant beat the Sorento! A truck frame/ Rear-Wheel drive. This blows all the other vehicles in this class away, except maybe the Lexus or BMW. But then again people with a Lexus or BMW wont probably care about mounting a class 3 hitch. If you buy anything else your getting ripped off.

New Soreno - 2005 Kia Sorento
By Mrs. Billy Hawkins - February 29 - 7:46 amI recently bought a Kia Sorento because I was having problems with my Dodge Dakota that was not covered by warranty. I prefer manual transmissions, so when I saw how nice the interior was, and the performance of the Sorento, I told my husband this is what I want. I saved myself $40.00 a month in payments, and I love how this vehicle gets around. It has a wonderful warranty, and has plenty of room with comfort. The only thing I might have done differently if I did it over would be to get leather for the interior, because I dress up a lot, and it is hard to keep my clothes straight on velour seating, but it feels great. The gas mileage is not great, but neither was my Dakota.

Dont buy a Kia!!!!! - 2005 Kia Sorento
By maureen26 - December 13 - 1:07 amI bought my Kia used. So of course the 100,000 mile warranty was not valid. I have poured so much money into this vehicle over the 3 years Ive owned it. I maintain it properly, oil changes, new tires, etc. Well, I just found out the entire rear axle and differential completely rusted/rotted away to nothing. The only thing holding up the car was a shock! I truly believe this car was made poorly with cheap metal. Kia will not help me or stand behind the cars they build. When replacing the rear axle the mechanic found a part that was manufactured wrong in the factory and put on backwards. Again, KIA stands behind nothing! I could have purchased a rental car with all of the times Ive had one.
