Overview & Reviews
The optional sport package now includes blacked-out headlamps and, on LX models, a premium audio system. A five-speed automatic transmission replaces last year's four-speed unit.
- Great value, long list of standard features, high-quality interior materials, solid construction, true off-road capability, lengthy warranty coverage.
- Mediocre fuel economy, harsh ride over sharp bumps.

Buy It - 2005 Kia Sorento
By Ed Katz - February 3 - 8:56 amBest price performance of the bunch. We are so happy, and saved $8,000 over competing models. Reliability is excellent. Sorry we did not buy the 4WD.

My Sorento - 2005 Kia Sorento
By Diane - December 31 - 2:46 pmI do alot of mountain driving and the car handles with no effort. The manual trans. is very smooth. No lurching. The ride is very comfortable for all passengers. The interior is extremely quite, its nice to have a conversation whithout having to yell. The service from the dealership has been exemplary. I very much like the rear seat center shoulder strap safety belt. I dont worry about the middle passenger flying forward. The cargo area is spacious considering the car is small in comparison to the full size suvs Ive recommended the car to several people. To date, two other people have purchase a Kia, one a Sorento the other a Spectra. Both seem to be very pleased.

Best Buy - 2005 Kia Sorento
By amy564 - December 22 - 10:00 amI did my homework and test drove quite a few SUVs, but this one took best overall in my opinion. If you want an SUV that can maneuver and accelerate well with great reliability this is the one. I would compare it to a sports car/SUV. I am very happy with it to say the least. I also like that it can tow my 17 Searay with ease. I highly recomend this SUV to anyone in the market for greated priced and well equiped SUV.

Good SUV for the price - 2005 Kia Sorento
By Tim - December 10 - 12:50 pmGood vehicle for the money. Fun to drive, quiet and so far seems durable. Could do better on fuel economy. Wish the steering wheel controls were lighted.

Worth a look - 2005 Kia Sorento
By kiafamily - December 9 - 11:46 pmWe bought our Sorento with 35K on it; it now has over 50K, and we havent had a single maintenance problem with it. Comfort, cargo space, performance and looks are all excellent. My wife can fit a full load of groceries in the back with a big jogger stroller with room to spare. Snow and wet weather traction are both wonderful. My only complaint is gas mileage. On the highway in the summer, it gets 21- 22mpg (pretty good), but in the city in winter, youre talking 14-16 mpg (OI!). For any family of four or less looking for a good quality SUV for cheap money compared to Honda, Toyota and Nissan, this is definitely worth a look!

Great Deal for the Money! - 2005 Kia Sorento
By Tara - November 20 - 4:10 pmIve had my Kia for a year and I absolutely love it! I had to take it in for a recall for the passenger airbag sensor and also for a broken clip on the seatbelt and in the overhead console. Outside of these minor issues, I have nothing negative to report. The car provides an excellent ride and is comparable to other SUVs in regards to gas consumption. I only have to fill up once a month under local driving conditions. Auto reviews that I have read provide a really accurate description in all aspects. The only negative that I have found, which is exactly what has been reported in reviews I have read, is that you definitely feel the potholes and bumps that you hit. Great deal for the money!

Great SUV - 2005 Kia Sorento
By Kia lover - October 30 - 7:23 amThis is my third Kia. I really like the quality and affordability of these autos. My Sorento was all I hoped for and more! Great ride, comfortable interior is worth the so-so gas mileage.

Cruised in comfort - 2005 Kia Sorento
By Bucmell - October 22 - 3:50 amI Love it, every where I go people ask me about it ... even other car dealers! I live in the Philly area and drove to the Pittsburgh area 287 miles one way. The comfort, control, power when I needed it, and handling was unparalleled. Sort of like professional athletes talking about being in "the zone" where everything is happening at a high level of performance, yet it doesnt seem to affect you while handling all the obstacles that come your way on some hard (Pennsylvania) highway miles. And the factory premium CD sound system is more than satisfying with whatever type of music you enjoy listening to. Happy trails to you!

Second Sorento 90k miles Strong - 2005 Kia Sorento
By Brian - July 25 - 10:00 amGreat reliable vehicle. Its my second Sorento and third kia so far. I drive many miles to work so I first bought a Kia because of the low price, now I buy because of the quality. So far Ive had no mechanical failures, but my shocks and struts are getting weaker. Of the two Sorentos Ive owned, the first one did have the issue with head lights going before their time. This one has been OK so far though in regards to that problem. My first Sorento was bought used as well and was a 2004 EX v6 model. It was also very reliable but got totaled in an accident so I had to buy my 05 to replace it. By the way the car held up well in the crash and was still drivable afterward.
