Ive owned this truck since November of 2004 and wow, am I impressed. It handles like a car - very quick and very tight. I remember the test drive and saying to my wife I hope its not just the demo model that drives this good. It is roomy on the inside. Im 6 2" and i have enough room. I really enjoy driving it. The only downer is the lousy gas mileage. The sticker states 15mpg city 20hwy. I mostly drive highway and Im getting around 14mpg; way off. Ive got 2700 miles on it so far. I could only hope it holds up through the years. The torque on demand is fantastic. I would buy this truck all over again.

  • Kia a keeper - 2005 Kia Sorento

Having owned several other mid-size SUVs and then switching to a wagon that I was displeased with, I decided to look again into the SUV market. I came across the Kia Sorento here in Edmunds and after reading the reviews, decided to give it a hands on look-see. On a rainy, cold day in Western NY, the Kia responded very well to the slick, sometimes icy roads, both on the highway as well as the local streets. The acceleration on the highway was seamless up to legal 65 and a notch above - it ran smooth and handled firmly which I liked. Excellent vision from the plush cockpit gives one a full view of outside, while the seating is comfortable yet firm.

  • Great SUV for the price - 2005 Kia Sorento

Ive owned my Sorento for 5 years and have had not one single mechanical problem with the car. (My dome light burns out frequently, but at $20 to repair, I dont consider that a "problem"). It has the pick-up to do highway speeds (and more), even when fully loaded. Its got the cargo space more like the larger Highlander than the smaller RAV4, although its priced lower than either Toyota. We take my car on road trips and while the gas mileage isnt fantastic, the car is comfortable and has a nice ride.

  • Love my Sorento - 2005 Kia Sorento

We just bought our Sorento two weeks ago and we love it. Its so much more "car" than we thought we would get for the price. Gas mileage is not great, but that wasnt the reason we bought the Sorento. It is loaded with features, drives great (actually, more maneuverable than my old Honda Prelude), looks nice, and fits our budget. Friends and family all are very impressed with the car. We are having our first child later this year and feel like weve got a safe, reliable vehicle to serve as our flagship. Id highly recommend the Sorento to anyone in the market for a mini- or mid-size SUV.

  • Like a rock! - 2005 Kia Sorento

I owned this for three years, bought new, as a work vehicle. This has to be the the heaviest build small suv I have ever driven. Although there were numerous trips to the shop under warranty all was taken care of efficiently with little fuss. The gas mileage is abysmal, at 15 city and 20 highway, but built like a tank. I was rear ended at 50,000 miles and all I had was a cracked bumper cover! The honda that hit me was totalled. The car never let me down, and honestly I have been considering buying a used one as a second vehicle for my wife.

  • 2005 Kia Sorrento, Cant beat it - 2005 Kia Sorento

Great car. Interior design is sturdy and practical. Have 4 kids made to fit for my family. Exterior very nice looking and many extras for not much money. Rough ride on dirt and bumpy roads but good trade off for other comforts of car. Excellent warranty. I liked the 3 tone EX, leather seats make it even nicer. Has nice features that were well thought out, Enjoy driving this SUV; it does drive very smooth on the open road (maybe top smooth, received several tickets lately). Will stick with this SUV for a long time. Very satisfied.

  • Great car for the money. - 2005 Kia Sorento

We drove a Jeep Grand Cherokee, and a Toyota 4Runner. After 6 years and 100,000 miles on the Toyota I convinced my wife to trade it in. She was very reluctant. Never had a problem with it. We test drove several suvs and narrowed it down to the Nissan and the Kia. We really couldnt justify a $9,000 dollar difference. The cars rode exact. The only drawback was the resale value. We figured that with the great warranty the car should be built well enough to last. We didnt know what any one would think about us buying a Kia since we already own a $35,000 Jeep and a $45,000 BMW. Let me tell you that nobody can tell the difference between it and any other expensive suvs. Great buy for the money.

  • Great little vehicle. - 2005 Kia Sorento

My KIA replaced my old Ford Escape . The KIA rides better and has more power. I pull a 3400 pound boat with my KIA. The KIA has better road handling than the Escape . It has more pulling power at highway speed without down shifts. Over the last 8,000 miles we have averaged 19.2 MPG. This compared to the Escape is 3 MPG better. I have been told that we were working the Escape to the maximum where the KIA is under rated. I believe this is the difference in the 3.5L vs the 3.0L engine.

  • Dont buy a Kia - 2005 Kia Sorento

We bought a brand new 2005 Sorento and loved it. Within the first year, the brakes and rooters were replaced. The dealership replaced them 4 times, at our expense, then we took it to another mechanic and since then they have been fine. The motor has been replaced twice and is now at the dealership again after it just died in the middle of the road, and my husband and I had to push it off the road. Weve replaced every light in the car numerous times, at least 3-4 times a year. Its been in for oil leaks at least 3 times. The paint started chipping within the first year. Ill never ever buy another Kia.
