The optional sport package now includes blacked-out headlamps and, on LX models, a premium audio system. A five-speed automatic transmission replaces last year's four-speed unit.

Pros:
  • Great value, long list of standard features, high-quality interior materials, solid construction, true off-road capability, lengthy warranty coverage.
Cons:
  • Mediocre fuel economy, harsh ride over sharp bumps.

  • Great safety rating - 2005 Kia Sorento

I bought a Sorento recently because of the warranty and safety rating. Two months later I was involved in a head on collision with a GMC Suburban. My Sorento was left with minimal damage while the Suburban was demolished. Thanks Kia!

Easily one of the best driving SUVs Ive ever owned. Steering is very responsive and the ride is quite comfortable and smooth. It handles as well on a city highway as it does on rough terrain. My husband and I use it to pull our boat, which it does with relative ease. I would recommend the Sorento to anyone looking to purchase a SUV.

  • Glad I Found This Car! - 2005 Kia Sorento

After researching for nearly two months for my new SUV, I finally found the best built car and most comfortable to drivein its class. The looks of the car are head turning and the performance has been great. Although I have only the car for less than a week, I have zero regrets for my final decision. I had test driven the View (tinny and cheap feeling), the Pathfinder, 4Runner and Pilot, and wasnt sold on any of them. Although my needs changed throughout my search (thought Id like the 8-seat potential), but always left the dealerships unimpressed. The value and performance of this SUV are unbeatable. I have driven a Jimmy for the past four years, and am glad to finally be out of it!!

Its hard to believe all the features which are standard in the EX model, especially the safety features. This is our second Kia. The first was a 2002 Sedona which was totaled on the freeway in a rain storm. The driver walked away with only 2 minor bruises. After seeing the damage to both cars, we went straight back to a Kia dealership.

This is a fun SUV - so comfortable to drive. Went from a small Neon to the Sorento - absolutely love it.

Not as smooth as I would like on bumps. But very roomy, very comfortable.

  • Kia??? You bet! - 2005 Kia Sorento

Never thought I would ever buy a Kia. Did TONS of research and after looking at everything got an EX with Luxury Package. Great features for the money, plus the rebates made the truck an awesome deal. Like it more than a friends Lexus 300 which has too soft a ride. Looks great. My wife drives it and the only concern I had was that it would be too "trucky" as she had a Honda CRV, but for almost all her driving which is a mix of highway and city, it is awesome. Fast enough, good handling, and very solid ride but not too bumpy. A little wind noise on Windy days, a little jolt on big bumps but overall A+! Way better than CRV for the $$$. Should get the lux package for the full time 4WD.

dead battery three times. the dealer has no clue. a slightly hard ride, front seats could be wider other than that i like the vehicle. great off road preformance (part time 4wd), handles great, quiet and tows a small pop/up trailer well. good value for what i paid for it...time will tell

  • Luxury at a bargain - 2005 Kia Sorento

This easy to handle fun to drive SUV is a luxury bargain on wheels. The EX model doesnt have all the bells and whistles offered by the LX model, but you will still feel like you are driving a vehicle that is well designed from the ground up. The engine just purrs quietly but has ample pick up and passing power. Controls are easy to reach and clearly marked.

  • Best Car For The Money - 2005 Kia Sorento

It drives smooth, holds the road, has plenty of power. It is quiet and comfortable. I can barely hear the engine from inside the car. It has every option that are in other vehicles costing thousands more. The warranty and dealer support are second to none.
