Pros:
  • Great value, long list of standard features, high-quality interior materials, solid construction, true off-road capability, lengthy warranty coverage.
Cons:
  • Mediocre fuel economy, harsh ride over sharp bumps.

First SUV I ever bought -- the more I drive it the more I love it. Test drove a few of the competitors. The ride and comfort were unmatched. It worked great in its first snow. The only thing I can find wrong with it is the gas mileage. But it is a SUV so I didnt expect much. For the money I spent I feel I got a lot of SUV. Plus that warranty -- you cant beat it.

Probably still early for review. Purchase based on Edmunds review & test drive. Finding driver seat uncomfortable/not enough adjustment for 53" female comfort, no lumbar support. Experienced transmission issues at 1500 miles. Unhappy w/ service department knowledge of problem & to fix. Especially disappointed to know that once you purchase, Kia customer service stops there. Service department had for 2 days and took apart and reassembled and symptoms disappeared, but they dont know what the problem was or how they fixed. Biggest issue was brand new vehicle in shop and Kia as a company doesnt authorize loaner or rental. Hoping transmission problem was fluke & Edmunds was right: best mid-SUV value for money.

  • Not the original Kia - 2005 Kia Sorento

When my wife first suggested a Kia Sorento I was hesitant. My first thought was of the Kia vehicles from 5- 6 years ago. They were not very appealing. However after test driving a Sorento EX I was impressed. The classy design and the roomy interior was just what this family of three needed. The ride is smooth for the most part (a little bumpy on unimproved roads but so are most vehicles). The A/C works great and the handy storage spaces are plentiful. The hood of the vehicle seems to disappear when driving offering great visibility of the road. Add in the fact that the vehicle is equipped with side impact air bags and a weight sensitive passenger side airbag and you have a perfect family vehicle.

  • a couple of minor details... - 2005 Kia Sorento

Overall I have been very pleased with this purchase, it is a great looking vehicle with a comfortable ride and good handling. The only problem Ive had is the dashboard clock not keeping time, I have since found out this is a common problem with the 05 model so check that before you leave the dealer. It has taken a while for that part to come in, and although not a big deal in the whole picture, it is an annoyance. Put this vehicle side by side to the Lexus and they look like twins. A good deal for the price.

looked very hard at the lexus rx330, also a very nice vehicle, but the KIA is almost identical, about half the price, and the 100,000 mile warranty is hard to beat!

I traded-in the 2003 trail blazer with too soft suspension and lots of wind noise. The Sorento drives much better with lesser wind noise and suspension is feels firmer, yet it rides smoothier. The seat is much more comfortable, and inside looks roomier and better quality. After all, it cost about $10K less. The engine is not as powerful as I wish. However, it delivers enough for a very smooth ride.

  • Great SUV for the $$$$$ - 2005 Kia Sorento

I fell in love with this SUV after a 5 minute test drive. I currently own a Mazda Tribute and owned a Ford Escape and this is every bit as good as they were, even better. You can not beat his SUV for the money. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of fit, finish and materials. I expected much less for the price.

  • Impressed - 2005 Kia Sorento

Ive been impressed with this vehicle from the day we bought it. It handles well, is comfortable for short to mid sized trips. My wife (who we bought it for) loves it. It was not as quiet as I thought it should be however after replacing the original tires, it is much better and the ride is actually smoother than before.

  • Great Vehicle, Fun to Drive - 2005 Kia Sorento

This is the second Sorento, that I have owned. I just traded a 2004 Sorento for the 2005 that I now drive. I have had no problems with either vehicle. The reliability of this vehicle is great. I love the interior or my Sorento, and all the features of this vehicle. I drove a Lincoln Town Car and a Lincoln LS before I got the Sorento; the ride and all will run hand and hand with the Lincolns . It drives as good as either of these vehicles and the ride is as good.

  • I so happy I bought a Kia - 2005 Kia Sorento

I wanted a Kia Sorento as soon as I saw it. So many people who had never owned a Kia made me skeptical saying," I dont know about that, why dont you get a Honda or Toyota?" But luckily for me I test drove the Kia Sorento for two days and fell in love with it. I have owned my kia for only about three weeks but I know I made the right choice. It had the looks and the right price, it was the whole package.
