This Year's Model Updates:

The Kia Sedona is all-new for 2006. It's longer and wider than its predecessor, with a nearly 15-percent improvement in passenger room. Horsepower is up 49 from the previous generation thanks to a new 3.8-liter, 244-hp V6. The Sedona's standard features list has been expanded to include fold-flat third-row seating; power-sliding doors and a power liftgate have been added as options. ABS and traction control are now standard, along with front side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags for all three rows.

Pros:
  • Smooth and quiet ride, comfortable interior with lots of cupholders and storage bins, solid build quality, lengthy warranty coverage.
Cons:
  • Handling and steering response could be better, cramped third row.

  • New to Kia - 2006 Kia Sedona

Hey, I just bought my Sedona two months ago and I have been having problems with my sliding doors. After I close the passenger side door, the door will open by itself. I have been to the dealer three times so far. And the gas mileage is way off on the screen above the mirror. My gas light comes on when the screen will say I have about 40 more miles. Is it just me or what?

  • Great Van but where is the 25 MPG - 2006 Kia Sedona
    By -

We love the van but the best mileage we have gotten is 19.1 on a level road. We average about 16 MPG which is almost the same as we get with our Avalanche. Our old Grand Voyager would average over 17 MPG and get almost 23 MPG on a trip. Comfort is excellent but the second row seats are a little tall for an adult as a taller person will hit their head on the roof. A couple of minor problems but the dealer bent over backwards to make them right. All in all an excellent value for the money. We would put this side by side with any minivan made. Also dont forget this has the highest safety rating on any minivan made.

  • I have 2 Kias and LOVE them - 2006 Kia Sedona

We first purchased a 2006 Kia Optima LX (brand new and still own) when we had our first child. Then we purchased our 2006 Kia Sedona LX (used - 5yrs old) when we had our second child. I love both of my Kias. Sure I have had some issues, like the Air Bag light and Check Engine light - but no car is perfect. Even if you own a BMW or MB, there are still issues! I will forever drive a KIA : )

  • This Van is Very Underrated!! - 2006 Kia Sedona

I have only had this van a short time, former van was a Dodge Caravan Sport. When the dealer first showed me the Sedona, my initial impression as I walked towards it was that it was sharp for a mini-van(Midnight Black with dark tinted windows!) as I got closer to it and saw it was Kia I wasnt so sure I wanted it, it was a Kia for goodness sakes. But then, I got in the vehicle, with its tan, clean and crisp interior, decided to test drive it, and fell in love right away! Its three years old but smooth, and still looks really good, it looks like an 08 or 09. Its also fast and corners very well. The CD and radio are outstanding in sound quality.

  • Never buy another Kia - 2006 Kia Sedona

This 06" kia Sedona was used with 70,000 miles. The first thing I had to replace was the sway bar and ended up getting it from a junk yard becasue the KIA parts are so very expensive. Then I replaced the brake pads and had a lot of trouble with scrapping noise! I finally replaced the rotors, did not help! I finally found out the rotors were worpped and it was causing the pads to go bad! DO NOT GET brake pads from any NAPA stores! They did not work on these Kias. The biggest options I have had to over come is the turn signal blubs blowing, the head light blubs continually blowing. I found out what was the problem with turn signal, the socket had to be replaced.

  • 2006 Sedona Minivan - 2006 Kia Sedona

Well we bought the vehicle used and the the fist thing that happened when we took it to the Kia dealer for complete service, the vehicle was in great shape until they did a recall on the left rear passenger door, the dealer was replacing the rear door latch. Since then the door has not opened on its own. Sometimes we have to play with the controls to make the rear door close properly.

  • Kia vs. others - 2006 Kia Sedona

We bought this Sedona on reviews alone. I read car and driver and trust their take on vehicle reviews. Also the consumer reviews were very helpful. This is a no frills product and very straight forward in design. Its very comfortable to drive and very practical. Better than the domestics and equal to the Japanese offerings. I would look to either this Kia or the Honda. In terms quality both are equal but the Honda is a bit more sporty. Lets see here - sporty vs. 10 year warranty? Take your pick, for me its the Kia, I really like this vehicle.

  • Good solid van - 2006 Kia Sedona

We bought our 2006 in Feb. of 2007. We now have 17K miles on it. No major issues. We had the tires rotated at the 12K service interval and the sensors went off because the tires were under inflated. I just put some air in them and the sensors cleared. Interior is rather spartan. Gas mileage is okay from a 3.8L engine that turns out almost 250 HP. Great get-up-and-go. Wife loves the way the third row seats fold down. Lots of usable space inside. Just make sure to change the oil every 3K miles. It is a 40-weight oil so it is a little more expensive if you dont go to the dealer.

  • great van - 2006 Kia Sedona

Great van for the price. I like the room, the storage, and the overall fill when driving. We were able to get the DVD system, however I had to give up some of the other things I had in my other van (NOT A KIA).

  • Its not bad but... - 2006 Kia Sedona
    By -

I love how the van rides, sits and style of it. Ive only owned the van for 3 months, so I cant comment on the quality and reliability. However, I would throw caution to the wind when you consider Kia at the present moment. The issue I have with them is lack of parts in the U.S. and poor service. Again, this is at the present time and I would assume over the next few years this will be corrected. The driving and style of the van compares to Honda and Toyota; other than that Kia is not in their league. There is a bigger problem and it not under the hood. So before you buy ask yourself how much is inconvenience and poor service worth to you.
