Model Overview:

Sold from 2002-'12, the Jeep Liberty was the successor to one of America's original compact SUVs, the Cherokee (which returned in 2014). True to its tough, capable Jeep lineage, the Liberty has considerable off-road capability, thanks to steep approach and departure angles and exceptional suspension travel and articulation. The Liberty was also rated to tow up to 5,000 pounds, a robust figure for its class. These are qualities not found in most other small utility vehicles from this time period, which saw the rise of crossover SUVs optimized for the suburban lifestyle.

Demerits for the Jeep Liberty include a weak engine lineup, with sluggish acceleration and dismal fuel economy from both the four-cylinder and V6 engines offered over the years (the first generation's briefly optional diesel engine is impressively fuel-efficient, however). Interior quality and comfort are also lacking, and by today's standards, the Liberty's general lack of refinement leaves much to be desired.

I was attracted to the Liberty because I liked the way it looked. Before I bought it, I drove many other small SUVs and found that I liked the way the Liberty felt when I drove it. I felt comfortable in the drivers seat.Even after driving it for over a year, I am still in love with my Jeep. My 14 year old is hoping I will pass it down to her when she turns 16. But only if her father will buy me a new one ...

After drving sports cars for years, I am enjoying the ride and comfort or my Jeep. The seats are comfortable and everyone love the chrome accents in the interior. Importantly, the power of the engine gives me a sense of safety and security and the height off the road allows for better visibility.

My jeep is about the sharpest, "funnest" vehicle Ive ever owned! Its the perfect car. Mine came with an off-road package and I fell in love with it immediately. I had been looking for weeks at different SUVs, and this was a show stopper. I always get stares while Im driving! Its super during the winter, I never had a problem in our snowy (Ohio) roads last year. Ive had the car for 10 months and have had no mechanical problems or otherwise.

Great car, fun to drive... The only thing i dont like about it is the rear tailgate, the fact that it doesnt have a handle, and the window controls on the center counsel, it can be annoying to open and close the windows, but besides that the handling is awesome for an SUV, and the power is pretty good. OFF-ROAD the car performs really well, better than most other SUVs.

I am the owner of a new Jeep Liberty Limited 4x4. This is my 5th Jeep. Coming from a 06 Jeep Liberty I am very pleased with the interior and roominess. The rear seats fold perfectly flat, so I can easily get my two mountain bikes inside. The roof rack is strong enough to carry my two kayaks on top. I also had to have a vechile that could be flat towed behind an RV. The command Trac II with a netural position allows this to be done. The poor side of this vechile is the engine and transmission. It has a feeling of a miss at highway speeds that the dealer can find no cure for and I am waiting for an answer from Jeep. Added to this is the poor fuel mileage. Getting about 16 mpg overall.

  • Piece of JUNK - 2007 Jeep Liberty

I have been a loyal chrysler customer, that WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER ONE! This is my third, including a new 300 off the show room floor, and have never been more angry with a purchase! The seats stain if water touches them, and the windows are a joke! The regulator is made of plastic and breaks every other day! I am so disappointed with chrysler and never plan on buying anything else from them once I get rid of this piece of crap!!! If you havent purchased one spare yourself the hassle, you will spend more time having the windows fixed then you will get to drive the car!

Ive only owned it one week. For the last two years Ive been looking at the Jeep Liberty. Im not quite used to being up so high (previous car was a Grand Prix). Its fun to drive and I feel very secure. Having horses, its very practical for me. I think Ive made the right choice.

My wife and I had recently purchased a home that required a lot of work. Also, our lifestyle is one of skiing, hiking, biking riding, etc. At the time, we owned two sedans (BMW 3 series & Camry). We dumped the Camry and purchased the Jeep Liberty with hopes that the Liberty would hold all the stuff we were to buy at Home Depot for the house and our gear as we headed out for adventure. It has fufilled these requirements and them some. We truly enjoy the ride, power of the 6 cyclinder and all the other features.
