Overview & Reviews
Sold from 2002-'12, the Jeep Liberty was the successor to one of America's original compact SUVs, the Cherokee (which returned in 2014). True to its tough, capable Jeep lineage, the Liberty has considerable off-road capability, thanks to steep approach and departure angles and exceptional suspension travel and articulation. The Liberty was also rated to tow up to 5,000 pounds, a robust figure for its class. These are qualities not found in most other small utility vehicles from this time period, which saw the rise of crossover SUVs optimized for the suburban lifestyle.
Demerits for the Jeep Liberty include a weak engine lineup, with sluggish acceleration and dismal fuel economy from both the four-cylinder and V6 engines offered over the years (the first generation's briefly optional diesel engine is impressively fuel-efficient, however). Interior quality and comfort are also lacking, and by today's standards, the Liberty's general lack of refinement leaves much to be desired.

Jeep Liberty, the reliable Jeep - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By richard barr - October 8 - 10:30 pmThis is a great car that goes anywhere in comfort and gets you back safely. Its small and agile, but large enough to haul anything for a house or cabin. In a year of driving many miles the only thing its needed is oil changes.

Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By Grandma of 3 - October 4 - 3:00 pmI have leased two Grand Cherokees and two Libertys (2002 and 2005). Love this little frog, as my husband calls it. Just as plush and much better pickup than my Grand Cherokee that was an 8 cylinder. Fun to drive, easy to park. Comfortable leather seats. Great doodads. Plush, sporty, rides like a car but has lots of room for hauling plants, boxes, etc. when you put down the back seats that fold down very easily. I have had no problems with either of my Libertys. I love it. "My little Beep."

Suprise - 2004 Jeep Liberty
By Quasim - September 27 - 2:00 amI was pleasantly surprised by the 2004 Jeep Liberty. It displayed and soild firm ride quality, and great handling habits. The build Quality was also better than I expected. The truck(yes it is a real truck) was what my girlfriend wanted and I pushed against it... however after I drove it I was happyly surprised. I budged much more money for an SUV but this is a great truck for the money, and feels like many of the more expensive less capable trucks

myjeep - 2004 Jeep Liberty
By monsour - September 27 - 2:00 amThe Liberty provides a confident ride. When Shutting the doors you get a sense of excellent build quality. The V6 offers ample get up and go power on the highway when needed. The Select trac feature on the 4wd model of proficient in snow and sno/ice conditions and very capable off road. It was an excellent choice for me.

Jeepers Keepers - 2007 Jeep Liberty
By Greg Krar - September 22 - 9:26 pmIve recently purchased a used 2007 Jeep Liberty Sport and have enjoyed the driving experience. This Jeep offers a solid ride with great sight lines - almost no blind spots. The Jeep handles any road conditions - I live in a snow belt area and the smooth shift-on-the-fly 4X4 feature makes for confident and safe driving on the worst of roads. This vehicle handles well in both highway and city driving. It offers tons of space inside but is easy to park on a downtown street. The sound system is good, all dash board controls are within convenient reach, and the center located window controls are a neat idea. The back tailgate/window set up is unique and works like a charm! This Jeep is a keeper!

Jeep Liberty Sport - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By Carl Hartley - September 21 - 2:50 amIt is a reliable and dependable vehicle. The seating is comfortable and has a pleasing interior design. I am very disappointed with window switch location. Some better human engineering is required in arrangement of these switches.

The Car for All Seasons - 2003 Jeep Liberty
By Jay Hartfield - September 20 - 10:00 amDont mistake this for another "Cute- Ute". It is solid Jeep through and through and a major improvement in all respects over its Cherokee ancestor (Ive had three of those.) Handling and power, on-road and off, is exceptional, and with the Limited Edition G Package, it has all the luxury features that the most discriminating consumer could desire. Ive only had mine for three weeks, but I can say that Ive never had another vehicle that so effectively combines urban practicality, expressway performance, and go-anywhere off-road capability.

Great Car for what it is - 2007 Jeep Liberty
By Mark - September 17 - 8:36 pmIf you want a small SUV that has great off-road capability and still provides a decent city and highway ride, this is it. I think the folks that have complained about Chrysler standing behind their vehicle should probably look at their dealership. I have had exceptional warranty service.
