Overview & Reviews
An all-new diesel engine option makes its debut for the 2005 Jeep Liberty. Exterior appearance changes this year include a new front fascia, grille, foglamps, fender flares and body side moldings. Interior upgrades include relocated power window switches, new instrument panel cluster graphics and trim bezels and improved seat comfort. The Renegade model gets a flatter hood, taller grille, off-road foglamps and taillamp guards, as well as functional rock rails and four skid plates. A new six-speed manual transmission replaces last year's five-speed unit.
- Extremely capable off-road, creative interior design, economical diesel engine option, still a Jeep at heart.
- Gas engines are rather thirsty at the pump, not as "carlike" on the street as most of its competitors, less cargo space than some of its competitors.

Enjoyable but not comfortable - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By adk jeep - August 21 - 2:23 amI bought this jeep because of the looks and the plethora of libertys on the road. Overall it is a good vehicle. I have the 6spd. tranny and this thing moves! It has to be the fastest suv i have driven. So far i have not had any major problems except the fabric on the seats is not resistant of stains. Even water stains the fabric! Also the seats themselves should provide much more comfort. I am a little disgusted by the common notion that this is a "chick truck". It handles offroad just as well as my previous cherokee and actually is more fun offroad. Some day im sure this notion will change just as it did with the "grocery getter" cherokee moniker.

Fantastic! - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By Chris - August 17 - 5:56 pmI have an 04 Grand Cherokee, so the Liberty is actually my wifes vehicle. The V6 provides a good amount of power, more than I expected. At first, I wasnt a fan of the Liberty. I thought it looked a little wimpy, but its grown on me. Could use a bigger glove box and map pockets. Im a big-time Jeep fanatic and let me tell you, the off-road ability of this is nothing short of amazing.

Great - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By TKTKTOM - July 19 - 10:00 amThe drive is not harsh or truck like, much better than I expected having riden in earlier model jeeps. Also the total construction is solid, I can see how you could take one off road come back on the road and not finding rattles all over the vehicle from the bouncing. Its really put together tight.

Amazing Jeep - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By Miguel - June 29 - 5:33 pmThere is nothing that I would even compare to the Liberty, specifically the Renegade model. They have tons of power, they are strong, heavy, and built to do whatever you desire of it. My only problem is that it consumes gas at an alarming rate. This is a result of the strong V6 paired with nearly 5000 pounds of SUV.

replacing great Jeep Grand Cherokee - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By J King - June 19 - 10:33 amI love it. I hope it holds up, I think parts and service could be costly with so few sold. $25.00+ for a fuel filter?

Great Buy - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By Kris B - June 7 - 10:00 amAn all around great vehicle and absolutely exceptional for the price! The cargo area is huge and it rolls over curbs and potholes like they arent even there. There is no question I will buy another one when this one wears out. (as long is gas is not $10/gal)

Good Buy! - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By 452drexel - June 2 - 8:36 pmI bought this car for my wife, but was surprised that I, at 64", was so comfortable behind the wheel. Interior room and layout is deceptively large for a smaller vehicle. Ride quality and acceleration are also better than I expected. Overall, a well-built vehicle that will serve us well for years to come.

Fun Red Gas Swine ... - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By Thomas - May 13 - 9:33 pmThis is by far the most fun vehicle Ive ever owned! Quite civilized in traffic, holds its own on the road ... quiet enough, great visibility, seats are really comfortable. Love the new red color, too. Now that I know where all the buttons are located, Im in control. And the 4-wheel drive: I go looking for things to run over JUST BECAUSE I CAN! The only gripe (and this is a real complaint @ $50.00 a tankful) is gas mileage. Its a pig!
