This Year's Model Updates:

All 2004 Jeep Libertys now feature a passenger-side grab handle and a power accessory delay feature, while Renegade models get additional rock rail protection and black accent body side moldings. New options include UConnect, Chrysler's hands-free in-vehicle communication system, a tire-pressure monitoring system and a cargo organizer. Safety is enhanced thanks to a system that unlocks doors, illuminates interior courtesy lights and shuts off the fuel pump after airbag deployment. A new trim -- the Jeep Liberty Columbia Edition -- has been introduced, offering 16-inch graphite-painted aluminum wheels; graphite-painted fascias and body moldings; body-colored fender flares; a sun roof; fog lamps; and Columbia badging.

Pros:
  • Extremely capable off-road, creative interior design, still a Jeep at heart.
Cons:
  • Thirsty at the gas pump, not as "carlike" on the street as most of its competitors.

Great handling, comfortable seats. Good gas mileage for the gutsy-performing V-6 Turning diameter is great and in 4- wheel drive will go almost anywhere.

Great ride... very glad I decided to buy it. Handles great in snow and rain!!! Fun to drive long distances. Plenty of room and has great pick up.

  • Very Happy! - 2004 Jeep Liberty

After over 4 years we are very happy with our first Jeep. My wife wouldnt trade it even up for a new Cadillac. Very reliable. Feels, looks & rides like the day we brought it home. Comfortable and ample room for good size adults in front seats. Only new tires, one recall, and 3 warranty repairs (that were fixed right the first time) through 50K. No, its not perfect. Its not a big SUV. No back seat leg room. Rear seat does not fold flat and it does ride a bit rough over bumps(but it is a 4WD Jeep). You arent going to haul a lot of stuff or big stuff in this, but we new all this and bought accordingly. Would highly recommend as long as you check everything out and know what you are getting.

  • Rocky Mt. is a great suv - 2004 Jeep Liberty

I needed a new car to get up my steep driveway. My old Ford Thunderbird got stuck twice. My new Rocky Mt Jeep is excellent for the challange. My Mom thought so too so she bought one.

I loved loved loved my Jeep Liberty. I bought it at 108k and drove it for 2 years. I also drove it home, 500+ miles away at least once a month. The pickup and acceleration is slower than other cars, and the gas mileage was usually 20 mpg (highway). Weird noise in the rear breaks when he was running at ~30mph but it stopped over 40mph. Always had it since I changed the breaks.

  • Incredible Value - 2004 Jeep Liberty

I love this car. The looks of the Rocky Mountain are the best of any liberty. Love the wheels, tinted glass, sunroof, all the options I want w/o the extras I dont need. I dont know how people can complain about the gas mileage. I have the V6 with a 5- spd manual and avg. about 19 mixed city/highway, and 21-22 straight highway - excellent for a vehicle with this much utility. Plus the dealers give excellent incentives - best value of any SUV.

I bought a slightly used 4wd/4cylinder Sport a year ago with only 4,000 miles on it. The 4 cylinder engine needs to be bolstered a bit to handle the weight of this vehicle. It is very sluggish without much power. Thankfully, I have a 5 speed which helps acceleration. Other than that, it is a great vehicle. Very secure feeling; lots of style both inside and out. Seats are a bit hard and there arent enough cubby holes to store things, not even an ashtray for loose change! I havent had any troubles mechanically yet. I really like the ruggedness and its great for increasing the testosterone levels! Great sound system; very good vision while driving--few blind spots.

  • One year and loving it. - 2004 Jeep Liberty

I have owned my Jeep for a year now and have loved every minute of it. It is an absolute blast to drive. At this point in time, I have no complaints. Fun, fun, fun to drive. I traded tires and now have BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/As. The Jeep was great in the snow. What a mountain goat!

  • Liberty, Great idea! - 2004 Jeep Liberty

We wanted a reliable 4x4 that could take us ANYWHERE on the Big Island, accommadate everything and look tough in doing so. Having a brother do all the research was just a bonus. Gas mileage leaves something to be desired, getting only 15mpg, however it is a V6 and we live on a mountain so...The toughest decision at this point is whether to have the windows tinted silver or black. Have considered getting another Liberty but think a Wrangler will be in order instead.

  • Nice vehicle - 2004 Jeep Liberty

Took the Liberty over Xterra at my wifes insistence and I am pleasantly surprised. Braking is excellent with 4 wheel disc and no ABS, handling is fine, interior controls took a while to get used to but all within eay reach and intuitive. Easily slips into and out of 4WD. Better than rated gas mileage - I did a 50+ mile commute on a snowy day in 4WD the whole way and go better than 19 mpg. My only complaint is the short seat and Im only 510".
