This Year's Model Updates:

For the 2003 Jeep Liberty, a new overhead console, based on that of the Grand Cherokee, includes a unique interface that allows passengers to program the operation of nine convenience and safety items to their own preference. Liberty owners can now personalize several features, including which doors unlock with the first press of the remote keyless entry unlock button, the miles driven between service intervals and the amount of time the headlamps remain on when exiting the vehicle. Finally, an available six-disc in-dash CD player replaces the cargo area mounted unit. Standard four-wheel disc brakes endow the Jeep with improved brake feel on-road, decreased stopping distances and reduced brake fade. Available electrochromic interior and driver-side rearview mirrors help reduce headlight glare from traffic at night, and standard sliding sun visors have been added, which serve to keep the sun out of your eyes by providing added windshield and side glass coverage.

Pros:
  • Extremely capable off-road, creative interior design, still a Jeep at heart.
Cons:
  • Thirsty at the gas pump, not as "carlike" as most of its competitors.

  • not satisfied - 2003 Jeep Liberty

purchased"brand new" and left from dealership on a 500 mile trip. We noticed a vibration from 45to60mph. Since returning home the complete rearend and driveshaft were replaced. The vibration is not as bad but still there. Also, now it has a vibration around 30to35mph. This problem is under investigation by jeep engineers. Manufacture date 7-02. We like the liberty, but are trying to get the dealership to order a replacement just like this one, with no luck yet! NOT SATISFIED!

  • recommend over all over small utes - 2003 Jeep Liberty

i looked at all other small sport utes on market and this is the best. build quality, interior/exterior fine fit/finish, comfortable ride, good handling, smooth steering, good power, needs better gas mileage, smooth tranny, rear seat needs to fold flat, great headroom for 6 fters, good ergonomics, suspension is good-a little rough on big bumps, but that is to be expected for this type of vehicle, factory sound system sucks, good in snow/rain, would like to be able to get different tire brand, goodyears are terrible...

  • Jeep Liberty is pretty good - 2003 Jeep Liberty

The Jeep Liberty is a fine vehicle. It is comfortable and has a solid engine that generates sufficient power for its weight. The radio controls on the steering wheel are quite cool. It feels a little top heavy during tight maneuvering but weve never lifted the wheels off the ground. The steering is tight but sometimes does not want to return to neutral steering, without input.

SO FAR SO GOOD, I AM 63" AND HAVE SO MUCH LEG ROOM THAT I CANT PUT THE SEAT ALL THE WAY BACK, NOW THATS NEWS TO ME. ITS GREAT. DONT MUCH CARD FOR THAT ANTENNA, BUT OVERALL AFTER 3000 MILES I AM LOVING IT.

  • Love my Jeep, but its not for everyone - 2003 Jeep Liberty

I have never had a vehicle that I enjoyed more. I had sliding around issues in rain, but that went away when I replaced the original stock el-cheapo tires. The only issues I can think of are the back seats wont fold down flat and the gas mileage-otherwise it handles like a sports car on the road, and off road its quite capable

  • Capable 4x4 Vehicle - 2003 Jeep Liberty
    By -

Usefull vehicle good ofroading can take lots of pounding, yet is quite on road. Good acceleration for its weight. Fuel economy is not so great but the difference is not huge since compared with other vehicles with better fuel economy going on incline road or fully loaded the smaller engine (RAV 4) has to over rev to keep up with speed and losses its fuel economy advantage. Very reliable, quite and confortable.

  • Very pleased - 2003 Jeep Liberty

Great vehicle that feels very solid and has good power. The cloth seats are very comfortable and seem to be made of material that should wear well. I am 510" and 260lbs and have ample room inside. Due to great road height visibility is excellent, and insurance rates are very good. CR gave it average reliability (which is much better than a Ford/Mazda SUV), and I have gotten several comments on the great color (Patriot Blue). I had to go to a couple of dealerships to get a good deal, but 0% for 60 and 7 year 70000 powertrain are hard to beat.

  • Fun with the Liberty - 2003 Jeep Liberty

I have been driving the vehicle for about three weeks and have loved it. I love the way it handles and turns. Its a bit rough as far as the ride but what the heck its fun to drive and I knew I wasnt buying a Caddie.

  • Very Nice SUV to Drive - 2003 Jeep Liberty

I have had the Jeep Liberty Limited for about two weeks. It is very much what I expected. It is very comfortable and the ride for this type of vehicle is very nice. The looks set it apart from the others in its class. The interior is a much better quality then that of the Ford Escape and the Hyundai. This is a must see car.

I wanted the sporty look, but live in a city so I chose the Jeep Liberty. Looks sporty, not like the updated station wagons (Crossover vehicles), great interior, the ride was a little rough at first but changed out the stock tires and it rides like a luxury car. The one big minus the Liberty has, it has always been a little gas guzzler from day one! Dont let the small tank fool you - you will be filling it quite often. Now, at 61,500 miles it looks as if I may have to trade it, although I really dont want to. Everything works great, except we now have a knock in the transmission in first gear. Im just not into making car payments and major repairs. Sorry Jeep Liberty.
