This Year's Model Updates:

For the 2003 Jeep Liberty, a new overhead console, based on that of the Grand Cherokee, includes a unique interface that allows passengers to program the operation of nine convenience and safety items to their own preference. Liberty owners can now personalize several features, including which doors unlock with the first press of the remote keyless entry unlock button, the miles driven between service intervals and the amount of time the headlamps remain on when exiting the vehicle. Finally, an available six-disc in-dash CD player replaces the cargo area mounted unit. Standard four-wheel disc brakes endow the Jeep with improved brake feel on-road, decreased stopping distances and reduced brake fade. Available electrochromic interior and driver-side rearview mirrors help reduce headlight glare from traffic at night, and standard sliding sun visors have been added, which serve to keep the sun out of your eyes by providing added windshield and side glass coverage.

Pros:
  • Extremely capable off-road, creative interior design, still a Jeep at heart.
Cons:
  • Thirsty at the gas pump, not as "carlike" as most of its competitors.

I have had the Liberty for 3 years now, and am very happy with it. If only the gas companies would lower prices! :) I am thinking that the next one will be a Grand Cherokee with a diesel in it ... due out within the next few years.

This is my second Jeep Liberty, which I got by traded the first one in. My previous one was Liberty Limited Edition (2002) and this time Liberty Renegade (2003). Both of them have 3.7 Liter, V6 engine. I have driven 20,000 miles with my previous Jeep Liberty (Limited Ed.) in one year. Both off road and on road driving with this vehicle class is great. It is a small SUV with a power of big one. I hauled the biggest U-haul trailer (12x6) with Jeep Liberty (Limited Ed.) without any trouble at all.

I have had this Jeep since 2004, used to be my fleet truck and purchased t for personal use since knew history, no problems to report until recently an electrical short due to water contact on an electrical plug on the floor under the back seat ( what was jeep thinking when they designed this??? ) cost 500 to fix otherwise good ride and with my three huge dogs no torn seat fabrics , impressive compared to my previous cars. Could say a lot about gas mileage however well worth to visit dealer for CPU updates, the one to reconfigure tranny is well worth it, no more hard shifts and bit better gas mileage. All around good performance, noise level a bit high inside but acceptable.

For the last 15 years, I have owned luxury cars...mercedes, bmw, audi. My last car was a 2002 audi a4. While my car was in for its 10,000 mile checkup, I was give a jeep liberty as a loaner. I had more fun in that car than I had had in years. I promptly sold my audi and bought a jeep liberty limited. I havent regretted that decision. My jeep is a fun, fun experience!

  • Best Vehicle Ive Ever Had! - 2003 Jeep Liberty

We sadly have to exchange our Jeep Liberty in for a more fuel efficient vehicle because we live about half an hour to 45 minutes away from work. Other than that reason alone, we would not be looking for a car. The Jeep Liberty has been the most fun and the most reliable vehicle I have ever driven.

This is my first vehicle purchase, after leasing a Ford Escort---followed by a Ford Explorer for 3 years. I had bad experiences with my first Jeep in 1990. My 2003 Liberty Limited is absolutely AWESOME!

I love my jeep liberty.. the only thing I would complain about is that every jeep liberty owner that Ive talked to has had the same problem.. they develope a squeaking noise after the first year thats attributed to the water pump.. That can be a little annoying...Other than that I love my jeep,it does very good in the snow and the mud.. I love it!!!

  • A GREAT CAR - 2003 Jeep Liberty

I just bought my jeep Liberty renegade and its so much fun to drive, it is a very comfortable car, a great sound system, it has amazing handling, and makes you feel totally in control of the road without being too huge & bulky. Even though its a gas and mileage eater I absolutely love my car because all the other elements this car has to offer far surpass that. I can drive over a curb like a piece of paper ... he he....
