This Year's Model Updates:

All 2004 Jeep Libertys now feature a passenger-side grab handle and a power accessory delay feature, while Renegade models get additional rock rail protection and black accent body side moldings. New options include UConnect, Chrysler's hands-free in-vehicle communication system, a tire-pressure monitoring system and a cargo organizer. Safety is enhanced thanks to a system that unlocks doors, illuminates interior courtesy lights and shuts off the fuel pump after airbag deployment. A new trim -- the Jeep Liberty Columbia Edition -- has been introduced, offering 16-inch graphite-painted aluminum wheels; graphite-painted fascias and body moldings; body-colored fender flares; a sun roof; fog lamps; and Columbia badging.

Pros:
  • Extremely capable off-road, creative interior design, still a Jeep at heart.
Cons:
  • Thirsty at the gas pump, not as "carlike" on the street as most of its competitors.

I just chose jeep liberty in Aug. I drove a number of other suvs but love the smooth easy ride of the jeep the best. I love the features inside as well. It rides like a "jeep" but feels like a luxury car inside. It handles easily, love the braking system, and is smooth and quiet on the road. The mpg really hasnt reached potential yet, as it is still really new. I am getting about 16-17 mpg. to work (city driving) better on highway. Hoping this will improve as the engine breaks in. Although thats not too bad (much better than the van I was driving).

Recently bought Jeep Liberty 4WD Sport. Built well, tight,no rattles. Easy to manuver off road and sure-footed. On- road, solid, truck feel, good power. Gas milage is 18 m.p.g. A lot better than my 10 m.p.g. for a 2WD Supercab truck. This wont be my last Jeep. Dealer was the best.

This was my wifes car. First things first; We loved it, its very safe and reliable, lots of room, never had any major problems with it. Only minor things or expected things like changing the tires and light bulbs. It had 78k miles on it but we lost it due to a t-bone accident. My wife was hit on the drivers side by a pickup truck and the jeep was totaled and my wife walked away with only a couple scratches and bruises. So i found that the Jeep is SAFE!

  • Back to a Jeep--after 13 years. - 2004 Jeep Liberty

I had been driving Toyota 4-Runners for 13 years, and decided it was time for a change. I was looking for a smaller SUV, lower price tag, better mileage, easy maneuverability, but one with ample room for luggage and a large dog. 4WD is essential where I live (PA and MA). The Jeep Liberty won out, hands down, over comparable models by Toyota, Ford, Subaru, and Chevy. It has a powerful engine, traditional Jeep 4WD, a lot of energy on the highway, a comfortable cockpit with easily reached controls, and a nice suspension system that takes some of the lumps out of the potholes, and smoothes out undeveloped and poorly maintained roads.

I have enjoyed my Libety from day 1, it performs excellent and I love the boudy style. I beliveve that I will be trading up in a couple of years, for a newer liberty. They are just too cool.

I think that your guys are harder on this truck than the others. It has the rear outlet, nice bucket seats, all the options (a standard CD player - beat that!) and the AC kicks. I should know - I live in Louisiana. It is about 100 degrees every day here during the Summer. Tinted Glass, alloy rims and cruise control were only $800 to add on. Try about $3000 with the Ford Escape. Best value for the money. With tax included (at 9% too) I paid under $21,000. It blows the doors off an Xterra, Element, Sorrento and Isuzu for value. Rugged design with a knack for knowing we all drive on the road not the dirt. Xterra could learn something here!

  • Way to go Toledo! - 2004 Jeep Liberty

We traded in my wifes Toyota RAV4 for this Jeep largely due to Toyotas poor customer service in Hawaii. I couldnt drive or ride in the RAV4 because it made me carsick for some reason. So the Jeep was a good trade. I must admit we spent way more than we should have since dealers in Hawaii are a big rip off! The only problem we have had with the Liberty was a flasher that went out last spring $38 part from the dealership and I put it in myself in under 20 minutes. I would prefer better tires than the Goodyears that are on it now. Its good to see that Jeep is still making a good product and keeping Americans employed in Toledo, Ohio. Thanks MOPAR for our family car.
