This Year's Model Updates:

All 2004 Jeep Libertys now feature a passenger-side grab handle and a power accessory delay feature, while Renegade models get additional rock rail protection and black accent body side moldings. New options include UConnect, Chrysler's hands-free in-vehicle communication system, a tire-pressure monitoring system and a cargo organizer. Safety is enhanced thanks to a system that unlocks doors, illuminates interior courtesy lights and shuts off the fuel pump after airbag deployment. A new trim -- the Jeep Liberty Columbia Edition -- has been introduced, offering 16-inch graphite-painted aluminum wheels; graphite-painted fascias and body moldings; body-colored fender flares; a sun roof; fog lamps; and Columbia badging.

Pros:
  • Extremely capable off-road, creative interior design, still a Jeep at heart.
Cons:
  • Thirsty at the gas pump, not as "carlike" on the street as most of its competitors.

This SUV is great. Gets good gas mileage, handles well and is a comfort to ride in. Plenty of rear passenger room and storage space.

Once again, Jeep has built a very reliable vehicle that lives up to its offroad name. The engine is good, The 4WD and towing are better. Stearing is very nimble and the Curise control handles very well. Now that Im used to her size, I parallel park deftly into spots my roomate with a Civic only tries if hes feeling cocky. :)

My Jeep has been great. Very reliable and can handle all of the elements, snow, rain, wind. Excellent at high elevations, grips the road. A little bit of a bumpy ride but hey its a Jeep. No mechanical issues at all. Regular maintenance. Very zippy. I have driven it in the mountains and across the rivers and it can handle it

I traded in my explorer for this tiny thing that they call a JEEP and I will never go back. This vehicle is just awesome, ford cant touch this. Gas is a problem but its worth the extra money to be able to drive around in my JEEP.

I have not had my Jeep very long, but it is comfortable, and handles very well. The night I bought it there was a bad electrical storm with loads of rain. The 4WD handled beautifully and was easy to turn on and off.

This Liberty is a nice little truck. It has a great 210 HP V6 engine with good acceleration, a nice design, and a good ride for a truck. Ive been to the dealer once with a "transmission problem", but it was fixed and it runs great now.

  • Nothing better in the snow - 2004 Jeep Liberty

I bought my jeep last December, just before one of the biggest blizzards in New England for the last 20 years. Couldnt resist trying it out in adverse circumstances and took it out in the teeth of the storm. I was impressed to say the least. I made it up ramp with a 12% grade, passing a F150 that couldnt make it. The gas mileage is poor -- especially in the city. If they cant design it to get better mileage without affecting performance, they should increase the size of the gas tank. A vehicle should have a range of at least 300 miles.

The car has some good points ice cold air, great sound system ,and oh yea 4 wheel drive!!!but the biggies were poor gas mileage, some what of a rough ride even on the highway, could use a little larger engin like the Chevy Blazer 4.3 liter vortech v6 "what a nice 1 that was"and the price could have been a little kinder.28k for a little fun ride? Come on!

  • where do we start? - 2004 Jeep Liberty

electrical problems, rear passenger window fell down inside door by itself, a.c. system replaced, valve cover gaskets replaced, head lamp flashes on and off by itself, battery died (twice),radiator failed, lower coolant hose failed, hydraulic lift supports for both hood and rear window failed , radio volume control does not work, recall for front suspension bushings replaced, recall (now) for dangerous gas tank must take to dealer to install tow hitch to protect gas tank, 92,000 miles young. most of this has taken place in the four years we have owned the vehicle. bought it with 38,000 miles. the larger problems have been address in th elast 6 months.gas mileage ridiculous.

  • Love my Jeep - 2004 Jeep Liberty

First time owner of a Jeep, test drove the Wrangler but the ride is too much for daily driving. The Liberty gave me a great alternative. I have a Honda CR-V w/ AWD but I missed the control of a manual true 4WD. Bought the car used as a second family car but loved it so much it became my primary form of transportation. I love this SUV, my wife drives the Honda now.
