Overview & Reviews
An all-new diesel engine option makes its debut for the 2005 Jeep Liberty. Exterior appearance changes this year include a new front fascia, grille, foglamps, fender flares and body side moldings. Interior upgrades include relocated power window switches, new instrument panel cluster graphics and trim bezels and improved seat comfort. The Renegade model gets a flatter hood, taller grille, off-road foglamps and taillamp guards, as well as functional rock rails and four skid plates. A new six-speed manual transmission replaces last year's five-speed unit.
- Extremely capable off-road, creative interior design, economical diesel engine option, still a Jeep at heart.
- Gas engines are rather thirsty at the pump, not as "carlike" on the street as most of its competitors, less cargo space than some of its competitors.

After Two Year, Im Very Impressed - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By fletchman - October 28 - 4:43 pmIve had my 05 Liberty Limited for two years now, and after 30,000 miles, Im very impressed. Ive not had a bit of trouble with this vehicle. I cant believe the improvement in build quality over the past 20 years for Jeep. All I do is perform regular service, and drive it. I love this vehicle. A lot of times Im on the freeway, and the luxury features of the Ltd. are great. Other times Im using the 4WD to get to trail heads or on snowy or icy roads. Never a lick of stress or strain. Great vehicle. The gas mileage stinks, but this is a truck shaped like a box, not a car shaped like a wedge. Also, I can put my bike in the back upright with the rear seats down, front bike tire off.

This is a great SUV - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By james sherman - October 27 - 9:30 ami have had my Jeep Liberty since March when I got it and it has done everything that I wanted it to do. Like tow 3 four wheelers up on a trailer with no problem up and down hills. And its four wheel drive, well its just awesome. It will go anywhere you want too; this is just a great vehicle from jeep

Lady Liberty - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By Bobbe - October 26 - 3:23 amShe is a pleasure to drive. I have complete confidence in her. The GPS has made this "old lady" more comfortable about going to new places alone. My son thinks it is too small, but he owns a 2004 Grand Cherokee; the Liberty is perfect for me and my needs. If I had any complaint, it would be the inability to see easily when backing out of parking spaces. Front view is fine.

2005 CRD Liberty - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By Pete Josenhans - October 7 - 11:23 amThe outstanding engineering behind the new CRD engine qualifies as such a joy. And I am here to tell you that this engine blows away (no pun intended) all the myths and conventional thinking that we have come to associate with diesel engines over the years. With no visible smoke, no apparent diesel smell and a whisper quiet engine sound at highway speeds, this vehicle actually out-ran many gas engine vehicles in the mountains of California, Oregon and Washington on a recent trip. At one gas station, a trucker even walked up to my son and unwittingly said: Excuse me son, but do you know that youre putting diesel fuel into that Jeep? No one seems to know about next gen diesel technology.

Love our Jeep Liberty!! - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By Meg - September 16 - 11:13 pmWe just bought a used Liberty and we love it! The back door is my favorite feature. Its comfortable to drive, theres plenty of power and gas mileage is good. It drives like a Jeep, not like a car, which is what we we wanted and were expecting. If you want a great little Jeep to take off road and to the store, get a Liberty! Buy American!

The cargo area in the rear is great for groceries or whatever you may have to toss back there. Plenty of room and very comfortable. Good sound system. Im feeling good about my purchase and got a great deal. Check one out, you wont be sorry.

Everything I want I have in my Jeep - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By Chase - July 28 - 11:20 amI have been looking and test driving the Liberty for the past year and have to say that I am glad I waited for the 2005 trim. Love the chrome accents and have to say that with a Jeep I never expected the ride to be so nice. Really appreciate the great back support of the seats, makes it relaxing for longer road trips to the cabin and lake.

Outstanding! - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By Glenn - June 16 - 12:10 amIve had a Cherokee and a Wrangler, but this Liberty Limited has blown me away. The ride is quiet, the power is just right, the luxury on my Limited is more than Ive ever had but I certainly appreciate it. I find the size just about right. My preference is for compact SUVs but Ive grown into this one. Highway noise is minimal and ride is confident. This thing is better in the snow (New England) than the Cherokee or Wrangler were. I have zero complaints. Even the horn button in the steering wheel is perfectly placed.

Diesel Liberty - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By redwolf - June 8 - 4:43 amStill too new to give a thorough review but love it so far. A little concerned about the care of a diesel and want to try the biodiesel fuel. Very fun to drive and with a bad back, its very easy to get in and out of. The CD player got very hot its first time out so not happy about that, but perhaps we played it too long? Although I dont think that should matter. My son is taller so he was not as comfortable.

Jeep owner - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By jeep owner - May 25 - 11:13 pmAbsolutely love the vehicle, so far. Bought it in July. The only thing that I havent really enjoyed is the fact that when I filled it the first time, and calculated the miles per gallon, it was at 15. I traded a Hyundai Elantra to get it, and I am used to about 25 mpg. It definitely does take a lot of gas, but if you dont drive a lot, its the perfect vehicle.
