This Year's Model Updates:

For the 2003 Jeep Liberty, a new overhead console, based on that of the Grand Cherokee, includes a unique interface that allows passengers to program the operation of nine convenience and safety items to their own preference. Liberty owners can now personalize several features, including which doors unlock with the first press of the remote keyless entry unlock button, the miles driven between service intervals and the amount of time the headlamps remain on when exiting the vehicle. Finally, an available six-disc in-dash CD player replaces the cargo area mounted unit. Standard four-wheel disc brakes endow the Jeep with improved brake feel on-road, decreased stopping distances and reduced brake fade. Available electrochromic interior and driver-side rearview mirrors help reduce headlight glare from traffic at night, and standard sliding sun visors have been added, which serve to keep the sun out of your eyes by providing added windshield and side glass coverage.

Pros:
  • Extremely capable off-road, creative interior design, still a Jeep at heart.
Cons:
  • Thirsty at the gas pump, not as "carlike" as most of its competitors.

  • I love it! - 2003 Jeep Liberty

I have had Jeep jeep for 2 years and really love it. I didnt expect the gas mileage to be great and it is not. I love the interior; wish there was a bit more cargo space and the compartment space for the front is a bit small. Driving around town with 3 young kids is easy and running errands are no problem. Taking long trips are a bit more tricky since the cargo space is limited. We bought a roof top carrier to correct this problem and now long distance trips are a breeze! I would definitely recommend this Jeep Liberty to anyone looking for a small SUV. It is fun to drive and looks very sporty.

From the time I purchased this vehicle a year ago, it has been nothing but trouble. I have had problems with the alignment (four adjustments), worn out shocks, power window and door locks, and have recently had to get new brakes. I am not at all rough on this vehicle. It was built poorly, and I would not recommend the Liberty to anyone. Go for an Eplorer or Sante Fe instead. I have had it in 11 times this year. That is ridiculous for a new vehicle. Do yourself a favor and do not buy a Liberty.

Overall,my Jeep Liberty had exceeded my expectations. It handles well on road and off road, (I drive over 100 miles per day). The engine is powerful and the braking system is strong. The balance of weight front and rear make the traction excellent under all weather conditions and on all terrain. My only criticism is the windshield which chips when impacted my the tiniest of debris.

After many weeks of shopping around for a mini-suv this was absolutely THE best choice for the money. I looked at the Honda Element, and the CR-V, but they didnt compare to what the Liberty offered. The Element failed because it had only 4 seats and the front seat belts were tied into the suicide doors. The CR-V was too small, had under-whelming power and was too expensive.

Great SUV so far. Only 3 complains. Right rear window has significant wind noise. Pulls to the right. Gas milage sucks. Not bad for 12000 miles. I have not taken it back to the dealer for the minor problems yet because my wife wont give it up for a day yet. Havent been off road yet, but I plan too soon.

New Liberty is fun to drive and gets a lot of interest on the streets. Powerful and responsive. Love all the options and 3.7L 4X4 with 210 horses under the hood! Got mine with a 7 year 70K bumper to bumper for 19,700! Drove Sante Fe, Escape and Tribute.....nothing compares to the Liberty.....Great job JEEP!
