Overview & Reviews
An all-new diesel engine option makes its debut for the 2005 Jeep Liberty. Exterior appearance changes this year include a new front fascia, grille, foglamps, fender flares and body side moldings. Interior upgrades include relocated power window switches, new instrument panel cluster graphics and trim bezels and improved seat comfort. The Renegade model gets a flatter hood, taller grille, off-road foglamps and taillamp guards, as well as functional rock rails and four skid plates. A new six-speed manual transmission replaces last year's five-speed unit.
- Extremely capable off-road, creative interior design, economical diesel engine option, still a Jeep at heart.
- Gas engines are rather thirsty at the pump, not as "carlike" on the street as most of its competitors, less cargo space than some of its competitors.

Jeep Liberty Limited - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By G L - October 1 - 5:43 amThis is an awesome vehicle on and off the highway. I have nothing but extreme positives for this vehicle except for the gas mileage which could be better; however, all of the other assets make this worth it to me.

Pleased with Jeep Liberty - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By Donna Ripley - September 12 - 11:10 amI am very pleased with this vehicle so far. I did much searching before deciding on the Jeep Liberty and think the sporty look of this vehicle was a deciding factor in my purchase. Being a Jeep owner previously, I am pleased with the durability and performance of the Jeep brand.

Im LOVIN it! - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By snowbordet - September 2 - 5:20 amThis is the most classy, reliable fun car I have ever had. Its extremely maneuverable and has a nice ride for being a small SUV. Its got plenty of storage space in the back considering its a small vehicle. I have not had any problems in ANY type of weather and Ive pretty much encountered it all (rain, snow, ice, strong gusts of wind, hail).

New Car - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By Patricia Nuhfer - June 26 - 9:16 amTraded in my 02 Nissan Xterra. I find the ride in the Jeep Liberty more comfortable not as truck like as the Xterra. One big factor in buying this was the 0% financing, which enabled me to purchase the Limited with all of the extras.

2005 Jeep Renegade 4X4 - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By Andrew - April 13 - 1:20 amI traded in my 2001 Camaro SS for this vehicle. I needed a practical vehicle for every day driving. Its awesome in the snow. I flew by other new vehicles which got stuck in the snow. Its great for when I go shopping with my wife. It has great room and very comfortable. I test drove other vehicles before purchasing this one such as the Chevy Equinox and Mazda 3. The Jeep outperformed both and is much more quiet and smooth on the road. The off road lights are very bright. Forget about xenon lights, these are much brighter! Ground clearance is perfect. Gas mileage is what youd expect from an SUV. As long as you drive it normally its good on gas. I really enjoy driving my new Jeep!!

2.8 Diesel Sport - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By farout - April 8 - 1:30 pmThe 2.8 rides more comfortable and feels more stable than the gasoline 3.7 Fuel. MPG is less than expected, but durability should be a far better than the 3.7. The 5 speed automatic is well matched with the 2.8.

Youve Missed the Point - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By Bob Gagne - March 21 - 10:00 amIf you are buying a Liberty just to do your on-road erends, you have missed the point of this vehicle. It is every bit as at home off road as on. There are smoother riding, better handling compact SUVs out there, but, in my opinion, they dont make it off road. The Liberty is a good compromize between off and on road abilities. I have owned two Wranglers before the Liberty, and the Liberty can go just about anywhere I could go with my Wrangler, but it is a loit bettter handling on the highway than the Wrangler and much more comfortable to drive in for long distances.
