This Year's Model Updates:

All 2004 Jeep Libertys now feature a passenger-side grab handle and a power accessory delay feature, while Renegade models get additional rock rail protection and black accent body side moldings. New options include UConnect, Chrysler's hands-free in-vehicle communication system, a tire-pressure monitoring system and a cargo organizer. Safety is enhanced thanks to a system that unlocks doors, illuminates interior courtesy lights and shuts off the fuel pump after airbag deployment. A new trim -- the Jeep Liberty Columbia Edition -- has been introduced, offering 16-inch graphite-painted aluminum wheels; graphite-painted fascias and body moldings; body-colored fender flares; a sun roof; fog lamps; and Columbia badging.

Pros:
  • Extremely capable off-road, creative interior design, still a Jeep at heart.
Cons:
  • Thirsty at the gas pump, not as "carlike" on the street as most of its competitors.

I have 1,200 miles on my 04Liberty Ltd. I love it!! I traded my 97 Jeep GC in. Reliability was very good, excellent offroad capability. I expect the same from the Liberty. I was looking to keep the price under 28-30 k.Leather heated seats,sunroof,6-disc cd chgr and more for $28,310, and got it under invice. Fit and finish- interior is excellent. Very solid feel.I looked at other small suvs in this class, for what you get for the money. This is it! Do your homework and check around. If you are looking for something small to midsize, and offroad capability. Take a good look at the Jeep Liberty.

Bought my Liberty on 12/17/02, have had absolutely no problems at all. 23500 miles in almost two years, and only time it was in for service was for oil change and 2 recalls (minor). Very durable was rearended about 2 weeks ago and dent or even scratch. Very satisfied with everything all around and love the security and comfort provided by the waranty.

I had a 2004 Liberty 2wd I purchased in 2007 with 20k miles. Other than the window motors on the drivers side going out all I ever had to do was change a couple headlight bulbs, change the oil, and 2 sets of tires. Never even put a set of brakes on the thing! It handled everything I threw at it and I never once thought twice about driving it across the country. I sold it with 180k miles on it in 2014 and I absolutely miss it. I will be in the market for a 4 door Wrangler soon!

All I can say is that this vehicle was a splendid surprise. I went from 95 Cirrus to a 98 Astro (Great) to this cute little Liberty. I bought it used with 4000 miles. It immediately had some serious vibration and lurching (it was fine on test drive) and took it back the first day and they gave me a nice loaner and promised to resolve it in a timely manner. They showed me what they replaced and why (all brake associated). They were professional, made sure I had my registration plates (no paper tag!), full tank, and a letter of apology for the problem with a coupon for free oil changes. OUTSTANDING. Factory defect on the bumper, repaired with new bumper and paint.

We bought this Jeep thinking it would be reliable for our daughter as she just turned 16. So far shes terrified to drive it because the car has spun multiple times from poor traction. Ive sat it in more now and see that the seats are extremely uncomfortable, the technology/music is hard to reach and you have to lean forward to get to it. The wheel base is short and the vehicle is hard to turn and maneuver when you are an inexperienced driver, I wish that my husband and I would have gotten a better car for our daughter and we are highly considering getting her a different car.

I have the 5 speed. This has been a great vehicle to own. I now have over 19k on the car, and its still going great. No problems and it still has that awesome pickup, especially with my 5 speed. And in the snow, this baby goes. Worth every dollar.

I feel like alot of people get an SUV to just have one- If you watch Ford Commercials they show Explorers in the middle of the city- please thats not an SUV- The Liberty is a great OUTDOOR vehicle. Sure its great in the city- but its also nice when the weather is far from great, or the roads are slick.
