This Year's Model Updates:

The Jeep Liberty's Renegade trim has been discontinued for 2007. Also, the 2.8-liter diesel engine is no longer available.

Pros:
  • Extremely capable off-road, high tow capacity.
Cons:
  • V6 is rather thirsty at the pump, not as "carlike" on the street as most of its competitors.

  • Dont Buy One!! - 2007 Jeep Liberty

I have owned numerous Chrysler products and this is the last one! Chrysler will not stand behind their vehicle as I have had the Jeep in four times for a surging issue which they cannot fix. Chrysler does not seem concerned to make it right either. The last three Chrylsers have ALL had transmission issues and this Liberty is no exception. If you buy any Chrysler and have any problems, do not expect the company to stand behind their products....because they wont!

I love it so much, I bought a second one and will buy a third because it meets the needs of my family living on a mountain. Handles tight hilly roads even in the sleet & snow. Roomy enough inside for my large frame. Covered expandable cargo area carries stuff from mulch to the larger unexpected garage sale treasure. My wife bought one too.

Intentions was not to buy the Jeep as a matter of fact, I say it on the show room floor like the color and the options so decided to buy. My wife looks straight ahead when she drives and because of that hits about every pot hole. The ruggedness of the vehicle is a plus. The first year took a 2000 mile trip and got right around 25.1 mpg. I change the oil every 3000 mile and rotate the tires every 5000. Got all five tires filled with nitrogen and it helps. Last year we went to Ocean City Maryland roughly 1200 miles and got 23- 24 mpg. Bought seat covers when we got it so no problem with stains. Also no problems with the windows. One door you can hear air when highway driving.

I love my Liberty except for the frustration with the dealerships/manufacturer regarding the defective windows. To fix, you must buy a whole new window and regulator/gear combo. This is very expensive. I have replaced one, two are broken and wont stay up/ its raining and cold here and I have small children, and the fourth is chattering and will fail any day. I dont see why I have to pay when they admit they have a defective design which is why the whole window must be replaced. This is way to costly a repair for the consumer to bear. With whats happening with Toyota, youd think theyd want to keep their customers happy.

Windows stick. Required dealership repair. Glass on from windshield broke. Cause of break is not apparent/obvious. the cabin gives no protection from road noise, wind noises, etc Makes for a very noisy ride. Stereo system is mediocre (at best).
