This Year's Model Updates:

All 2004 Jeep Libertys now feature a passenger-side grab handle and a power accessory delay feature, while Renegade models get additional rock rail protection and black accent body side moldings. New options include UConnect, Chrysler's hands-free in-vehicle communication system, a tire-pressure monitoring system and a cargo organizer. Safety is enhanced thanks to a system that unlocks doors, illuminates interior courtesy lights and shuts off the fuel pump after airbag deployment. A new trim -- the Jeep Liberty Columbia Edition -- has been introduced, offering 16-inch graphite-painted aluminum wheels; graphite-painted fascias and body moldings; body-colored fender flares; a sun roof; fog lamps; and Columbia badging.

Pros:
  • Extremely capable off-road, creative interior design, still a Jeep at heart.
Cons:
  • Thirsty at the gas pump, not as "carlike" on the street as most of its competitors.

I was pleasantly surprised by the 2004 Jeep Liberty. It displayed and soild firm ride quality, and great handling habits. The build Quality was also better than I expected. The truck(yes it is a real truck) was what my girlfriend wanted and I pushed against it... however after I drove it I was happyly surprised. I budged much more money for an SUV but this is a great truck for the money, and feels like many of the more expensive less capable trucks

The Liberty provides a confident ride. When Shutting the doors you get a sense of excellent build quality. The V6 offers ample get up and go power on the highway when needed. The Select trac feature on the 4wd model of proficient in snow and sno/ice conditions and very capable off road. It was an excellent choice for me.

I am really enjoying my jeep liberty a lot. I am looking forward to the winter as I brought it after all the snow fell, but I have a friend who has one and says they are great in the snow !

This is my first jeep and if the liberty continues the way it has, this will not be my last. We traded in a suburban for this jeep. I was nervous at first, but absolutely love the jeep. That is a peppy little v-6 under the hood. The interior is great. It is one tough looking little sucker on the outside too. Gas mileage is about what the sticker said. Coming from a Suburban, we are ecstatic! Getting between 17 and 18 with a mix of hwy and city. Havent put it on the highway for a trip yet. Great incentives to buy right now too. I really like this SUV. Once we drive it a little more, Ill post another

I have had my car for about 4 months and I absoultely love it!! I find every excuse I can to drive it. I love being up high in a SUV, I feel so powerful!! I love the color of my car, it is blue. I was warned about the gas mileage but I have found it to be better than expected. I highly recommend this car to anyone.

  • Buy a warranty if you get a Jeep - 2004 Jeep Liberty

We purchased our nearly new Liberty Limited in April 2005, with only 12K on the odometer. We installed a set of new tires two yrs ago, installed a new battery and new brakes one year ago. It recently hit the 80K mark and in the last three months, they replaced the High Pressure Power Steering hose, the Alternator, Water Pump, Serpentine Belt, and today a brand new Radiator and new Hoses was added to the list. Fortunately we had purchased an extended warranty so everything except hoses/belts/fluids was covered, but we had to pay a $50 ded. each time... Word to the wise... its a Chrysler product and purchasing an extended warranty is well worth the money...

I find the transmission shifting from 1st to 2nd very hard. Then when coming to a stop it doesnt down shift back to 1st until about 4 seconds after I stop. The dealer claims its just learning my driving style & when it learns it ... this will stop??? I have owned V-8s that get better gas mileage. I find 14mpg in the city as being unacceptable from such a small 3.7L engine.

I love it! Jeep is an acquired taste. If you arent a Jeep-lover, dont buy it! Best off-road performance Ive seen in its class. Handling is better than I expected on- road.
