This Year's Model Updates:

An all-new diesel engine option makes its debut for the 2005 Jeep Liberty. Exterior appearance changes this year include a new front fascia, grille, foglamps, fender flares and body side moldings. Interior upgrades include relocated power window switches, new instrument panel cluster graphics and trim bezels and improved seat comfort. The Renegade model gets a flatter hood, taller grille, off-road foglamps and taillamp guards, as well as functional rock rails and four skid plates. A new six-speed manual transmission replaces last year's five-speed unit.

Pros:
  • Extremely capable off-road, creative interior design, economical diesel engine option, still a Jeep at heart.
Cons:
  • Gas engines are rather thirsty at the pump, not as "carlike" on the street as most of its competitors, less cargo space than some of its competitors.

The Liberty follows the true Jeep tradition of unparalleled off-road capability. If you actually use 4x4 then Jeep is the only real choice. Id never even consider anything else.

Just bought my new Liberty Limited a week ago. I LOVE this car! Its got Spirit! So glad that I nixed others in its class. I wanted a car that was not too big, and not too small. The size of the Liberty is perfect, and rear seating is fine. The chrome wheels, chrome grill and side strip really dress it up. Great pick up and all the power I want. Turns on a dime, and handles great. Fun to drive. Some have complained about gas mileage, but its not that far off from competing models and I decided not to make gas mileage the primary factor in buying.

Great product! Averaging 30miles/gallon Canadian. No speeding in this thing although it is fast. Youll find the mileage will stink as the turbo kicks in, so Chrysler suggests best mileage is at 55 mph. Very practical with a 5000 lb. towing capacity, 4x4, very comfortable. Diesel option in a Sport or Limited and towing package at only $1000. Colors are nice. The patriot blue and salsa red pearl coat looks great on chrome accents and sport rims.

Bought the Liberty Limited for my wife. What a solid, well built vehicle this is! One look underneath at the suspension will tell you that this vehicle is built to last. Nothing cheap about the interior either. Leather seats are so so soft but very supportive. The build quality just oozes every where you look inside. And thirsty gasoline V6? Not on this one. If you drive it like you wish to keep it for a long time as we do, youll see 24-25mpg easily on the highway and 18-19 in the city. Those numbers aint bad on a 4000 lb plus vehicle. The ride thats supposed to be not quite up with the rest? Thats a bunch of nonsense! Test drive one and YOU be the judge.

I use this Jeep both on and off road. Superior to my Forester especially in mud. Gets 23 hwy and 18 city. So far at 20k no problems, ride is good and I can pull a horse trailer with it.

We like our Jeep more every time we drive it. We now have 7,100 miles, and have gotten 21.7 mpg with A/C at 70 mph. We had a recall on the engine computer; at first we got 14 to 16.5 mpg and were concerned, but reprogramming fixed it. The heated seats are great. The tire pressure on the overhead really works, saved us a flat. Everything works great, no problems. Style inside and out is well done. This is a solid, smooth riding, top notch 4X4. Perhaps the best of any car or truck we have ever had. We like the new front end, and the radio controls on the steering wheel, the leather seats, and the power sun roof. Everything exceeds our expectations, even the price was more than fair.

It handles great, and maneuvers like a car. Easy to see all around, even for short people (5.3"). Small turning radius.

I worked for a Jeep dealership & I love the Grand Cherokee. But the Liberty is so much fun to drive. It has that European style handling and driving. I wish it got better gas mileage. Dont like the front end on the 2005s. My 2004 looks robust and demanding me to drive it. And I do.

  • DREAM COME TRUE ,YAHOO! - 2005 Jeep Liberty

Although I just recently purchased my Jeep Liberty Sport I can tell you already this is the vehicle Ive been waiting for. With all the reviews Ive read, nothing compares to getting behind the wheel of this machine and putting it in drive. The amount of power it displays from a standstill for a v6 is comparable to some gas guzzling v8s Ive owned and the handling is worthy to say the least . The interior is very comfortable for a large man (63" 240) and at the same time compact enough for my 9 year old daughter not to feel stuck in the back. Overall I would highly recommend this vehicle to anyone looking for a vehicle to get the juices flowing or to get the kids to school.
