Model Overview:

Sold from 2002-'12, the Jeep Liberty was the successor to one of America's original compact SUVs, the Cherokee (which returned in 2014). True to its tough, capable Jeep lineage, the Liberty has considerable off-road capability, thanks to steep approach and departure angles and exceptional suspension travel and articulation. The Liberty was also rated to tow up to 5,000 pounds, a robust figure for its class. These are qualities not found in most other small utility vehicles from this time period, which saw the rise of crossover SUVs optimized for the suburban lifestyle.

Demerits for the Jeep Liberty include a weak engine lineup, with sluggish acceleration and dismal fuel economy from both the four-cylinder and V6 engines offered over the years (the first generation's briefly optional diesel engine is impressively fuel-efficient, however). Interior quality and comfort are also lacking, and by today's standards, the Liberty's general lack of refinement leaves much to be desired.

Town driving - also road trips of 200 miles one way. All maintenance has been done at the dealership of purchase. Oil changes every 2000 miles. Tires rotated and balanced every 10,000. Garaged. Bathed and waxed regularly.

  • Love My Liberty! - 2007 Jeep Liberty

I bought my Liberty Sept. 07 and have been in love with it ever since. Previously I had a Ford Focus which I disliked and wanted something bigger and better in the snow since I live in PA. It drives great in the snow and on anything you throw its way. Quick on the highway. Approx. 20 mpg which isnt awful but it would be nice if it was better. Im not sure why people complain about the window controls. I had a Mercedes and they were in the same place. I like them there since the driver and passenger can control them. Comfortable driver seat. So much fun to drive. Ill never own anything other than a Jeep.

  • so far, so good - 2005 Jeep Liberty

I have only had my car for a month now. I am pretty happy with it so far. Its a fun car to own and to drive. I was very disappointed to find that the 20 mpg was a dream that I would never reach. I really hated my car in the beginning because of the terrible service of my dealer. I am still trying to get over it and not blame the car. This car is definitely not a car to be driven above 75 mph.

  • Does What It Says - 2003 Jeep Liberty

I live in the mountains and this car has performed well in the past year. Plenty of power when I need it and surprisingly I can brake well with it too. The only issue I had was a leak in the power-stearing fluid hose. It also use a little more storage space. But after a recent insurance revision, the car was rated impecable.

Jeep is very fun to drive, the V6 has enough power to go on and off road, handles great off road.

  • Wow - 2005 Jeep Liberty

Great vehicle. Small enough to handle yet able to haul plenty of stuff. Has some get up and go. Leather interior and many standard features make it a good, comfortable work vehicle, and can go out on the town and give the luxury you deserve.

  • Awsome mid-size suv - 2010 Jeep Liberty
    By -

This is the second Jeep Liberty I have owned. I traded in a 2009 Nissan Altima for this Jeep Liberty. I love how comfortable the Liberty is for a tall person. The Liberty sport comes with all the options you could ever want. The ride is really nice, seats are comfortable. For those people who write bad reviews about the liberty have no clue what they are talking about...... 1. Gas millage is around 18 which is what you expect for an suv. 2. You cant compare a Liberty to a car.....If you want the ride of a car and gas millage of a car BUY A CAR. I wanted something that pull a boat and not be the size of a huge truck. The Liberty is it. I highly recommend the Liberty to anyone

  • Window problems - 2007 Jeep Liberty
    By -

I bought my Jeep with only 17,000 miles on it. The drvers window had problems right away. I have to help it up or it goes crooked. Soon after that the passenger side started doing the same. In the last 3 months both rear windows have broken and fallen into the door. I have them propped up and they are unuseable. I cant believe there has not been a recall on this as there are hundreds if not thousands of complaints.I cant believe that Jeep would put out such a faulty product and do nothing to fix it. I will not buy another one.
