Overview & Reviews
An all-new diesel engine option makes its debut for the 2005 Jeep Liberty. Exterior appearance changes this year include a new front fascia, grille, foglamps, fender flares and body side moldings. Interior upgrades include relocated power window switches, new instrument panel cluster graphics and trim bezels and improved seat comfort. The Renegade model gets a flatter hood, taller grille, off-road foglamps and taillamp guards, as well as functional rock rails and four skid plates. A new six-speed manual transmission replaces last year's five-speed unit.
- Extremely capable off-road, creative interior design, economical diesel engine option, still a Jeep at heart.
- Gas engines are rather thirsty at the pump, not as "carlike" on the street as most of its competitors, less cargo space than some of its competitors.

bad cyclinder heads - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By al - May 26 - 10:40 amAt 14000 miles 3.7L needed new cyclinder heads due to use of regular gas. From 2006 forward Jeep decided you need to use higher grade (more expensive) gas! How could all the geniuses at the Billion Dollar design center not know they designed an engine that needed Hi-Test Gas?

Jeep Liberty Limited Edition - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By Dianna - May 21 - 8:00 amI love my Jeep Liberty Limited Edition. However, it drinks gas faster than I can drink water. If it was not for the high prices of gas and the amount that is used by the Jeep Liberty, this would be the perfect vehicle!

05 Limited 4x4 - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By Smitty1938 - May 2 - 10:10 pmThis Jeep has been a great vehicle. It has been off road in the mountains and in the mud with out any problems. On the highway at 70 mph I am able to obtain 22 mpg. Around town it is about 17.5 mpg. No too bad for a vehicle that weighs almost 5000 lbs. The full time 4 wheel drive is great in the rain.

beware jeep falling apart from day one - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By darlene11 - April 23 - 5:14 pmI purchased this jeep less than a year old. I have had to have the front end replaced three times within 5 years. The air conditioner breaks every single year, had the compressor replaced twice. There have been several recalls on this jeep. One of the recalls was for the windows and was only an extended warrante where you had to pay $100 to have your windows fix when they fell down and stopped working. So here I sit now with a window down and the Jeep dealer is telling me oh your too late for the extended warrante if you want your windows fixed it will be $400 a window. Well you know what I think? I think Chrysler is a junk company and should have stepped up from the beginning and fixed then

Overpriced Vehicle - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By Mel Kessler - April 17 - 11:33 pmFor what you get, the vehicle is overpriced. No problems of any kind, using this vehicle off road not the best idea.

Drinks but it Drives - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By N Anderson - April 14 - 11:46 amJust recently bought a limited AWD floor-room model Liberty with chrome exterior package. I would recommend the chrome exterior/interior package as it gives the Liberty a more aggressive and athletic stance and separates yours from everyone elses. Plenty of great safety features and enough places to grab onto if you need an extra boost into the Jeep. Traded in a 2001 Ford Focus for the Liberty and amazingly the insurance costs remained the same. The 3.7L engine has very little lag, but dont expect 220 horsepower to be a comet either as the Liberty is no lightweight. Great extras I recommend are the sunroof, satellite radio, Infiniti speakers, leather seats, and rear view mirror with HomeLink

Love it - 2005 Jeep Liberty
By jane - April 3 - 3:16 amWell, Ive only had it for a couple of days now, but so far, its awesome! First day of ownership, it snowed pretty good where I live and it handled great in the snow and ice. Its extremely comfortable with way more room inside then I expected from a Mid- sized SUV. My kids who are teenagers now have plenty of legroom in the back and the rear cargo space holds all that I need. We already own a Jeep Wrangler (1995) which has been more reliable then any vehicle weve ever owned and because of that, we chose the Liberty over the Sorento, Escape and Santa Fe when we test drove all of them. Very happy and Im sure other potential buyers will be as well. Its fun...youll love it!!!
