This Year's Model Updates:

All 2004 Jeep Libertys now feature a passenger-side grab handle and a power accessory delay feature, while Renegade models get additional rock rail protection and black accent body side moldings. New options include UConnect, Chrysler's hands-free in-vehicle communication system, a tire-pressure monitoring system and a cargo organizer. Safety is enhanced thanks to a system that unlocks doors, illuminates interior courtesy lights and shuts off the fuel pump after airbag deployment. A new trim -- the Jeep Liberty Columbia Edition -- has been introduced, offering 16-inch graphite-painted aluminum wheels; graphite-painted fascias and body moldings; body-colored fender flares; a sun roof; fog lamps; and Columbia badging.

Pros:
  • Extremely capable off-road, creative interior design, still a Jeep at heart.
Cons:
  • Thirsty at the gas pump, not as "carlike" on the street as most of its competitors.

Ive had this jeep for 2 months now and Im very happy with it! I traded a Montero Sport that was decked out and I really like this Jeep a bunch. The interior is tight and well designed. I like the curved hood too! I recommend it to all~!

Bought mine new - Limited interior with the Sport exterior. Other than the transmission bogging down between 40-60 mph, its been a pleasure to own & drive. Love it, love it love it & border collies look killer in it.

The appearance of this new design fits very well with the intended use. It is designed to be a very addequate off road vehicle and in my opinion it does this real well. The ride is not as good as a car but very good for this type of vehicle. Handling is very good overall. The control panel is easy to visualy figure out and use. The 4wd function is well suited to most off road uses and easy to use.

A very good vehicle in the winter. Handles very well. I dont like that the warranty is only 3 years or 36,000 miles. So if you want an extended warranty if your keeping the vehicle longer an extended warranty costs 1500 dollars. GM has 5 years or 60,000 miles on theres warranty which ever comes first but I realy think Crysler as well as Jeep has better vehicles than GM.

My first Jeep. Ive owned other 4X4s. I need one for winter driving in Alaska. My new Liberty five speed with a V6 is perky and fun to drive. It pulls a little to the right, which I dont understand why. I took it to the dealer and they said it was an alignment problem. I got it back, and it still pulls to the right! So... another trip to the mechanic needs to be scheduled. That is a real time waster for me, but Ill get to that before too long. Hopefully they will get it straightened out! Other than that, it handles great, especially on the winter roads in Alaska!

the jeep liberty is very nice but has a few flaws. these include small trunk space, and the fuel economy is not the greatest.

I have owned hondas and toyotas since I was driving. I always wanted a Jeep, but was afraid of american made vehicles. I have had my jeep for 18 months and the rotors had to be replaced at 15,000 miles. My jeep has 30,000 miles on it now and guess what? I need to have the rotors redone again...that is my biggest complaint. I do alot of highway driving but the car is so damn heavy it kills the rotors to stop the vehicle. I love it in the snow...living in new england this car rules. I love my Jeep but its making me poor with the fuel prices. :o)

Ive had my old car (1987 VW Vanagon) for 17 years. When it became apparent that I needed a new one, I wanted to research it thoroughly since it will be another 17 yrs. before my next new one. I read over 200 reviews from other Liberty owners, Edmunds, Consumer Reports, etc. I bought my Liberty 2 weeks ago and so far am very satisfied! I know the gas mileage isnt that great but it gets a little better than my old car and has much more power! And who cares that the glove compartment is so small...we would just fill it with junk we dont need anyway!

  • Extremely off-road capable - 2004 Jeep Liberty

Bought this Jeep brand new in 2004 & has never been in the repair shop once until July 2008, for routine maintenance. When I bought new I had the dealer install the skid plate group, tow hooks & rock rails. I have taken this Jeep off-road many times & its quite impressive, I believe its more rugged than most people realize. I should know because I have previously owned a 1946 CJ2-A & also a 1972 CJ-6. I do most of my 4 wheeling in Michigan & I was honestly surprised at some of the muddy situations I was able to get out of. One thing Ive noticed as a 43 year old male over the last 4 years, this car is very popular with the woman. In fact my wife loves this car because its reliable & small
