This Year's Model Updates:

All 2004 Jeep Libertys now feature a passenger-side grab handle and a power accessory delay feature, while Renegade models get additional rock rail protection and black accent body side moldings. New options include UConnect, Chrysler's hands-free in-vehicle communication system, a tire-pressure monitoring system and a cargo organizer. Safety is enhanced thanks to a system that unlocks doors, illuminates interior courtesy lights and shuts off the fuel pump after airbag deployment. A new trim -- the Jeep Liberty Columbia Edition -- has been introduced, offering 16-inch graphite-painted aluminum wheels; graphite-painted fascias and body moldings; body-colored fender flares; a sun roof; fog lamps; and Columbia badging.

Pros:
  • Extremely capable off-road, creative interior design, still a Jeep at heart.
Cons:
  • Thirsty at the gas pump, not as "carlike" on the street as most of its competitors.

Driven Jeep YJs for 15 years and this is a nice change. Had to lift the front end 1.5 inches to make it level though. Much better looking and visability now.

Wonderful car, fabulous on the highway or in the city, good engine noise down low, and a great throaty roar up top. Short wheelbase makes parking a breeze but sacrifices ride comfort and interior space. 5 people is a squeeze unless one or more is a small child. fun to drive in the city, corners well when not driving extremely aggressively, perfect for whipping around backstreets. However, when you really push it it does feel like it will roll, which is a sacrifice made to provide ground clearance for off roading. Speaking of off roading, this thing can handle anything a sensible person can throw at it. Indiana snow is no match for the 4-wheel drive, weather in low or high settings.

Ive only had mine since March 2004. There are some features that take some getting use too. One is that the window controls are in the center not on the door. Two- the headlight stay on for a few minutes after you turn them off. The first couple of times I thought I left my lights on. The front of my vehicle got hit by a tailgate of a truck the front grill just cracked and one of the headlight broke. There are many good points. It has quit of bit of pick up.It is generally fun to drive

Just picked up the jeep. Rides pretty well, but ofcourse it is a jeep. Dealership did a great deal on jeep. I was considering a Kia Sorento. What the hell was I thinking? Jeep has a better name and better reliability.

  • Driving for the fun of it - 2004 Jeep Liberty

I have enjoyed driving my 2004 Jeep Liberty more than any automobile I have owned. It handles well and has just the right power with the 3.7. The only thing is fuel consumption. Not very good on mileage city or highway.

I purchased a Jeep Liberty Sport in 2002 for travel in the snow. It has shown me that not only does it handle well in snow, but in rain, sun, hard ground, and other situations as well. I never have to worry about where Im going or if I break down...its never happened. It feels great to drive and is very easy to handle. The cargo space is every womans dream and the rear door made for easy access to it. The only sown side to the viechle is that when the rear windows are open it causes a loud wind tunnel sound that occ. hurts your ears...but the A/C helps. I have truly enjoyed my experience with it and plan to buy again in the future!

  • Great but needs a bigger engine - 2004 Jeep Liberty

I really like my Jeep Renegade; its light bar, special roof top carrier, fender flares, and large wheels make it stand out from other SUVs. Its an excellent off-road vehicle and had been able to handle mud, snow, rain, high winds, and scorching heat with no complaints. The paint has not chippied or faded, the body is still tight with no rattles, fit and finish are really good and the interior has no visible signs of wear.

I enjoy being higher off the ground. Very fun & comfortable to drive. I live in an area with poor road conditions. so its less bumpy. Costs a lot in gas. Love the V6 -- great for the highway. Helped a lot when I was moving.
