  • So far so good. - 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Bought from Used Dealer at 79k in 1999, New England vehicle, now has 172K- Replaced Alternator, Ball Joints, CatConverter, Radiator, and the typical cracked exhaust manifold(actually, had the old one welded and braced better than original design). Overall this pig has been pretty good to me - It will be replaced by a 1999-2002 shortly....

  • Just turned 15 yrs old and 200,000 miles! - 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee

My parents bought it new in December 1994 and it just passed the 200k mark! It has been far more reliable than anything else weve ever owned. My mom drove it for nine years, then my dad for the next four years after that. They gave it to me over two years ago to use a second vehicle. Still runs and drives like a champ!

  • Poor Reliability - 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee

We were very happy when we bought the car. It was 3 years old and had only 43,000 miles. It now has 90,000 miles and sitting in our driveway because we dont want to spend the money to fix the myriad of problems with it. We have had the air conditioner fixed multiple times and it isnt working again. The front end is shot, it has a cracked manifold and has a leaking head gasket. It would cost more to fix than its "blue book" value. Theres just too much wrong for a car with only 90,000 miles on it.

  • 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0 - 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Purchased used with 60K+. Mileage now is 106k. It seemed after the 100k. it was one thing after another. However most was minor. The one major problem that I had was violent shaking and bouncing and the worst part was when I took it in, the problem could not be replicated. Finally a local mechanic put an off road steering dampener on! Problem solved. Before this the dealership replaced; stock steering dampener, front shocks and a motor mount. So if your having that shimmy SHAKE SHAKE... off road steering dampener.

  • Great winter and long trip car - 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Loved my Jeep Grand Cherokee. Took comfortable long trips in it. Mileage really increased on the highway.

  • Cant go anyother way - 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I Love my zj, got the 318 v8 in it and man that motor is solid and fast with the quadra trac transfer case. Gotten stuck once in it but easy to pull out. Has 175,263 miles on it and still running strong and tranny shifts smooth. Gas mileage is alright for a vehicle that is 15 years old. about 15 in city and 22 on highway give or take. Would drive it anywhere and Chrysler can build a great vehicle.

  • Only in a Jeep - 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Bought mine private party back in 2002 with 99,600 miles on it. I just hit 136k. With the exception of things I consider basic maintenance (fluid changes, new tires, new shocks), Ive had next to nothing go wrong with my Jeep. Its fun to drive in bad weather, and has yet to let me down. For a 10 year old Jeep, she does what is expected, gets me where I need to go no matter what the weather. As for fuel economy, its an SUV that is 10+ years old, I accept that.

  • Dont buy one - 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee

118,000 miles and Im on my second transmission and it now needs to be rebulit. I have the full time 4X4 and its a gas hog. 16 mpg on the highway. Ive heard from others with Grand Cherokees and they also have put transmissions in within the 100,000 mile range. 99% of my driving is highway and no offroading so you cant blame the driver for a crappy trans. Stay away from Jeep. Buy foreign. It may cost more up front but will last longer.

  • Solid on and off road - 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Purchased from dealer with 49,000 miles. Command-trac works very well off-road. This thing will traverse logging camp paths that look impossible. Very little mechanical problems - cat converter and exhaust manifold. An honest vehicle - does just what it was designed to do very well. I have 87,000 miles and plan to keep it for at least 3-4 more years.

  • Creaks but runs forever - 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Bought it 7 years ago for 7 grand. Since then the only non maintenance repair was a starter motor. Its towed our travel trailer all over BC and never let us down. It leaks oil and creaks and groans but it never quits and has real character.
