For 2004, the Grand Cherokee gets a factory-installed DVD navigation system integrated into the radio. Columbia, Freedom and Special Edition trims are also new for 2004. All of these models incorporate subtle cosmetic touches and equipment upgrades. Additionally, each Columbia Edition Jeep comes with a complimentary Columbia parka.

Pros:
  • Powerful 4.7-liter V8, all-terrain capability, roomy comfort for four.
Cons:
  • Noisy and unrefined, questionable reliability, trucklike on-road handling.

  • Door harness quality!!! - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Door harness done three times. Once @ 35,000 miles (warranty), at 70,000 miles ( They covered it although I didnt have a extended warranty ) and again at 117,000. I had to pay for this one at $780. Had ten problems resolved under the warranty within 36000 miles, including replacement of alumium wheels, rear seals as mentioned in various reviews and tape deck. Went through three sets of Goodyear original equipment tires in 75,000 miles, despite having the alienment done every 6000 miles. I love the car for the ride but the cost of maintaining leaves much to be desired.

Overall truck is good, great deal when bought with all the rebates. However truck needs more power if you have the V6, but if you get the V8 you pay for it in gas!

  • Got What I Paid For - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I purchased my 2003 Jeep Cherokee Laredo on Feburary 14, 2003. Fell in love with the comfort and the space that it gave me. The only one shocker was the gas mileage. Being a student that doesnt live on campus will make your wallet shrink! Other than that, I love my new Jeep and cannot wait until it gets warm enough to try it out on the beach!

Overall, we like our Grand Cherokee. The car has a nice, though soft ride. It is great in the snow and is well built. Our only complaints we have are the gas mileage which averages around 11 around town. Most of the driving is around town with trip of approximately 3 - 5 miles. On a trip, we get approximately 21 babying the car. The heating and air conditioning are both excellent. It is a nice vehicle and we are pleased with it, though we will probably try another vehicle when the lease expires.

  • My 3rd Jeep Grand Cherokee - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

This is my 3rd Jeep Grand Cherokee and the first two passed the 200k mile mark without any major issues. I drive a lot and drive pretty hard (NE winters/construction sites). This one (04 GC Overland) is about to hit 100k miles and I replaced brakes and tires at 70k miles and a water pump at 80k. Other than an oil change (including gear and trans fluid/filter) and alignment at around 75k, it has never been back to the dealer for anything (I change my oil and filter every 6k miles). The only minor annoyances include the drivers door armrest is cracked and pinches my elbow (same thing happened to my 2002 GC Laredo) and it is a bit louder than I would like at highway speeds (70- 75mph). I will surely consider a 4th!

  • Top of SUVs for its class - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Drove sedans for 8 years, then bought my Jeep. A great upgrade. Fuel not great, but extremely comfortable on road trips. Handles great, comfortable steering, standard options were the selling point. Suspension is awesome. Four-wheel drives works great in the mountains on muddy roads as well as snow covered roads. All in all, went in with high expectations, and I was not at all dissappointed. Definitely will strongly consider buying again

  • 2004 Spec Ed. 4X4 - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

This is my 2nd Grand Cherokee Spec Ed. I traded it in with 13k miles (trade in was $20k even if I didnt want to purchase a new one - I only paid $25k for it) After driving my new 4X4 Spec. Ed, I love it! Ive had a few off road drives thus far without problems. The quadra trak II works well.
