  • Noisy and unrefined, questionable reliability, trucklike on-road handling.

Ok we have had this thing for a few years now, thought that the 4.0 and the hard to find 2wd "Select Track" would give us some ok returns in MPG....yea....NOT. Some are saying they are getting decent milage but we get 15mpg NO MATTER WHAT! My Charger R/T is turning about 400 HP at the crank right now and I get 25mpg with THAT! What the HECK! Ive tried EVERYTHING and I work on cars quite regularly including major repairs so Im no slouch on a vehicle. The window cables are junk too, replaced 2 of them. Otherwise its not a bad suv, its just GUTTLESS as a dead horse. Dont expect the 4.0 to have the power to get out of its own way. V8 is the ONLY way to go, gets better MPG in these too....

I have put 2500 miles on a new GC and no problems, I traded a 99 GJC Laredo for this one. The 04 has the H.O. V8 it is great for passing. I like the 6500# tow rating. The GC is just the right size for what I use a vechile for. Im using high test gas in this one even thought the factory says engine will run okay with 87 octane. My is inferno red.

The SUV is not safe in windy conditions above 10 miles. When driving in the wind the car feels like it is going to tip over. The South Carolina, Sumter dealer is rude and unreliable. Services thier are done to save company time. Items that dont need to be fixed get fixed and items that need repair are done poorly so the customer has to come back. Which leads to money coming out of the customers pocket. Repairs on warranty afer 30,00 miles has ahundred dollar deductiable. I do not recommed this car to anyone. Money can be spent better on other vehicles.

This is more of a short story than a review, but I was dead set on buying a Land Rover when I got a Jeep as a rental on a business trip. I drove the rental through Houston and for an hour outside of town on country roads and almost cried when it came time to turn it in. My husband and I both had Hondas that needed replacing and after test driving the Jeep he decided he had to have one too. Actually, my husband did have an older Cherokee in college and never had a single complaint about that car (unlike the 2 Hondas we had). Anyway, weve just been driving these new Jeeps for a week now, but its hard to get out of the car, we love driving them so much.

  • What do you expect? - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I drive a 2004 Grand Cherokee 4.7 HO, 200k+ miles and going strong. I will keep this Jeep through 500k+ miles. When I was looking for a capable off-road with luxury comforts I found the WJ Jeep was best of the best. You will spend money on this vehicle, especially if you take it 150k+ miles but so what? You can find one used for $5,000. I typically spend 3-4,000 a year on my jeep but that is including lifting it 4", new tires and wheels and I use the 4x4 for fun on trails. That averages out to $300/mo. Not bad for vehicle that gets compliments every week and has rescued its fair share of other off roaders who lacked the power or traction to keep up with my Jeep. I love this Jeep.

  • Extended Warrenty Was a Waste of Money - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I bought my 04 G.C. in 07 with about 63k on it. I now have just over 100k on it and havent had a problem that I would consider to be beyond routine maintenance. Dont let all these people scare you talking about the window regulators going bad, it is a problem but not a big deal. I had 1 go it cost me $90 and put it in myself in 30 min. What do you want- stuff will go bad on any car. The 6 cyl. is a bit sluggish when pulling a trailer but I doubt any other 6 cylinder in the same class could fair much better with 3000 lbs. behind it. You look at 90% of the complaints on here and there just a bunch of people that expect a vehicle to never have a problem. I would recommend a jeep to anyone.

  • I Love My Jeep! - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I am proud to say that my 2004 Special Edition Jeep, is the 4th Jeep that I have owned. They are reliable, dependable and safe to drive. In 2001 a deer ran in front of me as I was driving 60 miles an hour. If I wasnt driving a Jeep, I think it may have killed me. My Jeep had a lot of front end damage, but my passenger and I walked away fine. My only complaint is the gas mileage.

Just purchased 04 JGC Laredo after putting on a whopping 325K (yes you read right!)on my 98 GC(original motor and trani...).I searched for a while to find the 6cyl with lower miles.Anyone who claims that these vehicles are not reliable,Id strongly argue. My 98 went through regular maintenence and never left me stranded on the road(i travel in upstate NY,and New England as a sales rep.).Of note. I kept the trani. serviced very regularly as i found that to be real helpful with the overall performance. My 04s ride feels a bit smoother, and more refined than 98, and definately felt better than 05-06 model.Looking forward to putting another 300k on this one!
