  • great car! - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I bought this jeep new and it was the third Grand Cherokee Ive bought. This one has been the best of the three (not that I had much trouble with the first two). No major mechanical problems. Gas mileage in the city is 17 and on the highway 21-23. Goes great in the snow. Original tires (goodyear) were terrible, only lasted 23000 miles just like on the first 2 jeeps I had. but the tires I have bought since all lasted the warranty amount(various brands). Great SUV!

  • Awesome Power, Overall Great Vehicle! - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I have had my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4WD for about a year now and I absolutely love it. The interior is styled great and has all the features that I want in a vehicle, and as for the 4.7L V8 engine, absolutely great. This vehicle has tremendous power and excellent throttle response. The only thing I do not like is the 4WD. It doesnt go into 4WD the way I would like it to. For this to be a SUV, it really doesnt drive like one. It is a very stable vehicle in the curves and also seems to stop really well for its size. Overall I cant tell you all the good luck that I have had with my Jeep. This is the vehicle I have been wanting for a while now and I have finally got it. A+.

  • On last leg - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

We bought ours in 2001 October. It stopped on us a year after we purchased it. It just stopped in the middle of the road but they fixed it. The maintenance cost started to get high in 2012, 2013 and so will be in 2014, with expected repair cost of 5000. We have 135K miles now and it still looks great inside and out but maintenance cost is going up. We are seriously thinking not to do any more repairs and just let it fall apart. What do you think?

  • Never Again - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This JGCL was my first ever American car and i assure you all it will be my last. My first inspection a rear shock was bad. A year into my lease brakes and a fuel sensor went. 18 months into my lease transmission slipped. After four visits to the dealer and being rebuilt twice its still giving me problems. Do not buy this car. Thank God I leased it!

I bought this vehicle for my college age son who drove it to school. The transmission went out at 75K miles Recently, he has had problems with the starter (intermittent starting problems). I was hesitant to buy a Chrysler product due to known quality and reliabilty issues but decided to take a chance on Jeep because he liked it. Never again! Once everything is corrected, I will sell the vehicle and buy a Honda.

  • Looks arent Everything - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

correct me if Im wrong, but a new trans before 80k is NOT OKAY and this seems to be a common trait among jeeps. I bought mine at 60k. I got sucked in by the super comfy interior, stylish exterior and the price range. It felt luxurious to me at the time and I went for it despite problem jeeps Id heard about. And guess, what they are all true. Lately it seems one thing after another so I am selling it now because Im sick of pouring $ into it and having more things happen. I think a good car should easily go 160k with proper maintenance. Hopefully my next will be more sufficient.

  • I Love This Truck - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I bought this truck in May at 73,000 and now it has 80,000 6 months later. I have not had any problems with it. The fuel economy on my 4.7 V8 is 13.5 - 14 city and 18 - 22 highway. There are a lot of V6s that do not get that.

  • Most bang for BUCK! - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I spent countless hours researching to find what I thought would be my best bet in the SUV market. I was a little bit concerned about the Jeeps reliability based on some write-ups I had viewed. Well let me tell you, when preventive maintenance i.e. oil change, rotate tires etc. is kept up, the Jeep will be there when it counts. I will tell anyone, before you buy, give a Jeep a try. It will be the best move youve ever made regarding a vehicle purchase.

  • Just Powerful! - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This is my fourth grand cherokee, I had a 93 limited V8,96 Limited V8, and 99 Limited V8. This is by far the fastest and most powerful. The engine just roars when you hit the gas. I have given many young kids a run for their money in my truck. After my jeep leaves them in the dust they come up to me and ask whats under the hood. I love the overall look of the truck. I added 17 chrome rims and a moldeld plastic brush guard for a cooler look. Only complaint is starter failed after 30,000 miles and spark plugs had to be changed.

  • Jeep is a heap of junk - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

After buying our jeep grand cheerokee for the great looks and good comfort, we soon found out that it was the biggest piece of junk weve ever owned. for the money that ive poured into that thing, i could have a hefty down payment on a bently. This car has been nothing but trouble since the day we drove it off the lot. Our jeep dealership has not been helpful AT ALL (quite nasty actually). Needless to say, we are trading in that horibble hunk of metal.
