For 2004, the Grand Cherokee gets a factory-installed DVD navigation system integrated into the radio. Columbia, Freedom and Special Edition trims are also new for 2004. All of these models incorporate subtle cosmetic touches and equipment upgrades. Additionally, each Columbia Edition Jeep comes with a complimentary Columbia parka.

Pros:
  • Powerful 4.7-liter V8, all-terrain capability, roomy comfort for four.
Cons:
  • Noisy and unrefined, questionable reliability, trucklike on-road handling.

  • Very Good Truck for your Buck - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Weve had our Jeep Grand Cherokee for about 2 weeks. It has a wonderful, spacious interior for passengers and cargo, with a decent fit and finish. The truck gets good gas mileage...for an SUV. Otherwise, the gas mileage isnt as impressive. The engine is so reliable, my friend who used to work at a Ford dealer with me called it bullet- proof. I may not of had it long, but friends and family have some, and they love theirs. Better than a Toyota Highlander or Honda Pilot, because the way I see it, theyd rust out before Ive gotten my moneys worth!! Not to mention, their reliability IS NOTHING SPECIAL, MAYBE EVEN BELOW AVERAGE.

ALREADY HAD A 99 GC BASE LAREDO ON A 3 YR LEASE---REAL FUN TO DRIVE--TOOK A LITTLE CHANGE W/ THE CHRSYLER MINI V-- BUT COULDNT WAIT TO GET BACK INTO AN SUV. THE 04 MODELS WERE BEING DISCOUNTED--EVEN THOUGH STILL HAD 1 MORE YEAR LEFT--JEEP DEALER BOUGHT OUT THE MV LEASE, AND THE GC MIDNIGHT BLUE EDITION JUST WON ME OVER--AGAIN-- THOUGHT ABOUT OTHER SUVS--BUT THIS IS ONE SHARP VEHICLE--MUCH NICER EXTERIOR WITH THE COLOR BUMPER MATCH THAN THE BASE LAREDO-SIMILAR TO THE LIMITED STYLE

I have put 2500 miles on a new GC and no problems, I traded a 99 GJC Laredo for this one. The 04 has the H.O. V8 it is great for passing. I like the 6500# tow rating. The GC is just the right size for what I use a vechile for. Im using high test gas in this one even thought the factory says engine will run okay with 87 octane. My is inferno red.

  • Dont Buy One, Buy Two - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This is more of a short story than a review, but I was dead set on buying a Land Rover when I got a Jeep as a rental on a business trip. I drove the rental through Houston and for an hour outside of town on country roads and almost cried when it came time to turn it in. My husband and I both had Hondas that needed replacing and after test driving the Jeep he decided he had to have one too. Actually, my husband did have an older Cherokee in college and never had a single complaint about that car (unlike the 2 Hondas we had). Anyway, weve just been driving these new Jeeps for a week now, but its hard to get out of the car, we love driving them so much.

  • Completely Satisfied With Purchase! - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I had been looking for a new car to replace my 97 Blazer for about 3 months and couldnt find the right mix of amenities I wanted at the price I wanted to pay. On a friends advice I went to the Jeep dealer to check out the Grand Cherokee. I had seen them on the road but didnt like the grey side body moldings on Laredo and didnt want to spend up the extra for a Limited just for exterior aesthetics and get a bunch of options I didnt want. The 2004 SE was everyth I was looking for in a new car. Great ca...looking foward to the first snow storm this winter...what more can I say!

I like the way it handles on and off road, and the easy in which my wife can go to 4 wheel drive with little effort.

  • I love my Jeep - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This is the first Jeep Ive ever owned. For years I drove a Camaro convertible and never thought I could find another vehicle that would replace the love I had for my Camaro. But I found the replacement. I now drive a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Special Edition. Its color is black crystal. I love this car! Sporty styling with a spacious luxury interior. Who could ask (or want) more??

  • IM LOVIN MY JEEP 4 X 4 - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I bought a 2004 leftover and I love it. I feel very safe. Doesnt ride like a truck, very comfortable. Some SUVs feel like youre riding a bucking bull. The gas mileage is better than I expected. Not being all wheel drive certainly helps offset gas expense. The stereo and interior layouts are fair at bes -- it seems like there is wasted space around the dashboard and gear shift. The upgraded stereo system is worth it. If you want very reliable transportation (in all weather conditions) at a fair price (not mention the Jeep holds its value) -- then Id highly recommend this vehicle. Like I said, I love mine!!!!
