For 2004, the Grand Cherokee gets a factory-installed DVD navigation system integrated into the radio. Columbia, Freedom and Special Edition trims are also new for 2004. All of these models incorporate subtle cosmetic touches and equipment upgrades. Additionally, each Columbia Edition Jeep comes with a complimentary Columbia parka.

  • Powerful 4.7-liter V8, all-terrain capability, roomy comfort for four.
Cons:
  • Noisy and unrefined, questionable reliability, trucklike on-road handling.

love the size and get up, but a hemi would be just right. The front windows suck water off windshield constantly annoying b/c true jeepers role with windows down, and in Washington state thats a real issue. Try the wind tunnel with water next time. -WJ FARLEY-

  • Beware of heated seats, WILL CATCH FIRE! - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

This is my fourth Jeep vehicle and I have been so happy with the first three but this one has left me disappointed. The heated seat caught fire and burned a hole in the seat and I am still waiting on Chrysler to fix it. Having a huge burn hole in the seat of an expensive vehicle I just bought is something that is VERY disturbing to me and makes me not want to even be in it. Also, I just have noticed cheapness in the interior. It is fun to drive and the Quadra Drive 4-Wheel Drive system is nice. I have the navigation system and it has been useful. Steering in this one doesnt feel as tight as my it did in my 99. This may be my last domestic SUV for awhile. I may give the Murano a try.

  • Very nice vehicle - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This has been a very nice vehicle so far. We have put 1300 miles on it in the month that we have owned it. Have averaged 17.8 mpg with the V8 in a mix of city and highway driving. Biggest complaint so far comes from a fat kid that put a door ding in it on the third day of ownership. The dealership we purchased the vehicle from was very pleasant to deal with, especially after being lied to by a Mitsubishi dealer. The Jeep handles well on the open highway and has a tight turning radius for the parking lots. Ample power and torque from the V8. Quiet at highways speeds. 5 speed transmission always seems to be in the right gear for the situation.

  • Beautiful, powerful, but frequently in the shop - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Until the 2011 Grand Cherokee was released I thought the 2004 was the best looking year of the best looking bodystyle. Has robust suspension and agressive approach and departure angles for offroading (though most are just daily commuters). Interior on the Overland was very nice and had unique styling. Nice engine/exhaust note, felt more powerful and faster than its 265 bhp rating. Good towing ability: 5000 lbs hardly noticable.

  • My First Jeep - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I considered other SUVS before buying the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. And I was very close to buying the 2004 Ford Explorer. I had owned a 2000 Ford Expedition with which I was extremely pleased. So, I was assuming the Explorer would give me the same satsifaction. But a souring experience with the Ford dealer brought me to the Jeep dealership. Im extremely happy that i did. The vehicle, outside of its rough on-road ride, is just marvelous. Ive been geting about 18 MPG so far. It has all the features I wanted in a vehicle. I especially like the small cargo carrying capability and the flexibility of having a nice car to take to important functions.

my third GRC far suprior to all others. 2300 miles so far & no problems of any kind. note i am very critical & would consider a 1/16" difference in body pannel fitment a problem to be fixed

    OVER ALL EXCELLANT VEHICLE

  • electrical issues - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

This jeep is great when it comes to driving in the snow. Its not bad around town, it looks great in dark grey. I have had some issues with the electrical system though. The pass. side taillight keeps going out and none of the windows go up or down. I feel they could have done a better job on the electrical system.

  • Runs GREAT - Gas HOG! - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Beautiful truck! Fun to drive - but terrible on gas mileage. CD player needs to be moved to the front of the vehicle. Not a good place in the back. Also - bad quality CD player...makes CDs skip often - when no scratches on cds.
