For 2004, the Grand Cherokee gets a factory-installed DVD navigation system integrated into the radio. Columbia, Freedom and Special Edition trims are also new for 2004. All of these models incorporate subtle cosmetic touches and equipment upgrades. Additionally, each Columbia Edition Jeep comes with a complimentary Columbia parka.

Pros:
  • Powerful 4.7-liter V8, all-terrain capability, roomy comfort for four.
Cons:
  • Noisy and unrefined, questionable reliability, trucklike on-road handling.

  • Tough and Luxurious - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This is the fifth Jeep I have owned and my most favorite. This is the perfect sized SUV. I like this Jeep much better than the 2005 and newer models. The new models have horrible interior materials unlike the 99-04 and the biggest faux pas is that they no longer have that indescribable "Jeep" ride and feel. The 99-04 models have ergonomics that are perfect. Every related function grouped together. All light functions are on the stalk, unlike Toyota for example. Same goes for both front and rear wiper controls; 1 stalk. The heat and air controls are a model of simplicity. 3 round knobs that operate with precision. The best feature is the design and comfort of the leather heated seats

  • Fun to Drive - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I have had my 2004 GC Loreado for a year and have 16,000 miles. It such a joy to drive, every trip is an adventure. The I6 engine has such great torque it always seems happy to respond. I have always been a driving enthusist, but the Jeep has me thinking up places to go just to drive it. Reliability has been outstanding, I wish I had bought one years ago.

My second Jeep, very predictable, reliable, handles very well on snow and ice, V6 a bit sluggish would opt for V8.

  • Happy with JEEP - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Former Nissan Altima owner for many years. I decided to finally get an SUV and couldnt resist the look and feel of the Jeep Grand Cherokee (4.7 v8). Jeep has a great smooth ride with excellent handling. I havent taken if off road as of yet but can tell you it handles well both in highway (65 plus mph) and city driving. Interior is very nice compared to others. Some suggestions - larger glove box & change the center console to something a little more user friendly. I was disappointed within the first week I had to replace a faulty chip (car wouldnt drive) but that can happen with any car. I did have to replace the front brakes at 35k but I hear that is standard with Jeep.

this is the first new car I have ever bought for myself and I could not be happier, unless it got better gas mileage. But the good look and the great ride make up for that. I have the Laredo Special Edition so I am spoiled with the leather seats and all the extras... I will definately be a repeat buyer.

  • Great blend of comfort and capability. - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Where I live here in the Colorado mountains, I must have a solid and capable 4x4. The JGC has filled the bill with style. I think that those who criticize the JGC on bumps have not driven a 4x4 with solid floating axles front and rear before. It simply amazes me how responsive and smooth the JGC is considering the tough and proven components that make up the drivetrain and suspension. Mine had a bit of body roll too, but was practically eliminated with the installation of a set of quality tires with stronger sidewalls, in this case, Pirelli Scorpion STRs. The JGC is awesome on snow and ice through twisty mountain roads, and is smooth with good feel on the highway.

  • Only in a Jeep - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

After buying several domestic vehicles and having horrible quality, we were ready to give into a foreign vehicle. I wanted something fun to drive, yet a good size and could fit the family, luggage and myself and something good in the snow. My friends who had a 95 Grand Cherokee said that they loved theirs and that they have had nothing but basic maintenance done on theirs with 162,000 miles on it (still running too!). So with that, we looked into them, found one with the strong, efficient, and long-lasting 4.0 I-6 and bought it. We have had it for 1.5 years and we have almost 36,000 miles of trouble-free driving. Its fun, great size, and gets 17mpg in city and sometimes 22 on the highway. Great SUV!

I am very imperssed with the overall quality of my Grand Cherokee. It is fun to drive and has easy access,(in & out). The features included in my Limited Edition Jeep are all I could ask for or imagine. The V8 is powerful and smooth. All wheel drive gives a very secure feeling. The road noise is just a bit more than a car, but my car could not do what the Jeep can.
