Overview & Reviews
For 2004, the Grand Cherokee gets a factory-installed DVD navigation system integrated into the radio. Columbia, Freedom and Special Edition trims are also new for 2004. All of these models incorporate subtle cosmetic touches and equipment upgrades. Additionally, each Columbia Edition Jeep comes with a complimentary Columbia parka.
- Powerful 4.7-liter V8, all-terrain capability, roomy comfort for four.
- Noisy and unrefined, questionable reliability, trucklike on-road handling.

Highly Satisfied Buyer - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Robert Hager - December 30 - 10:00 amPrevious 3 SUVs were GCLs. Particularly enjoy the feel, confort and the many "bells and whistles" of the Overland especially rain-sensitive wipers and tire pressure monitor. Appreciate pleasing interior design. Would highly recommend to my friends.

Rough, Rough Idle - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Paul - November 29 - 11:53 pmThis will be my 4th Jeep and last. Purchased new and ran great for first 10,000 miles. Started to have rough idle problem when in drive. Had 4 different dealers work on it with no luck. They just say V8s idle rough in this vehicle because idle RPM is set too low for lower emissions. Cant change computer settings. What bull! If buying this vehicle used, look for one with at least 15,000 miles. This idle problem does not set in until later. Very smooth running V8 but idle at red lights or traffic a joke. Passengers will ask you whats wrong with your car? Brakes also need frequent work. Only buy this vehicle with a power driver seat.

Jeep Cherokee Laredo the best - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Roadbeagle - October 8 - 1:30 amBest small SUV on the market - it will actually go off road and climb hills, handles gravel roads great! It is also quite smooth on the interstate. A true SUV for all situations. Only wish the mileage was better, but you pay for a V- 8 motor.

Not Sure - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By swthazeleyez - August 30 - 10:00 amI have owned my Jeep for two weeks today and I must say Im not as impressed with its I6 engines ability to get up and go as I thought I would be. If you are going to purchase this vehicle, I would suggest that you take it for a LONG test drive, 10 miles at least. Im glad I leased it!

A Good All Around Vehicle - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By JFL Live - May 30 - 1:56 pmI bought my 2004 Grand Cherokee used from the local dealer with about 15k miles on it. Having read all the reviews stating different mechanical problems, I test drove at least a dozen Grand Cherokees before I settled on this one. Many of the Jeeps I test drove had a wandering front end, pulsating brakes or transmission noise. Some had too many miles with no warranty left. The one I picked had 2 years and 20k left on the warranty and NO symptoms of any mechanical problems. After 8,000 miles there are still no problems. If you can find a good one like I did, it makes a perfect every day car.

Pleasantly Surprised - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Sluggo - March 26 - 10:00 amHaving owned several SUVs in the past it was a surprise to find the quality and comfort the Grand offers. I spend a lot of time in my Jeep so the A/C, stero, and seats really mean a lot. The best keep secret is you can get a plain Grand with a V-8. It handles well and the fit is excellent. The Daimler crowd has done a nice job of fixing the past problems. I tried it off road and was surprised to find it handled well on dirt. Always owning 4X4s in the past it was hard to keep going, but I went safely into areas I would never try in some of the vehicles Ive owned. Overall it is a good package and offers more than I expected.

Jeep great offroad - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Mark - December 17 - 10:00 amLive in Manitoba Canada. We really have enjoyed this vehicle and use it regularly off road to go to our remote cottage. Factory tires were garbage and replaced with BFG TA KOs. Cant imagine how a vehicle of this caliber & price could be equipped with such lousy tires. Fuel economy acceptable for a V8 SUV. Glad we didnt get a 6 cyl. Quadra-Trac 11 is pretty neat
