Overview & Reviews
Jaguar adds adaptive cruise control to the options list, and a six-speed automatic transmission is now standard on the V6 version -- the five-speed manual remains a no-cost option.
- Elegantly appointed interiors, solid all-around performance, classic British styling, full load of standard safety equipment.
- A few cheap interior bits, high price, fussy J-gate shifter.

Great Mid Sized Sedan - 2004 Jaguar S-Type
By rsalinger - August 30 - 3:10 pmIve owned German cars for the past 20 years. This S-Type has given me 16 months of trouble free ownership. The power is outstanding. I love the DVD nav system, the adjustable pedals, and the great ride. Just a fun car to drive.

A great car - 2004 Jaguar S-Type
By John1403 - May 31 - 10:00 amI have had this car for four months and love it. Performance is wonderful, and, having had a 2000 4.0 S-Type, I have never seen a car so improved. In addition, I love the fact that the car looks fantastic; it does not look fast, yet you can smoke nearly any other car on the road.

Great car for the $. - 2004 Jaguar S-Type
By ranger7 - February 18 - 10:00 amSo far there has been no problems. Acceleration is outstanding and the handling excellent. The DVD nav system is one of the best in any car. It is not as responsive to the road as a M BMW or an AMG Mercedes, however, its ride is not harsh. On long trips (over 4 hours) its a pleasure, no sore back when arriving at your destination. I was considering the new M5 when it come out and the AMG E55, however, with options, the price is about 20k more than the Jag with slight improvement in performance.

Cats R us - 2004 Jaguar S-Type
By Paul d Bowell - February 17 - 2:00 amContrary to a number of professional reviews,I do not find my s-type noisy at high speed and in Europe we drive considerably faster than the USA.The new 4.2 V8 works like a dream and the handling is superb. My only critisism is that there could have been a little more room in the back.

S-type perfect again - 2004 Jaguar S-Type
By don kent - December 28 - 6:46 amTook advantage of marketing support of $7500 and traded perfect 03 S-type 3.0 for the s-type R. No disappointments at all. What power and wonderful seats! Nav/DVD is superb. Would make no changes in the new S-type R except to have synthetic motor oil standard to extend engine life.

The Cat Came Back - 2004 Jaguar S-Type
By Frank Patti - October 24 - 10:00 amI have loved the Jaguar since the mid-1960s when the XKE convertible was first introduced into my auto-awareness. Anyway, tales of over heating and over dependence on mechanics kept me from owning one of these beautiful cars. Then, FORD "purchased" Jaguar, and the folk lore contended that now Jag was just a ford with a hood ornament. Finally, I drove one. OMG What an incredible car this S Type, V8 dream car has become. This is the best car Ive ever ownded. Thank the maker ... Jag got it right. Thanks FORD for investing in this 100% British manufactured dream car. THE CAT CAME BACK ;0)
