The S-Type gets new 10-spoke alloy wheels for 2001, along with exterior color options Onyx White and Roman Bronze. The folks at Jaguar have decided to move the six-disc CD changer from the glovebox to the trunk. ISOFIX is added to the rear for securing child seats and Reverse Park Control now comes standard. An electronically controlled, speed-proportional power steering system is new this year and the software for the Voice Activation Control system has been upgraded. A Deluxe Communications Package featuring a Motorola Timeport digital phone system is a new option.

Lemon or not? - 2001 Jaguar S-Type
By Rkfd - October 10 - 2:00 amElectronically a nightmare!!! EVERYTIME the dealership trys to fix something it causes another problem. Finally, after 3 weeks in the shop, CA flew to IL to figure out the problems. But then there is always more... (Nearly 2 months in the shop in all)

By 01JagSType - December 21 - 3:16 amThe Jaguar S-Type has treated me well the past 5 years I have owned it. However, minor technical problems do come up now and then. Its a good idea to get the extended warranty after end. Acceleration is not on par with MB, but handling is superb. The styling is more appealing than most. Interior quality is excellent, and even better with the 03 Revised models. The 19/24 fuel economy is just average. The car definately is a head turner, but it is quickly silenced with electrical headaches. I do suggest this car as long as it is an 03 or newer model. I plan to try trade it in for jaguars new XK. Overall, this car has met my demands and I can reccomend it.

My First Jaguar - 2001 Jaguar S-Type
By jackson43215 - December 14 - 2:00 amThis car is beautiful, the dealership is great, and the ride and performance is fantastic. It just isnt very reliable and has poor quality. A great ownership experience is spoiled by frequent visits for warranty work. Coolant and oil leaks; seat control problems/replacements; window motor, transmission, dash board and glovebox replacements, trunk leaks and other issues. With only 41,000 miles during my 3 year ownership. Inquiries directly to Jaguar were met with representatives who had no interest and no care about my issues. I have been so dissatisfied with a $50,000 Jaguars quality, but loved my $13,000 Saturn with nearly no quality issues.

Beautiful, But I cant Trust Her - 2001 Jaguar S-Type
By Anthony Gucciardo - January 27 - 10:00 amI have a 2004 E Class and Bought Used S- Type because I always wanted one! They look better then any other car on the road including Mercedes, Audi, Lexus, etc. The first week I had it didnt start cause the car thought it was being stolen. The next week the battery died, and other times there is a clicking noise that cant seem to be corrected. I love this Car, and get excited when I drive it, but its not dependable. The car will not shift out of park when parked on an incline and the engine pings even though I use Octane 93 Fuel. If you get an S-Type get a 03 or Newer!

Ready Set Go!! - 2001 Jaguar S-Type
By 1..2..3.. GO - October 7 - 5:56 amThis car is unbelivable. Ive owned this vehicle for 7 years now and have never given it credit to write a much deserved review. Going on 46,000 miles this car remains in my personal showroom. But when its pulled out on weekends you better believe it delivers. I just cant get rid of it! Always sporty and a pleasure to drive, not quite a thrill as my E500 or Lexus GS 430 but still is a number one contender in the luxury midsize division. For a seven year old car it still turns heads and has always caught the eye of any common bystander in any parking lot.

Very Disappointed - 2001 Jaguar S-Type
By HT - July 22 - 4:03 pmWe had hoped that Jaguar had improved its reliability, but apparently not. We bought our S-type with 36,000 miles, and within two months the transmission went out (Jaguar said it needed to be replaced with a rebuilt for $7K; we had it fixed elsewhere for $3.8K, but still, ouch). The windshield washer pump also failed ($500), a rattle in the dash has cropped up, the AM radio cant hold a station (how hard is it to make an AM radio work?), and there is an intermittent warning light just comes on and off randomly. We love the way this car handles and looks, but cant wait to get rid of it.

I love this CAT - 2001 Jaguar S-Type
By Adam - September 22 - 11:26 pmI recently traded in my 2000 S-Type 4.0 to get an 01 3.0. Boy am I happy I did. The 00 leaked and had many little things break (the drawer in the dash, window regulator). The 01 feels for solid and is much more quiet. Its smooth and so good looking as well as 7 mpg better on gas. I miss the power and the growl from the V8, but I feel much better in this one. The only thing I have a problem with is its inability to not fish tail when taking turns in the rain, no matter the speed I am going. Here in Florida, the roads get slick. I have never had this problem with a Lexus, thats why I am a little shocked. I LOVE this car, I love the style, I love everything. And its cheap to buy used.
