This Year's Model Updates:

The S-Type gets new 10-spoke alloy wheels for 2001, along with exterior color options Onyx White and Roman Bronze. The folks at Jaguar have decided to move the six-disc CD changer from the glovebox to the trunk. ISOFIX is added to the rear for securing child seats and Reverse Park Control now comes standard. An electronically controlled, speed-proportional power steering system is new this year and the software for the Voice Activation Control system has been upgraded. A Deluxe Communications Package featuring a Motorola Timeport digital phone system is a new option.

Pros:
  • Classic styling, serene and stable ride, cool voice-activation technology.
Cons:
  • Too much Ford switchgear, lack of interior storage space, sloppy transmission, high price tag.

very bad at best, jaguar corp. does not care or respond if there problems with your auto. Dealership can only replace parts not fix the problem. Stay away !!!!

This car was purchased after owing 2 Stealths fr0m 91 to 2001.The drive was not quite as nimble as as Stealth, but the ride was smoother by far.I really appreciated the heated seats, all the safety features and the elegance.I never had a problem with it, except for the driver window went off track, but it was fixed in an hour and I was back on the road.I drove the Jag from Detroit to Miami and actually enjoyed it all, even after 10 hrs. on the road, I was thrilled to be cruising thru the Smokies.Great car. I recommend it.

This car is unbelivable. Ive owned this vehicle for 7 years now and have never given it credit to write a much deserved review. Going on 46,000 miles this car remains in my personal showroom. But when its pulled out on weekends you better believe it delivers. I just cant get rid of it! Always sporty and a pleasure to drive, not quite a thrill as my E500 or Lexus GS 430 but still is a number one contender in the luxury midsize division. For a seven year old car it still turns heads and has always caught the eye of any common bystander in any parking lot.

This car is by far the best car I had (and had them all!). Extreme elegance with supreme performance makes it stand far a part with other similar sedans, foreign and domestic.

Bought it used with low mileage...perfect..Now has 66,000 mostly highway miles on it...Total bliss..Its my second Jag..First was 94 XJ6 and was so in love with that one that I didnt trade it til 125k and everything under the hood leaking and car locking itself without ptompting!..SO, this little one had big shoes to fill....It did..In fact, I like its easier handling due to its smaller size, and its highway performance has not suffered..I still get away from those big trucks when I need to and the hooks are great on these Jags...Just had its first repair...back passenger window fell off the track ..I always do the maintenance at the dealership.LUVIT!

  • It is reliable - 2001 Jaguar S-Type

I bought this car new. Had mostly Toyotas, last car was Volvo. This car is a joy to drive. Quiet, smooth, powerful and just a classic beauty. I get 20-23 MPG with a 3.0L. People stop me still to compliment the cars looks. Radio reception is sometimes weak and sunroof has been balky lately. I like this so much better than my wifes Lexus. I would definitely buy another one.

I love this car very much. I got it in 2001 and have had no problems since then. This car is a great on looker. I even had one guy stop me in the gas station to tell me that my Jaguar look like a masterpiece on wheels.

Since the day I picked up my new Jaguar S-Type, I have been completely surprised at its ride comfort, quietness, and the amazing performance for a luxury vehicle. This is my first Jaguar and Im sure that it wont be my last!

  • Very Disappointed - 2001 Jaguar S-Type

We had hoped that Jaguar had improved its reliability, but apparently not. We bought our S-type with 36,000 miles, and within two months the transmission went out (Jaguar said it needed to be replaced with a rebuilt for $7K; we had it fixed elsewhere for $3.8K, but still, ouch). The windshield washer pump also failed ($500), a rattle in the dash has cropped up, the AM radio cant hold a station (how hard is it to make an AM radio work?), and there is an intermittent warning light just comes on and off randomly. We love the way this car handles and looks, but cant wait to get rid of it.
