Overview & Reviews
Nissan launched its upscale Infiniti division in 1989 with two unique models and a polarizing ad campaign. More than two decades later, Infiniti continues to blaze its own trail in pursuit of luxury, performance and style. The Infiniti G37 sport coupe, sedan and convertible are prime examples of this corporate philosophy. Blessed with a split personality, the rear-wheel-drive G37 will deliver you to work in luxury during the week and then clip apexes all weekend without breaking a sweat.
The list of luxury sport coupes and sedans is typically dominated by elite Teutonic nameplates. In readying the G37, Infiniti honed it on test circuits throughout Europe, including Germany's famed Nürburgring. This athletic chassis, along with the G's attractive sticker price, distinctive interior appointments and ample array of technology, makes it well prepared for battle in this class.
Used Infiniti G37 Models
The Infiniti G37 was first introduced as a coupe for 2008, with the convertible arriving the following year. Technically, the G37 sedan arrived for 2009 as well, but it was really the same vehicle as the second-generation G35 sedan that arrived for '07, albeit with a larger 3.7-liter V6. Confused yet? It gets worse. For 2011, Infiniti officially broke these cars apart into separate models, so for information on a new G, please read the Infiniti G Sedan review, Infiniti G Coupe review and Infiniti G Convertible review.
Used Infiniti G37 models are available in coupe, sedan or convertible body styles, with four possible trim levels: base, Journey, G37x and Sport 6MT. The convertible was only offered in base or Sport 6MT trim, though. For 2010, a special range-topping Anniversary model added features that included navigation, an upgraded Bose audio system, iPod connectivity and ventilated seats (for the convertible only).
In addition to the long list of standard features packaged with each trim level, several options, including the Anniversary add-ons were available à la carte. Adaptive cruise control will alleviate some fatigue on long trips, while the available Sport package (standard on the G37 Sport 6MT and optional on the G37 Journey) will rouse the interest of more aggressive drivers thanks to features like a limited-slip differential, a sport-tuned suspension and brakes, sport seats and bigger wheels.
A four-wheel active steer system (4WAS) was available for those obsessed with pushing the technological envelope, but reactions were mixed, with several drivers noting diminished steering feedback in vehicles equipped with 4WAS. It was eliminated after 2009. Stability control, front-seat side airbags and side curtain airbags can be found on all used Infiniti G37s, and a pre-collision preparation feature was optional.
During these years, the G37's 3.7-liter V6 produced a very healthy 330 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque, fed to either the rear wheels or all four (G37x). In base, Journey and G37x trims, the G37 came with a seven-speed automatic transmission featuring paddle shifters, while the Sport 6MT featured a six-speed manual. Both transmissions have their devotees, but the clutch take-up in the manual is a little too abrupt. Acceleration and mileage numbers are comparable between the automatic and manual, so the choice is a matter of personal preference.
A used G37 from these years offered user-friendly controls, excellent build quality and a handsome design -- the latter highlighted by such items as the car's leather-accented magnesium transmission paddle shifters and attractive interior trim. The front seats are comfortable and well-bolstered, and the available sport-styled seats offer even more aggressive bolstering, though they may be a bit too snug for larger drivers. Both the sedan and coupe feel like sports cars wrapped in a luxury car package, but the coupe, with seats that are mounted slightly lower than the sedan's, feels a bit racier. We're less enamored with the convertible, as it's less refined and practical than its competitors from those years.
Overall, the Infiniti G37 stands shoulder to shoulder with all its contemporary rivals in the entry-level luxury segment. Used car consumers in the market for such a vehicle would be wise to put it at the top of their to-drive list.

Excellent build quality and fun to drive - 2009 Infiniti G37
By Carscar - May 12 - 12:26 pmHave it for the last 2 weeks; interior design, comfort and features are outstanding; I switched from a BMW 3 series and will take some time to adjust to the drive; but I think G37 comes close.

A special car I never thought I would own. - 2009 Infiniti G37
By jimstack41 - May 4 - 11:12 amA friend who owns a used car dealership found my 09 G37x S with the 7 speed auto and paddle shifters at a regional auction. Barely 30,000 miles and a one-owner history! Black on black, 4dr. Nav system, Bose stereo, 18" wheels, All the goodies!. I never thought I would be able to afford this. The price was right and I did the mechanical work, four Michelin MXM4 tires and some detail touch ups. The car is perfect. I am out the door and on the road for $28K. Unbelievable! At my age this is the perfect car. A great combination of performance and luxury. It also is incredibly good looking.

Best Luxury sports coupe on the market - 2008 Infiniti G37
By Mestizo - April 21 - 12:43 pmThis car is absolutely a joy to own. Not only does it have a 330 HP engine that is fun to drive but all the features and options this car has is unbelievable. The Bose system in the premium package is one of my favorite things about this car. It is so clear and if you like loud stereos, you can crank it up to really feel the 2 10" subs. Everything from the design, performance, luxury and affordability makes this car a must have for any sort of car enthusiast.

Excellent new design outside and in - 2008 Infiniti G37
By ricogs400 - April 4 - 8:10 pmThe newly redesigned G37 improves in many places over the previous version and Infiniti is taking big steps to get up to the top levels of luxury and performance. The G is solid, well layed out controls and tons of tech gadgets that I still need to learn all of them.

Much improved coupe! - 2008 Infiniti G37
By jbro - March 11 - 10:43 pmI traded in a 2007 G coupe 6MT for a 2008 also 6 MT. The shifter and especially the clutch in the 07 was awful. The 08 is improved although not perfect. Otherwise this car is amazing in every way. Its really a little surprising that Nissan can make this car for this price point. It really looks, feels and drives like a much more expensive car. Really unbelievable!!!! Great job Nissan and your Infiniti cohorts. In my first 1000 miles MPG, hiway is 24-25 and expect to improve a bit with break-in. Only change would be to give just a little more off the line, although I imagine that would stress the components more with 330 horses on tap. Also would be nice to see the rev match shift!!

This thing is serious fun. - 2009 Infiniti G37
By David - February 1 - 3:00 pmI was shopping around for a new car and did extensive research on sedans in the same class. Lexus IS, Audi A4, Acura TL, Benz C Class, etc. After test driving the Infiniti, I was sold. This car has got the most powerful standard engine in its class and it makes it such an amazing machine to drive. 0-60 in a little over 5 seconds. Gotta love it! At the same time, the brakes make stopping feel effortless so that youre confident driving such a strong car. Lastly, the interior is beautiful and classy. I have no regrets in buying this car and Id recommend it to anyone looking for an excellent four-door sports car.

Super sweet car - 2008 Infiniti G37
By Mr spock - January 27 - 8:53 amThis 2008 is so much better than the previous model. After 3 weeks I have to say this car with all options is almost everything I was hoping for. IÂ’ve been driving Mustang GTs for many years so this car is so much more refined and luxurious. The sound system and nav are excellent. High speed (100MPH) on the highway is very well controlled and surprisingly quiet in both road and wind noise. The power band on this engine does not come alive until you get above 3000 RPM. IÂ’m used to lots of V8 torque, and this otherwise excellent engine just does not have that torque. But rev it up beyond 4000 and it will pin you back nicely.

Love the Car--Hate the Cupholders - 2009 Infiniti G37
By Ann - January 5 - 1:03 amI have had my convertible for over a month. I have been waiting for it since Feb. I LOVE everything about it, except the cuphold situation-- or more accurately, the lack of good cupholders. I ordered the manual version and test drove the automatic. Different cupholders! Also, my average gas mileage is about 17.1 mpg. I would love to get the advertised 19-21mpg. Im still learning all the features to the car, but I am totally enjoying the navigation system and phone/iPod connection. Also, the speakers in the headrest is the best. I will say that the Lexus has more trunk space with the top down than the Infiniti. I only have room for an umbrella and a baseball hat in the trunk.

Happy Customer - 2009 Infiniti G37
By HappyCustomer - November 27 - 4:50 amOverall, an excellent choice! This car is FAST! And it has all the features you would ever want. I got the Premium and Navi which are a must have for a lux car. Way better than BMW 3 series and more stylish than the TL. Old G series was boring, but I love the new design, 7 speed AT, and 328 HP! Interior is great and comfortable (BMW interior is boring -- leatherette for a lux car? Are you kidding me?) TL is bigger but not as fast and not as pretty on the outside. I thought about getting a Maxima, but heck, its almost the same price, so why not get the G37? With the confidence of Inifinti reliability, I am one happy camper.

I love this car! - 2009 Infiniti G37
By Art - October 3 - 9:30 pmI just got this car a few weeks ago but I just cant get enough of it. Its really fun to drive. I have nothing against the BMWs but I personally felt that this Infiniti responded better than the 3 series. I honestly have no complaints at all. I heard someone say that the display was hard to see but I dont get that at all. I think the cabin is well designed.
