Overview & Reviews
Nissan launched its upscale Infiniti division in 1989 with two unique models and a polarizing ad campaign. More than two decades later, Infiniti continues to blaze its own trail in pursuit of luxury, performance and style. The Infiniti G37 sport coupe, sedan and convertible are prime examples of this corporate philosophy. Blessed with a split personality, the rear-wheel-drive G37 will deliver you to work in luxury during the week and then clip apexes all weekend without breaking a sweat.
The list of luxury sport coupes and sedans is typically dominated by elite Teutonic nameplates. In readying the G37, Infiniti honed it on test circuits throughout Europe, including Germany's famed Nürburgring. This athletic chassis, along with the G's attractive sticker price, distinctive interior appointments and ample array of technology, makes it well prepared for battle in this class.
Used Infiniti G37 Models
The Infiniti G37 was first introduced as a coupe for 2008, with the convertible arriving the following year. Technically, the G37 sedan arrived for 2009 as well, but it was really the same vehicle as the second-generation G35 sedan that arrived for '07, albeit with a larger 3.7-liter V6. Confused yet? It gets worse. For 2011, Infiniti officially broke these cars apart into separate models, so for information on a new G, please read the Infiniti G Sedan review, Infiniti G Coupe review and Infiniti G Convertible review.
Used Infiniti G37 models are available in coupe, sedan or convertible body styles, with four possible trim levels: base, Journey, G37x and Sport 6MT. The convertible was only offered in base or Sport 6MT trim, though. For 2010, a special range-topping Anniversary model added features that included navigation, an upgraded Bose audio system, iPod connectivity and ventilated seats (for the convertible only).
In addition to the long list of standard features packaged with each trim level, several options, including the Anniversary add-ons were available à la carte. Adaptive cruise control will alleviate some fatigue on long trips, while the available Sport package (standard on the G37 Sport 6MT and optional on the G37 Journey) will rouse the interest of more aggressive drivers thanks to features like a limited-slip differential, a sport-tuned suspension and brakes, sport seats and bigger wheels.
A four-wheel active steer system (4WAS) was available for those obsessed with pushing the technological envelope, but reactions were mixed, with several drivers noting diminished steering feedback in vehicles equipped with 4WAS. It was eliminated after 2009. Stability control, front-seat side airbags and side curtain airbags can be found on all used Infiniti G37s, and a pre-collision preparation feature was optional.
During these years, the G37's 3.7-liter V6 produced a very healthy 330 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque, fed to either the rear wheels or all four (G37x). In base, Journey and G37x trims, the G37 came with a seven-speed automatic transmission featuring paddle shifters, while the Sport 6MT featured a six-speed manual. Both transmissions have their devotees, but the clutch take-up in the manual is a little too abrupt. Acceleration and mileage numbers are comparable between the automatic and manual, so the choice is a matter of personal preference.
A used G37 from these years offered user-friendly controls, excellent build quality and a handsome design -- the latter highlighted by such items as the car's leather-accented magnesium transmission paddle shifters and attractive interior trim. The front seats are comfortable and well-bolstered, and the available sport-styled seats offer even more aggressive bolstering, though they may be a bit too snug for larger drivers. Both the sedan and coupe feel like sports cars wrapped in a luxury car package, but the coupe, with seats that are mounted slightly lower than the sedan's, feels a bit racier. We're less enamored with the convertible, as it's less refined and practical than its competitors from those years.
Overall, the Infiniti G37 stands shoulder to shoulder with all its contemporary rivals in the entry-level luxury segment. Used car consumers in the market for such a vehicle would be wise to put it at the top of their to-drive list.

Most bang for your buck! - 2008 Infiniti G37
By Lenny - August 21 - 3:40 pmThis car has turned heads from day one. I am often with people who drive vehicles 2 or 3 times more expensive and still they constantly comment on how beautiful it is. Great power, perfect styling, and incredible luxury for the price. Only complaint is if you are over 6 ft (I am 62") you may have to lean the seat back a bit as to not make contact with the roof. Even with that said never once have I in the 3 months Ive driven it have I been less than thrilled with my purchase.

A super smooth ride - 2009 Infiniti G37
By yc - June 14 - 10:26 amI bought this car after having a Honda Accord for a year. What a difference. Aside from the styling, which is beautiful, this car IS power. And at 75 mph, the ride is as smooth as it is at 25. I love the car! Cup holders could be bigger - larger cups dont fit - especially alongside a breakfast sandwich. A minor concession.

G37S Journey coupe - 2009 Infiniti G37
By ViliV - May 27 - 12:03 amThe handling and performance is superb, acceleration is great under any circumstance. The technology loaded in this vehicle really makes the difference with comparable 335 or A5, a fully loaded G37 coupe would cost around 8-10K less than any other European brand.

Awesome, Get Yourself One - 2009 Infiniti G37
By Gregnice23 - March 14 - 4:33 amThis is my first entry level luxury car and I must admit I am glad I chose this rocket ship. The G37 is gorgeous, has ridiculous power, handles awesome and is a stunner to look at. I forgot to mention I saved at least 100 in lease price compared to 4 cylinder audi, and also way more than 100 for a 335 bmw. The interior is amazing, the drive is comfortable and the power is insane. The AWD is incredible you can do 70 mph off the highway without hearing a thing. Its just an incredible machine.G37 4ever.

G37 Journey-Premium-Nav-Tire Package - 2008 Infiniti G37
By Ed - February 16 - 4:43 pmI purchased the car last week and I love the way it handles and its looks. I have been getting nothing but compliments on the car from friends and people on the road. The rear view camera is very helpful.

2nd Infiniti - 2009 Infiniti G37
By Corey B - January 25 - 9:16 amThis is my second Infiniti. My last vehicle was a Cayenne, however, I wanted to shed myself of an SUV while maintaining the versatility of AWD. I decided on the g37x coupe based on the reliability and performance factor of my previously owned Infiniti FX 35. My FX never, and I mean never, went back to the dealership. I had the oil changed every 3,000 miles at my local service station. I test drove the BMW 335x and could not justify spending the difference in price for a comparable car. The g37 coupe is comfortable, handles well and has insane acceleration. The standard feature list far surpasses any of its competitors from Germany. I would definitely buy it again.

G37 X - 2009 Infiniti G37
By Chris - January 20 - 8:16 pmGreat car this is my 4th Nissan/Infiniti car. They just keep getting better! My favorite aspect of the Nissin/Infiniti family is the fact that they set a benchmark against an overpriced competitor. Then make the Better, Cheaper car, faster! For the most Bang for your buck you cannot go wrong with Nissan/Infiniti line of cars!

One of a Kind - 2009 Infiniti G37
By sysadb420 - January 19 - 11:30 pmThis car surprised me. I stopped in to test the G and the M35 as well, but was shocked by the superior handling of the G. I drove the 328, A4 and CTS, but this was superior, especially considering its the stock setup. Only 500 miles so I havent tested everything in the NAV pkg yet. Quality construction, handling, steering, quietness, styling and power come for a competition-beating price and make this car a winner. Fuel mileage looks grim, but well see after more tanks.

Move over 3 Series! - 2009 Infiniti G37
By New Infiniti Fan - January 12 - 4:23 pmI was in the market for an entry level luxury sport sedan for 6 months. All I kept hearing was how great the BMW 3 series was. So I test drove it. While a great performer, the interior felt "boring", and the run flat tires were very loud. So I waited a few more months for the G37 to come out. Im very glad I waited. Infiniti was always trying to catch up to the 3 series in terms of performance and styling, and it seems that they finally caught up. To me, it out performs the BMW, with a much more luxurious interior. Plus its got more ponies (330 vs 300). Lets not even mention the $10k I saved by going with the G. This is the car for the driving enthusiast that wants the performance and luxury
