Model Overview:

One of Hyundai's longest-running nameplates, the Santa Fe is a car-based crossover SUV aimed at buyers seeking the elevated ride height and useful cargo area of a traditional utility vehicle in an easy-to-drive package. Modern versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe are midsize with three rows of seating, quality cabin furnishings and user-friendly tech features. Whether you're shopping for a new or used Santa Fe, value is a big part of its appeal. The standard equipment list is generous, as is Hyundai's warranty coverage.

Earlier versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe range from compact to midsize in dimensions and have seating for five passengers. The 2007 and later models are a big step up in styling, performance and interior space, and they're worth considering if you're shopping for a used midsize crossover. Hyundai has since subdivided the Santa Fe line into two models: the two-row Santa Fe Sport and the three-row Santa Fe. The latter is more luxurious than its predecessors, offering premium styling and plenty of power.

  • AWESOME VEHICLE - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe

PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN THE BEST DECISION I HAVE MADE. I HAVE HAD MY SANTA FE FOR ONE YEAR AND LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT. IT IS A VERY SOLID, WELL-BUILT CAR WITH A SMOOTH RIDE, AND IS COMFORTABLE FOR LONG TRIPS.

There is nothing we could complain about. The quality is superb, it rides very well, and its a head-turner, wherever we drive that beautiful creation!

No Sante Fe owner can tell me he/she hasnt seen this light WAY too often. Overall not a terrible car, but the interior has cheap flimsy equipment (the steering wheel literally started to come apart in my hands). I am rid of this car now and couldnt be happier about that. Maybe the later models were better, but way too many "out of warranty" repairs were needed on this vehicle. The stated MPG is an outright lie and I was lucky to get 16 MPG most of the time. I can honestly say that of the 6 cars I have bought new, this was without a doubt the absolutely worst one (1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse a very close second).

I have only had this suv for about a month but for the money, comfort, and warranty, it cant be beat! The only issues I have with it are minor.

This is our first brand new SUV and we love it. It is everything I want in a vehicle. The safety rating is a plus. Its warranty is a plus. We have installed a DVD player in it for our children and they love it. My 2 year old calls it mommys Santa Fe. It is very comfortable to drive. I love the roomy trunk and the space it has.

  • Worth the Money - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe

I have had my 4 cylinder, front wheel drive, standard Santa Fe for 1 year and driven 25k miles already. I like the roominess, the ease of driving, the comfort of the seats, driver visibility, the fuel efficiency compared to other SUVs and even passenger cars (my old vw golf got 33, while this gets 27 on the highway...a reasonable variation)Yes, I even like the break the mold exterior design. I disagree that it rolls in turns. I find it turns very competently and without much tilt. My only dislike is the weak engine power/acceleration. Of course, its because it is only a 4 cylinder lugging that body around, but I still wish it would have more oomph.

  • so far, so good - 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe

Researched this car extensively. Compared it to others, and drove several competing suvs. This one lokks like a winner, and so far drives like a winner.

  • Great Vehicle, Great Price - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

I wanted a small-to-mid size SUV at a reasonable price. The Hyundai Santa Fe was perfect. Very comfortable ride. Nice standard features. Lots of power. Enough clearance for the kind of four-wheelin we do...more than enough to get to the trailhead. My only complaint--poor gas mileage.

  • Over the road - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe

We are a single car retired couple. We bought the Santa Fe for convenience. An unexpected bonus is the comfort. We make two 5,000 mile trips each year. We feel less tired or worn at the end of an 800 mile day than with any car we have ever owned, including several Buicks and Oldsmobiles.

  • 20K and going strong - 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

After 20K+ miles in 20 months, this 06 Santa Fe hasnt had any problems. Dealer recommended oil changes/service by the book. Dealer caught one minor problem at 6K miles & repaired it (no charge). Great in traffic with ample acceleration to move as needed. Good sound system. Would like better than 2 interior color choices (taupe and grey). Body paint still looks new. Braking is still great. Interior cab for driver feels cramped with seat pushed back to its stops; have to rest left foot on foot rest; still uncomfortable with long drives. V6 highway mileage could be better.
