Overview & Reviews
One of Hyundai's longest-running nameplates, the Santa Fe is a car-based crossover SUV aimed at buyers seeking the elevated ride height and useful cargo area of a traditional utility vehicle in an easy-to-drive package. Modern versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe are midsize with three rows of seating, quality cabin furnishings and user-friendly tech features. Whether you're shopping for a new or used Santa Fe, value is a big part of its appeal. The standard equipment list is generous, as is Hyundai's warranty coverage.
Earlier versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe range from compact to midsize in dimensions and have seating for five passengers. The 2007 and later models are a big step up in styling, performance and interior space, and they're worth considering if you're shopping for a used midsize crossover. Hyundai has since subdivided the Santa Fe line into two models: the two-row Santa Fe Sport and the three-row Santa Fe. The latter is more luxurious than its predecessors, offering premium styling and plenty of power.

Great vehicle - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe
By TN - November 3 - 6:03 amFirst Hyundai. Nothing but Toyotas last 15 years. The Santa Fe had, better styling, more interior room, especially with the third row seats, and a better overall value. We got a limited loaded, including leather and sunroof and third row seating for about what we would have paid for a basic Highlander. We love the Santa Fe. Two years and 40k miles. Some issues, paint chips too easy, slight hesitation in the transmission, especially when going from reverse to drive, rt rear door weatherstrip came loose, Front interior lighting didnt come on with doors, my neighbors 08 did, dealer took care of it by adding an update which was great. 20/24 mpg. Fun to drive. Larger 3.3 is better choice.

GREAT COMFORT AND WONDERFUL PRICE - 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe
By C.Silor - November 3 - 2:29 amBefore I bought this SUV I did my homework, looked at all issues and prices and many pages of reviews from other owners, I love the wider stance it has, my 04 Jeep Liberty limited was narrow and very cramped, the A/C is great, shifting is smooth, I bought a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS 2.7liter FWD 4speed automatic tranny, it rides smooth, MY husband is 62 and he said its like sitting in a recliner, quiet cabin, rocking sound system, great location of vents, for passengers, amazing storage space, (my aunt just bought a 2015 Cadillac SUV and it has small storage area no spare tire or jack yuk and it feels cramped) when she seen my SUV she was amazed at the room and the price I got it used in 6/2016 with 67403 miles on it for $9500 I have searched around and found I got a HELL of a DEAL... Super happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! December 2017, still enjoy the car. I have about 108000 miles now from 67000 when I bought it. No issues, still runs and drives great... UPDATE DECEMBER 17TH 2016 Still love my 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe, very roomy have used it for myself and in-laws grocery shopping and have tons of room... no mechanical issues, rides straight and smooth.

Love My Santa Fe! - 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe
By J - November 2 - 7:03 amPurchased my new Santa Fe SE AWD in August and could not be happier! This is a definite upgrade from my previous car, a 2005 Corolla. I have wanted to upgrade from the Corolla to an SUV for about two years now. I test drove virtually every new compact and midsize SUV on the market today during that time. I used to never think I would own a Hyundai, but after a test drive of the new Genesis coupe during a promotion in June, I decided to look at the Santa Fe and am glad I did! I love the power and performance, but my favorite feature has to be the upgrade in space over the Corolla. Hyundai has definitely won me over because the value cannot be beat! Drive one and experience for yourself!

Worth Considering: Santa Fe LX - 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe
By CTarna - November 1 - 2:00 amWe loved the body style, so we took a look. The 2.7L motor was much better than the 4 cyl, but still underpowered. I hear the new 3.5 is MUCH better. I still used the SUV to tow my motorcycles 300 miles to the track and except for a few steep hills, it held its own. (I even slept in the rear with the middle seats folded down and Im 62" 230 lbs.!) Front leg room was just enough for me, could have been a bit roomier, but this is a mid- sizer. All controls are user friendly (once you figure out the AMB means "ambient" or outside temperature, lol). Bottom line, great value for a good mid-sized 4WD SUV.

Still breaking it in - 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe
By Austin - October 31 - 10:43 amSo far I have not experienced any of the transmission issues that others are talking about. I have nothing but good things to say about this vehicle. I have custom 2 tone leather seats in it and they are fantastic. Have no issues with any of the instruments or controls. Im averaging about 16.8 mpg (only 400 miles on the vehicle and nothing but city driving, no hwy miles really). The torque and hp is a LITTLE low but all that does is teach me to accelerate without a sense of being in a race all the time. That saves gas anyway so I think its fine. At speed I have no problem getting in and out of traffic. By the way my previous vehicle was a VW Jetta VR6 and this gets better mpg.

The sum is more than its parts... - 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe
By mbanas1 - October 31 - 10:20 amWow, has Hyundai come a long way since the early 90s cheapo cars! Fit and finish of the Santa Fe are top notch, very solid and stable feeling on the road, great 3.3L engine (powerful and Im getting 24.5 mpg avg., mostly hwy), best balance between interior space and exterior dimensions (between a CR-V and Pilot) for a family, and huge value for the price (beneath the CR-V). Almost a perfect "family roadtrip" vehicle that is also nice in the parking lots and side streets. However, if you do a daily commute in heavy traffic you might not appreciate the best parts of this car (its quiet ride, 5-speed automatic, comfortably supportive seats), and you will definitely get worse mpg!

Best Value SUV - 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe
By JOSE FERRERO - October 31 - 12:50 amSince I bougth this Santa Fe, always Im finding new features and excellent things of my car. The last one was a lot of covered space under the back carpet. I drove from Fort Lauderdale, FL (33312) to Chandler, AZ (85248) with a trailer on the hitch and the ride was smooth, I didnt feel back pain. The only bad thing is stopping every 230 miles to refuel.

my hyundai - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe
By meljamiefreckles - October 27 - 10:00 amthis is a great car/suv, very fun to drive, easy to manuver into tight parking spots. Before this I had a dodge ram which I loved, but trying to park it in todays parking spots was horrible!! The santa fe works well with my sirius satellite radio plug and play, the sound is good, there is plenty of room for a plus size person in the drivers seat as well as in the rear seats. Seat belts have plenty room, cargo space is good as well. There is NO TOP HEAVINESS some might experience with other taller SUVs. Very stable vehicle, an excellent car to drive!!
