Model Overview:

One of Hyundai's longest-running nameplates, the Santa Fe is a car-based crossover SUV aimed at buyers seeking the elevated ride height and useful cargo area of a traditional utility vehicle in an easy-to-drive package. Modern versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe are midsize with three rows of seating, quality cabin furnishings and user-friendly tech features. Whether you're shopping for a new or used Santa Fe, value is a big part of its appeal. The standard equipment list is generous, as is Hyundai's warranty coverage.

Earlier versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe range from compact to midsize in dimensions and have seating for five passengers. The 2007 and later models are a big step up in styling, performance and interior space, and they're worth considering if you're shopping for a used midsize crossover. Hyundai has since subdivided the Santa Fe line into two models: the two-row Santa Fe Sport and the three-row Santa Fe. The latter is more luxurious than its predecessors, offering premium styling and plenty of power.

I brought my Sante Fe two years ago in 2004. It was ok at first and then at 27,000 mies the clutch started to stick. It would lock up in 2nd gear. Well, I took it to the dealership and thet were supposed to fixin the problem. Well guess what! One month later when I got it back it ran smoothly for 2 weeks now Im havin the same problem again after they claim to hav replaced the Transmission, well in addition to that! Ive spent 300 dollars on tires not to mention the brakes has some issues! All I have to say is Im done with Hyundai! I will either trade it or get rid of it!!!!!

I am very pleased with this vehicle. I read the online reviews, did research and its great. I have averaged 24.5 miles per gallon, not bad for an SUV. Very comfortable, smooth and quiet ride. Excellent vehicle with a great warranty.

2010 gls with 34954 miles transmission went out with a bang 600 miles from home and now waiting for a replacement. Hyundai expexts me to drive 1200 miles to pick up the car when ready... UNREASONABLE !!!!! Buyers BEWARE.

THIS HAS GOT TO BE THE BEST VEHICLE I HAVE EVER BOUGHT. THE V6 ENGINE HAS GREAT POWER AND RUNS VERY QUIET. IT IS ALSO A COMFORTABLE RIDE NOT ONLY IN TRAFFIC BUT ON ROAD TRIPS. FUEL ECONOMY IS NOT THE BEST. I GIVE THIS VEHICLE A VERY HIGH RATING OVERALL.

  • Hyundai doesnt mean crappy anymore.... - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe

Took a gamble, and bought the Sante Fe, after doing alot of research. I was leery knowing Hyundais past. I was surprised at the level of quality and care in making the product. Granted, the leather seats are... well, cheap looking/feeling. Ive enjoyed a trouble free 120K in daily driving since my purchase in 2005. Cant say one bad thing about it; including my mileage, which has ranged from 21 - 24MPGs. Tooling aroud town, it is considerably less, but still for a SUV, not bad at all. HIGHLY Recommend!

  • Transmission - 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe

I bought the Santa Fe in 2006, within a couple of months I was in having the Cruise control switch replaced and a year later I started having problems with the down shifting to 3rd. They changed out a sensor. In the winter of 09 it didnt want to go into drive when cold brought it in. Couldnt duplicate so there was "nothing wrong". Still having problem. On 4/29/10 the shifting problems started again, so I brought the car back into the shop to have them say "nothing wrong" so they reset the computer. So I picked up my car and two days later I was stuck in the parking lot not able to go anywhere. Lets say it is in the shop waiting approval for new transmission!

  • Love my 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe - 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe

For the money, the Santa Fe had the best combination of features, comfort, quality interior materials, and performance of any smaller SUV we test drove. I have had my Santa Fe for about 9 months and have driven it about 12,000 miles so far. It is a joy to drive, hauls children and their gear as well as groceries admirably. The only problem I have had was a large radiator leak at about 5,000 miles and the Hyundai dealership corrected the problem without hassle. The EPA ratings are very accurate, about 17 in the city and 22- 23 on the highway. Bottom line, I am very happy with my Hyundai.

  • Great SUV - 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe

We bought our Santa Fe in March and already have 7000 miles on it. We take it everywhere! It is so comfortable, whether riding in the front or back. Its always a race when we leave to see who gets to the drivers seat first!

We needed to find a vehicle that would ride similarly to the unit it replaced which was a 1995 full size Ford conversion van. My wife & I went on an 1100 mile trip in the van and her hip never hurt or caused us to stop. When we would ride in our 1995 Lumina, her maximun duration was an hour. We test drove the Santa Fe and it met her needs. We have the 4 cyl. seems to give it plenty of go at highway speeds. It lacks a little on the low end but not bad. Just put your foot in a little deeper! We hope to drive it for at least 5-7 years.
