Model Overview:

One of Hyundai's longest-running nameplates, the Santa Fe is a car-based crossover SUV aimed at buyers seeking the elevated ride height and useful cargo area of a traditional utility vehicle in an easy-to-drive package. Modern versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe are midsize with three rows of seating, quality cabin furnishings and user-friendly tech features. Whether you're shopping for a new or used Santa Fe, value is a big part of its appeal. The standard equipment list is generous, as is Hyundai's warranty coverage.

Earlier versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe range from compact to midsize in dimensions and have seating for five passengers. The 2007 and later models are a big step up in styling, performance and interior space, and they're worth considering if you're shopping for a used midsize crossover. Hyundai has since subdivided the Santa Fe line into two models: the two-row Santa Fe Sport and the three-row Santa Fe. The latter is more luxurious than its predecessors, offering premium styling and plenty of power.

  • Better choices out there - 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe

Never owned a Hyundai product, I was smitten by the high style high feature content at a competitive price. My first Santa fe was so riddled with problems Hyundai gave me another. The second has less than half the problems as the first with one common issue that botheres me most, the vehicle randomly shuts off! This has only happend four times in 9 months but its very serious problem in my opinion. Its very random- the suv loses all power and just stops, it restarts straight away. So far two dealers cannot figure it out. My other two gripes are terrible fuel economy, and interior rattles. Overall Im much less than happy here. There are other owners who feel the same way Ive spoke to.

So far the best auto yet. I find no fault with it. Find that it drives better then friends Lexus 330. Hope it continues this nice for a few years. As a retired electrical engineer I am looking at every detail of the SUV.

LOVE THIS VEHICLE!!! What a value, smooth handling like a car with plenty of room. 2nd Hyundai in a row, had a Sonata. May never go back to another brand, definitely not an American mad car.

I purchased this vehicle because I really like the new body style on the 07. I looked at all the other comparable SUVs and thought I would take a chance on the Santa Fe because of the warranty. Really nice ride compared to my old Rav 4. Not too big but just right for my family of 4. I do alot of road mileage and am getting approx 24 MPG as stated for highway and 22 combined driving.

I picked up my Santa Fe in August 2006. My hubby & I have a house in PA. We travel out there on weekends and Holidays. I noticed the caravan of Santa Fes on the highways. We look @ each other with wow I made a great choice on this SUV. Sometimes my husband and I start to count on a given trip we counted for about one mile there were at least ten on the same highway. Four were the same color as mine. I love my truck, and just like my American express I never leave home without it. Great SUV, great price for it and relly a reliable. Liz from Queens NY

  • Gotta Love it !! - 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe

Nice SUV. Test drove Toyotas and Hondas. Bought Hyundai Limited Santa Fe. Make your best deal and also 2k cash back. Just about a 5 year bumper to bumper warranty. Some small items not covered bumper to bumper, they would be covered for 1 year or 36 mos section of the warranty. Car drives great and quality is very impressive. I never thought I would buy a Hyundai but now I love it and my wife wants one also .... Really nice car for the money, - much more car for your money than Toyota or Honda, - they have just about priced themselves out of the affordable marketplace. Car is a real pleasure to drive, I will have to keep it longer before I can write anything about reliability.

  • Not bad - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe

Had car for over 3 years, and with a lot of interstate driving around Chicago, I am on my 4th front windshield. My front fog lights have burned out twice, replaced 1 headlight, and on my second set of tires already. Gas mileage isnt bad. Definitely better than my wifes Lexus. Added aftermarket Sirius(hate XM) and aftermarket in dash GPS/DVD. Other than usual maintenance, it gets the job done. It isnt flashy, and of course you see them everywhere now, so thats good I guess. Front of car is making sounds now, coworker said it may be struts?

  • Incredible value - 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe

This SUV purchase was a no brainer! After test driving Murano, CX-7, CR-V, and RAV4,and doing a price and options comparison we went hands down with the Santa Fe. Not only we got a very well made vehicle fully loaded,(limited), but we got a killer warranty along with it for added peace of mind. 10k more for the Murano was not justifiable,6k more for the RAV4 for 4 more mpg, didnt do it for us with less equipment, less warranty and a Jeepy style, CX-7 didnt have the right engine, and the CR-V cant even compare. The Santa Fe drives like a luxury car, very quiet and great ride. Standard equipment list is impressive. Very good fit and finish. For us, the clear winner at the end of the day.

  • Superb in Many Ways , But...... - 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe

For me this vehicle has one major shortcoming. The front passenger seat does not flip forward to provide added length for carrying extra long items, such as 8ft. lumber. I previously owned a 2006 Hyundai Tucson and the back rest of the front passengers seat inclined forward all the way into a flat position which allowed me to conveniently carry 8 ft. lengths of stock with the rear door closed. Not having the ability to do it on my Sante Fe is a major oversight by the Hyundai developmental Engineering group. Im confident that there are many owners out there who share my displeasure over this incapability. After all, The Sante Fe sport is a cross between a car and a truck.

  • problems with throttle sensor - 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

I have had the car for approx 3 years now. At about the 42,000 mile mark the car developed a problem. While driving the car the rpm suddenly started revving up and dropping back down. The car lunges forward on its own, then jerks backward. It lunges back and forth as you drive. Wasnt able to make it home. Had the car towed. Dealer said it was the throttle sensor. Fixed it. The car worked for 3 months then developed the same problem. Had it towed again. Same problem. This happened again 3 months later. Im actually starting to fear driving this car. If Im on the highway when this happens I could get killed. Im considering getting rid of the car and getting something else.
